"What to do with those bras that just don’t fit, that were an impulse purchase, or that we have worn out? Well, these are some of the best ways out there to stop your lingerie from becoming yet more clothing waste."

I have two barely-worn bras which will go to the charity shop this week - they're almost in new condition so I hope they will be sold here in the UK and not shipped off abroad.

I thought there had been a re-think about sending used clothing to Africa - it often ends up in landfill or sold in markets and so putting local small manufacturers out of business.

That's a good way to pass bras on to people who can't afford them or can't get them any other way. Sadly, I have none that are worth anything to anyone else.

I've been wearing Sloggi pull-ons (and more recently other makes that are cheaper but as good or better than Sloggis) for the last thirty-odd years and I wear them until they've lost most of their elasticity. Then I cut off the stretchy under-bust bands and use those to hold together things like stored duvets.

x-posts, river. Just read yours and it has made me feel a bit down. It's a mad world we live in.

I'm so glad I've found positive websites that show data on the near universal improvements in human well-being over the last century or so. Still a long way to go, of course, but we are going in the right direction, I feel.

Pre Covid M&S used to have a box in the lingerie changing room you could put old bras in to be donated to charity (not sure if they still do this)

Smalls for All is an amazing charity. They accept lightly worn bras and new pants. I often send packages off to them and relish making the poor guy on the postoffice counter look uncomfortable, when he asks....what's in the parcel? grin

At my church we donated old bras to Africa. We were
told that wearing a bra a woman was less likely to get raped. I have no idea if this is true.

Mine all went to Ukraine earlier this year, along with other suitable women's clothing and my late husband's shirts and trousers. All in lovely condition.
