Late but wanted to wish birthday ladies a good day .???

harrigran Fri 22-Jul-22 12:33:10

My boiler broke down within thirty minutes of having a smart meter fitted, sent the pressure to dangerous levels and started throwing water out of the overflow. We think it was the surge when they restarted the boiler.

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Suffolk is grey and still but comfortable today. Tidying the garden prior to neighbours coming for lunch on Sunday. We picked a bad weekend as many are away, so it will be about 12-14 instead of mid 20s. At least it adds impetus to get jobs done.
Awaiting the postman, to collect a computer battery.
Happy birthdays to GG & Gingster!
I hope the day is kind to us all.

MawtheMerrier Fri 22-Jul-22 11:53:11

Was wondering whether to give in to the repeated injunctions to get a smart meter but Maw’s post encourages me to put it off again
??
You’ll have Scottish Power after me! .
To be fair, the new circuit board is due tomorrow (and covered by the Corgi contract ) and the not functioning meter will be fixed remotely (!) within the next week. I got prompt and helpful replies to phone calls in both instances so my faith in human nature is on the way to being restored.
(That’s asking for trouble, isn’t it?)

A late Good Morning from a pleasantly warm, but still extremely dry Cambs.,

Happy Birthday to GrannyGravy & to Gingster, I hope you both enjoy your special day. flowers cupcake wine

GrannySomerset Fri 22-Jul-22 10:14:58

DS, wife, DGS and dog have proposed themselves for the weekend so must do a supermarket shop in order to feed them (the dog brings his own) before putting away all the clothes which have taken up residence on all three spare beds. Delighted to see them but am singularly unprepared.

Cooler and greyer but no real rain forecast so watering cans are still the order of the day. Was wondering whether to give in to the repeated injunctions to get a smart meter but Maw’s post encourages me to put it off again.

Good morning from the Scottish Borders where it's overcast, dull, grey infact back to normal. Phew!
I don't really do heat
A lazy day for me after a poor sleep.
The blind fitter will surely come. His van can't break down again. The paint didn't arrive so I will chase that up
Well done gMattie to have done so much admin already. It will be 2 years soon enough since DH died and I have still many things to sort.
Happy birthday to the birthday girls ??

Blossoming Fri 22-Jul-22 09:49:43

Good morning Mick and all. We have grey skies and lovely rain in my corner of Lancashire, currently 16°C.

Nothing much planned for today other than exercise and housework. Mr. B bought me a little fan to place near my exercise bike as I get quite hot pedalling away! I can get on with things that I put off during the heatwave.

Have a lovely holiday Greyduster.

Urmstongran I’m glad your car is sorted, hope your stepfather’s test results are better. Has he been drinking enough water during the heatwave? That can affect kidney results.

Migraines do leave you feeling washed out for a day or two GrandmaBatty, I hope you will take it easy today. How lovely of your neighbour.

Great photos Ashcombe, I wish I could watch the performance, I’m sure it will be hilarious.

What a palaver Maw. I’ve heard so many horror stories from people who’ve had smart meters fitted. I’m holding off as long as possible.

Happy Birthday Gingster and GrannyGravy ?

Have the best day you can, with a ?or two ?? along the way.

luluaugust Fri 22-Jul-22 09:49:04

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent, will it rain it certainly looks like it.
Quiet day although friend popping in for an hour or so. GS5 finishing primary school today so no more small grandchildren.
Happy birthday to Ginster and GG
Best wishes to all

Kalu Fri 22-Jul-22 09:45:45

Good morning all from Perthshire. A spur of the moment decision for us to spend a couple of days with our girls at the but n ben as we have a few days off before DH has another appointment.

Many happy returns GrannyGravy and Gingster. Enjoy your special day. ??

A good day is wished for all.

Anniebach Fri 22-Jul-22 09:40:29

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Urmstongran Fri 22-Jul-22 09:37:33

Oo-er! I’m glad we’re not at Manchester airport this morning. Not sure which terminal this is (there are 3) but if this is T2 my friend could well be in this, off to Portugal for a week!

harrigran Fri 22-Jul-22 09:14:10

Good morning from an overcast NE where it is 14 degrees.
Had a lovely lunch at our favourite restaurant but decided against wine as we were going shopping.
DD and I both managed to find clothes we liked and I bought four pairs of trousers, very necessary as I have lost so much weight. I bought a birthday gift for my friend in the Molton Brown shop, her birthday is not until the end of August but I saw some really nice products that I think she will like.
Washing day today, looks as if it might rain but it was darker yesterday and we didn't get any.
Happy Birthday to gingster and grannygravy, have a lovely day.

baubles Fri 22-Jul-22 09:05:49

Good morning Mick, morning all from dull South Lanarkshire.

Happy birthday to Gingster and GrannyGravy, hope you both enjoy the day.

The rehearsal looks fun Ashcombe, reminds me of my years as Props Mistress with an amateur music theatre group.

We had a good afternoon with DS’s girls yesterday. After collecting them from nursery we strolled over to the palace tearoom where they played in the garden while we finished our coffee. It’s so good to see large numbers of tourists back in the city.

A quiet day today, I must get on with crocheting poppies for our local Remembrance Day yarn bomb. I made a start last week and managed a whole three!! ?

