Which Deodorant is best, I use Sure invisible aqua for anti-white marks and yellow stains but still find yellowing happening. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

I couldn't agree more -I've tried them all and nothing beats Mitchum. It is more expensive so I buy multiple when on offer
My favourites are Shower Fresh & Powder Fresh.
I'ts on an amazing offer at the moment at Lloyds for £1 down from £2.59

Please use a deoderant, washing-powder and soap that does not contain perfume.

Doing so is better for your health, and an enormous help to all of us who cannot be near a person wearing certain perfumes because we are allergic to them.

If you wash daily, which I am sure you all do, you do not need perfume - there is n othing wrong with smelling human, as long as we smell of clean human being, not dirty ones.

As far as effectiveness is concerned another vote for Mitchum.
I used to work at a care home for young adults a while ago where there was a young woman who used to perspire profusely underarms within a few hours of showering and spraying, the smell was over bearing no matter what deodorant she used until we discovered Mitchum... it really works.

I have not used commercial deodorants for many years since I read about the aluminium in them being linked to breast cancer. I use natural Thai stones from health shops and spas.

I don't use a roll-on, prefer a solid stick type. Dove, Sure, are the more easily available ones. The stick ones do seem to be harder and harder to find these days. Have you noticed tge adverts for 72 hour deodirant? Latest one I saw showed a female exercising for hours, her saving grace being the 72 hour product. I would say there are very few people who use a gym who don't shower soon after. Today it's a must for everyone to have a shower everyday isn't it. Won't the 72 hour product be washed off well before the 3 days protection wore off. Another marketing ploy to get our money.

Have never used deodorant or antiperspirant. I don’t perspire much anyway and it is wrong to stop it

So it’s just you and me then Forlorn hope.
Glad not to be alone in this, welcome!
is it habit or fear that keep people buying this.

Years ago I read that an Oncologist did not want his Wife and Daughters to use deodorants that contain Parabens and or Aluminium as they were carcinogenic. He said that underarms are too near the breast area and the deodorant could penetrate the skin. I agree that we don’t really need deodorant but if we do, make sure you buy one that is Paraben and Aluminium Free.

I think the yellowing can occur, when garments are warn more than once ie twice, with a second lot of deodorant getting onto the fabric. I had this with my husbands shirts he may go into work for just 3 or 4 hours then wear the shirt again. Ever since he stopped wearing more than once the yellowing has stopped

Baggytrazzas Fri 05-Aug-22 15:39:19

I was wondering if it might be a change of soap powder that was needed? Maybe something biological?

I use ProCoal natural deodorant balm which I buy online. It has a pleasant lavender smell, does not cause yellow colouration and is very effective

LovelyLady Fri 05-Aug-22 16:12:27

I use Mitchum and recall my mother saying everyone sweats and we’re the last to know if we’re smelling. I take no chances, therefore it’s Mitchum roll on, sometimes I use the spray but it empties quicker.
Dove to me smells of old lady.
My husband change brand regularly, sometimes Right Guard or something on offer. He doesn’t like Mitchum. We’re all different xx

Having tried just about every deodorant on the market I came to the conclusion that the chemicals in the products were what was causing the constant irritation. I decided to go vegan and now use Fit Pit vegan deodarant, it's perfect, never irritates and a jar lasts for ages.

Forlornhope and silverlining48 I'm a member of that club too. I haven't used deodorant or anti-perspirant since menopause. I have very little body hair since that time, too. I suspect a lot of people keep using it out of habit or worrying they will smell if they don't use it. I hardly sweat at all under my arms, unless I've been very active, and I shower after exercise. I certainly don't smell. My family would certainly let me know if I was whiffy.

Before had DK I had major perspiration issue almost had nerves at neck severed to stop gushing!! But no odour as I kept clean and fresh daily! Once had babies-problem solved but I always used mitchum even when it was really expensive! No yellowing of clothes again I wash clothes very often to avoid staining.mitchum stops sweat so no stains! Deodorant stops NOTHING!! I always use unperfumed and have real perfume as a choice!not chemical pong concocted by random industry bod!

Skomer Fri 05-Aug-22 16:42:11

I am 14 years into the menopause and the hot flushes are still as savage as in the beginning.
If I didn’t use an effective antiperspirant I would have sweat dripping out of my arm pits.
Mitchum stick is the most effective I have found, I use the unscented one when I can get it, is hard to find at the moment.

Liz46 Fri 05-Aug-22 17:16:37

Like a couple of other posters I use a crystal stick so no aluminium or spray.

One of my daughters bought me one in a cork case so no plastic either.

Bazza Fri 05-Aug-22 18:01:29

I’m not a sweater, haven’t used any sort of deodorant for years. A daily shower and a little talc is good for me. I’m sure I’d have been told if I was whiffy!

Nannina Fri 05-Aug-22 18:23:46

Lucca

Mitchum without a doubt

Yes, definitely Mitchum roll on is the best I’ve ever used

jerseygirl Fri 05-Aug-22 19:06:40

Try Right Guard black and white, no white marks. I have been using this for a while now and it works. No white marks or yellowing and its great at keeping me dry all day. Its not expensive either and its usually on offer somewhere. I bought a new one today from Wilko and it was half price at £1.60.

I use a salt deodorant - 'Salt of the Earth'. Dampen then end and wipe it on, or wipe it over damp skin after a bath.

It doesn't contain aluminium and it is non-toxic. The salt prevents bacteria from producing smells. It is an absolutely wonderful product.

Nicksmrs46 Sat 06-Aug-22 08:18:34

I don’t use spray anti perspirant as it affects my asthma ! I’ve been using Mitchum ladies roll on block for quite a few years now and no staining of clothes .

tiredoldwoman Sat 06-Aug-22 11:07:20

I think Ive read somewhere that if you make up a solution of vinegar and water and spray the underarm area of your clothes prior to washing , it removes stains and smells ? A cheap fix if it works !

Cindylou Sat 06-Aug-22 12:39:34

Sanex stick is great . No aluminium

joysutty Sat 06-Aug-22 18:27:49

I tend to stick to either Right Guard - blue can spray one or Sure. My mother would always buy a roll-on called MUM. No sure if thats still available. I not a fan of a roll-on but after reading of the Aldi Lacura one I might now try that one, also saw the picture of the Dove Pomegranate one, that sounds good, which DOVE is the only range that my daughter in law ever uses so am thinking of a change but during this very hot weather the 2 I mention keeps me dry and gives me the protection at this particular time and can buy for £1 in Poundland or Savers.
