As some if you know I have terminal cancer. I want t go abroad for a holiday. I have my oncologist approval. Travel insurance though ….. a lot of companies will not insure me because I took part in a non invasive trial recently. No Follow up procedures, no medication. I did it mainly to help future patients as it can’t save me.

Lucca Wed 27-Jul-22 10:57:14

Ive got a quote !! Less than I thought too. Bet the holiday has been taken now….

Marydoll Wed 27-Jul-22 08:36:21

I sympathise with you Lucca. I don't have cancer, no-one will insure me, as I'm such a high risk.
It's very hard to come to terms with.
I hope you find someone to insure you.

Galaxy Wed 27-Jul-22 08:33:54

If you can let us know how you get on Lucca flowers. I was wondering if we could all turn up at the insurance offices and look threatening. I cant think of anything more frightening to be honest.

Lucca Wed 27-Jul-22 08:28:46

Ah well another day another dollar. I’ll try some more avenues today but it’s exhausting and not good for my state of mind.

HousePlantQueen Tue 26-Jul-22 22:56:58

Lucca, this is so unfair, so it is not the terminal cancer diagnosis that is the issue, it is the selfless act of participating in a cancer treatment trial? This is desperately unfair. I can, if you wish, ask my friend what they did when they travelled overseas after her husband took part in drug trials while he underwent experimental treatment for his cancer? Pm me if you wish flowers

Hithere Tue 26-Jul-22 22:37:10

So sorry Lucca, life is not fair

For insurance companies, risk is everything and the cost raised if insurance is in fact needed

Numbers instead of people.

nadateturbe Tue 26-Jul-22 22:17:48

So terribly unfair Lucca. I hope something here helps you to get your very important holiday.
Sending love. ?

Maywalk Tue 26-Jul-22 22:03:39

It certainly IS NOT fair and needs being brought to the fore. You have been given some good pointers Lucca try them to see if they can help.
If not write to your local paper and your MP. plus the medical board
I certainly would if it were me.
Good Luck.

Think there might be advice out there

Stay Sure does over with cancer and appears not to be concerned about clinical trials.

Hope that you can get what you need Lucca flowers

No. Stay sure we’re the first ones I tried and they said absolutely not to clinical trials

Oh Lucca I am sorry. They were open to travel insurance for someone with cancer and at that point there was no reference at all to clinical trial being a problem. flowers

I really hope some of these links provided come up trumps for you Lucca and that you get to go on your holiday. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Ali23 Tue 26-Jul-22 21:27:38

It certainly isn’t fair Lucca. Good luck with finding an insurance.

Razzamatazz Tue 26-Jul-22 21:17:15

I've just had a look for you on the Macmillan site. There are five posts from people trying to find travel insurance, not all of them have done a clinical trial.

The person that recommended this company did continue on to a trial after treatment, link at the end of this post.

It’s appalling, it stinks, insurance companies rip us off year after year “on the off chance” but even if we do ever claim, they have clever d*cks called “loss adjusters” who pare the claim down to the least possible pay out .

LauraNorderr Tue 26-Jul-22 20:45:40

Insurance companies are carrots

Lucca Tue 26-Jul-22 19:53:56

Thanks everyone.I’ll let you know what happens ! Tired now so going to watch some carrotty nonsense on the telly!