Have the best day possible everyone.

hollysteers Fri 22-Jul-22 08:44:59

Good morning Mick and all from a dull and dark northwest coast.
Spent ages on phone yesterday to Sky and Talk Talk with my daughter sorting out packages etc, another session this morning, very tedious.
Rehearsal with band this afternoon and I have found a parking spot next to the venue, used by people with no connection to it, cheeky!
Off to stay with my sister in the south tomorrow, so a little packing.
Birthday greetings to the two Gs and fab photos Ashcombe

ShazzaKanazza Fri 22-Jul-22 08:21:01

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull.
Home from London yesterday and DH went straight in the garden to water. It’s faired quite well really. Only lost a couple of things. Lots of runner beans and French beans to pick.

Today I’m going to the gym as I haven’t been for a week. This afternoon picking up DGS from school on his last day. We have him two full days a week starting next week.
Happy Birthday to Gingster and GrannyGravy??
Enjoy your day everyone and thinking of those with stress, illness and worries. ??

EkwaNimitee Fri 22-Jul-22 08:18:49

Good morning Mick and everyone from wet Carlisle. It seems to be drying up which is good as I have to go to town shortly. The crown which came off the other day is due to be replaced thanks to a cancellation at the dentist. However, I fear it won't be possible, it's an ancient crown fixed in with pins and cement. I'm sure she'll tell me that the root canal treatment and a new crown that I'd prefer won't be possible and will recommend extraction. A similar thing happened last year. While out, I'll do some other errands.
My holiday documents have arrived so now I can start panicking over holiday outfits and packing plus worry over striking trains. So hard to live up to my username!

Happy birthdays to Gingster and GrannyGravy. Have a good day both.

Beechnut Fri 22-Jul-22 08:14:12

Happy Birthday Grannygravy have a lovely day ???

MawtheMerrier Fri 22-Jul-22 08:04:38

Good morning from N Bucks where it is cloudy and cooler, but Ginny’s rain must have been localised showers as I’m just 3 miles down the road and the ground is bone dry!
Hoping for some resolution with my Smart Meter/boiler fiasco of yesterday. Everything was turned off (gas and electric) ✔️Engineer changed the meters ✔️Everything turned on ✔️except the boiler whose circuit board, it appears has blown/died/ popped its clogs/is a dead circuit board.
Corgi Homecare sent a man within 2 hours. And yes he could fix it, yes a new circuit board was available , but No, Corgi Homecare go back to the boiler manufacturer for this magnitude of repair and now I am waiting for them to contact me. In the meantime at least I don’t need the CH and I do have a backup immersion heater for a shower. The gizmo to show me what energy I am consuming only wants to show me gas consumption which is ironic as without a boiler, I am unlikely to use much gas.
Why did I bother.
Wishing you all a better day - Marydoll -take it easy, and Happy Birthday to the birthday girls ?? ?!

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 22-Jul-22 07:58:14

Good morning from a cool and cloudy Oxfordshire.

Happy birthday Gingster and Granny Gravy ??? I hope you have a lovely day.

Another new fridge arriving sometime today, to replace the other new fridge from 2 months ago. I don’t think I’ll be in a rush to buy anything large from Currys again, we’ve spent a fortune ‘on hold’ in phone calls and 4 trips into the store to try to get this brand new fridge replaced and then had to wait a month to get it fitted ‘due to Covid’ - absolute rubbish. Rant over.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good day and let’s hope the sun shines.

NanKate Fri 22-Jul-22 07:57:55

Morning Mick and All.

We are packing up and returning home after a sun drenched week in the New Forest. We are hoping the protestors on the motorways avoid us ?

Our 11 year old DGS left his Primary School yesterday. The school made it very special for the children with a party atmosphere. They each wrote their names on each others’ t-shirts and given a medal on a ribbon round their neck. He has already spent a fun morning at his new school. If only things had been like that when I was at school.

????to the Birthday Girls.

Ali23 Fri 22-Jul-22 07:54:42

Good morning Mick and everyone. A cool night last night, but I didn’t sleep very well.
We went to our local country park yesterday and I needed my cardigan... bliss! I also met my great nephew for the first time and had a lovely cuddle. Today I intend to bag up things in the garage ready for the charity shop. Then it’s off to the dentist this afternoon.

Happy Friday everyone!

dragonfly46 Fri 22-Jul-22 07:54:09

Good morning from Leicestershire - where it is raining!

We had a lovely time with friends in Lincoln despite the heat.

Happy Birthday to Gingster and *GrannyGravy

Hoping everyone has a lovely day.

ginny Fri 22-Jul-22 07:49:23

Good morning. Very cool in N. Bucks and we had rain overnight.

Happy birthday Ginster and GrannyGravy.

DH is off to golf in a while and I’m going to do a few bits and pieces and then settle down to some art work.

We have DD3s dog for the next couple of weeks whilst they are on holiday. He is no trouble and I think he enjoys the peace here without the little ones running about.

Wishing all a good day.

Urmstongran Fri 22-Jul-22 07:47:55

Many happy returns of the day to our double celebrators! I wonder if you share similar zodiac personality traits? Not surprised you’ll be m eating up again - as my lovely mother in law used to say “like attracts like”.
?

Thanks Jax I really was delighted to get the car sorted. My dad used to say “3rd class driving is better than 1st class walking!” Which is why I don’t mind an old car in the least. It keeps us dry in the winter, door to door, with a heater and means we can ferry my stepfather about when needed too! Not that I’d say ‘no’ to a new small one if I had a windfall!
