As some if you know I have terminal cancer. I want t go abroad for a holiday. I have my oncologist approval. Travel insurance though ….. a lot of companies will not insure me because I took part in a non invasive trial recently. No Follow up procedures, no medication. I did it mainly to help future patients as it can’t save me.
I sympathise with you Lucca. I don't have cancer, no-one will insure me, as I'm such a high risk. It's very hard to come to terms with. I hope you find someone to insure you.
If you can let us know how you get on Lucca . I was wondering if we could all turn up at the insurance offices and look threatening. I cant think of anything more frightening to be honest.
Lucca, this is so unfair, so it is not the terminal cancer diagnosis that is the issue, it is the selfless act of participating in a cancer treatment trial? This is desperately unfair. I can, if you wish, ask my friend what they did when they travelled overseas after her husband took part in drug trials while he underwent experimental treatment for his cancer? Pm me if you wish
It certainly IS NOT fair and needs being brought to the fore. You have been given some good pointers Lucca try them to see if they can help. If not write to your local paper and your MP. plus the medical board I certainly would if it were me. Good Luck.
Stay Sure does over with cancer and appears not to be concerned about clinical trials.
Hope that you can get what you need Lucca
No. Stay sure we’re the first ones I tried and they said absolutely not to clinical trials
Oh Lucca I am sorry. They were open to travel insurance for someone with cancer and at that point there was no reference at all to clinical trial being a problem.
I've just had a look for you on the Macmillan site. There are five posts from people trying to find travel insurance, not all of them have done a clinical trial.
The person that recommended this company did continue on to a trial after treatment, link at the end of this post.
It’s appalling, it stinks, insurance companies rip us off year after year “on the off chance” but even if we do ever claim, they have clever d*cks called “loss adjusters” who pare the claim down to the least possible pay out .
