As some if you know I have terminal cancer. I want t go abroad for a holiday. I have my oncologist approval. Travel insurance though ….. a lot of companies will not insure me because I took part in a non invasive trial recently. No Follow up procedures, no medication. I did it mainly to help future patients as it can’t save me.

I was so disgruntled by your news yesterday, Lucca, but I’m over the moon that you now have a insurance, holiday to look forward to and hair. You’re a classy lady.

Glad it's sorted Lucca. Just wanted to say I am in awe of your attitude. And to offer a hug should you need one anytime.

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis Lucca My DH was diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal cancer & underwent palliative treatment including chemo, he was also part of a trial. We managed to get insurance through a company called Insure With.com for several holidays abroad and in the Uk before Covid hit. They were recommended to us by Macmillan support at the hospital. The company was originally set up by a lady who had breast cancer & was struggling to get cover. They may be worth a try, I hope you manage to sort something and get to go on what must be a much needed holiday.

Lucca

ourtravelinsurance.co.uk/ This is the broker I used. Really helpful. Shout out to Brenda!
The insurers are actually Allclear .
By using a broker I only had to give them all the details rather than repeating them to x different companies,

They're the ones I used last time, not as expensive as Staysure, the company I used to use whose prices had risen by quite a large margin.

Enjoy your holiday Lucca!

Wonderful result Lucca, really good news that you can now look forward to as lovely holiday in the sun.

Marydoll Portmeirion is beckoning you! A little bit of Italy tucked away in North Wales!

It's lovely there!

Dinahmo

I can understand why insurance companies won't insure some people that have pre-existing conditions but what I can't understand is why they don't exclude that part of the policy relating to illness. Surely they could create a policy where the types of cover that you need can be selected, such as cancellation, luggage and delays.

Lucca I'm very pleased that you have found a policy and hope that you have a lovely holiday.

Yes, they do, Dinahmo. Our bank offered insurance cover like that but, if you have a pre-existing condition, the company could argue that any sudden illness needing treatment on holiday was due to the pre-existing condition.

Can’t believe how happy I feel for you Lucca, yay and yay again.
An insurance company with a bit of a heart, a lettuce and definitely not a carrot.
Looking forward to hearing about the trip and hoping you’ll post some photos.

I'm so sorry to hear your prognosis but thrilled for you that you can go on holiday, Lucca.

In the past, The Post Office used to offer good insurance. They would cover a lot of pre-existing conditions after a certain time but if you claimed, your excess was higher. For those of us who have several conditions, this seemed the best way to go.

JenniferEccles Wed 27-Jul-22 19:18:17

Lucca I’m sure there are lots of folk on GN who were so saddened to hear your news a while back about your health situation, so learning that you have booked a much needed holiday is very heartening.

I hope you have a wonderful time, and I will look forward to hearing all about it when you return.
