Childrens toys

Well kids have always hadcdoctor sets what’s the difference ?

Who would want that as a gift?
To terrorise all their friends and family maybe!

Why on earth not? It will help demystify going to the dentists and it might lead to a career in dentistry for the child.

One of my girls thought going to the dentist was "the best thing ever" (her words aged about 6)!
She would have loved a dentist set!

...however... I have watched children play and think it needs to come with a steriliser - if not an autoclave!

I see your point but wouldn’t be for me as a child. Also thinking of the safety of a so called toy and poking around in children’s mouths.

Would you encourage a child to play with putting 'instruments' in another child's mouth? Really?

I dont want to break it to you, but certainly within childcare settings all the doctors implements are put in ears mouths etc, obviously the staff remind children to just pretend. You would offer hardly any toys if you thought about what children might do with them

I cant see what the problem is,its a new version of operation,and is a well loved game for children and adults alike.
I think it will help those who fear the dentist.

It is just another set of medical toys, nothing wrong with it

I had a lot of orthodontic treatment when my daughter was a toddler and she often came with me and was very interested! The orthodontist was great and explained things to her. She would play at being an orthodontist so would have loved a dentist set!!

I’ve just been sorting out the toy box - puzzles with pieces missing , grubby soft toys etc. Filled a large carrier bag of decent toys for the charity shop and another bag for the dustman. Just kept a few for when they come over. And, there wasn’t one Doctor or Nurse set, despite having medics in the family.?

But they pretend to put them in their mouths just like with doctors sets they don’t actually cut the arm open to relieve the boil or stick needles in to give an injection it’s called pretend !!!

Vets sets sell very well in our charity shops but I don’t think the kids are sticking thermometers up the nearest dogs bottom ??Doctors sets sell well too I ve never seen a dentist one but can’t see a problem personally

Actually, the centre I work for which is for children with additional support needs has a whole range of similar toy sets - doctor, dentist, hairdresser, vet etc. It helps the children - many of whom are on the autistic spectrum - become familiar with the instruments used and make them less worried or distressed when they have to attend the doctor, dentist etc for real.

There's been a big push in Early Years recently to encourage good dental health.
As a registered childminder I'm supposed to ask the parents if their child is registered with a dentist and whether they've been for a check-up.

What ever is the problem? I would definitely buy it. Didn't we all have "nurses and doctors" sets when we were little. What on earth is the difference. If it takes the worry about going to the dentist and having to sit in a big chair and have a strange man/woman poke around in their mouth - then it's a win win situation.

I don't understand the problem. My partner's daughter-in-law is a dentist and his granddaughter has a dentist playset. Like most children, she likes playing at being her Mum and I've seen her with her dolls all lined up getting a lecture about cleaning their teeth and not eating sweets.
