“That’ll see me out”

One of my father’s favourite phrases, whether applied to a suit, coat, lawnmower or camera!
Today I took delivery of a new coat (White Stuff sale, £60 off) and found myself thinking just that. So what else will “see me out” ?
Is Rosie to be my last dog, am I on my last cooker/ fridge/ sofas / dining table etc?
Obviously not my washing machine or dishwasher - they will conk out the minute I feel a bit short of money and the car… who knows but I do hope I might run to an EV in a couple of years.
What will “see you out” ?

Franbern - snap! It's my 81st birthday year too, and I got my new kitchen five years ago! I became a tai chi instructor when I was 67 and I remember thinking it was such a shame that I'd found something I loved doing so late (?!?) in life and that oh well, I'll do it for a couple of years. I'm still teaching it now and yes, I hope it will see me out!! As for 'things' though, if I need it (and can afford it) I get it. The only thing to see me out will be my funeral!

I remember Dad buying his one and only brand new car and saying that. He went on to have about 4 more (but not new ones) after that!!

Taichnan I also took up Tai Chi a few years ago and I love it! Unfortunately my class has not restarted post Covid and sadly I don't think there will be any more classes in my village hall. I try to practice at home but it is not the same and I miss the camaraderie with all the lovely members who were so kind and supportive.

I wish you hadn't posted this. I just bought a brown winter coat from White Stuff! Good reduction though.

I definitely have enough knitting yarn to see me out! I'd have to knit non stop for the next 25 years to get through it all. Which would take me to, umm, 93. OMG. My Mum only got to 68. I hope to get to 69 next Jan. to reach that milestone.

Great Barry Cryer joke - At my age I don’t buy green bananas!

I have enough art materials to see me out and enough to paint the Sistine Chapel…as I’m late returning to art ‘someone’ will look on it all and think ?
Makeup too. If I had spent the same time painting canvases as my face, I’d be Leonardo da Vinci by now.

Knitters have a term for 'seeing us out' - SAPLE, which means 'Stash Above Probable Life Expectancy' grin. It means we have so much yarn that the odds on knitting it all up in time are low.
