Soop, what a gorgeous little boy, your family do tend to produce good looking males, don`t they?
Granmarie, it`s many a long year since we visited Portpatrick, lovely little place, pity we never made it back there.

Hello everyone. Younger son is back in London with another suitcase of books! I thought I had a lot of books… Our gardener popped round today and spent three hours sorting out the garden. Apparently a couple of our mature shrubs have been quite badly damaged by that recent heatwave. They may be saved, but she isn’t sure. I had my second blood test today as the previous one (liver) was slightly borderline. The hall and landing curtains arrived and are perfect. I’ll post a photo tomorrow, I have one more to gather and put hooks in. I reckon that’s the worst job.

Just popping in to wish muse a lovely time with her family.
Hope everyone is ok.

How lovely Muse, enjoy the visit.

Good evening Kitcheners.

Is the bob a new style Yia? Love to see it please.

Good to see you have rested well Shazza. I do hope the two days aren't too stressful.

Tomorrow is a red letter day for me. My DS and DGD2 (who live in Hertfordshire) are holidaying further into Cornwall than where we are. They are coming to see us tomorrow afternoon. Red letter day because I haven't seen them for four years.

ShazzaKanazza Tue 30-Aug-22 18:04:14

Good Evening dear Kitcheners. I haven’t had chance to come on in an afternoon to wish you all well but I always do ?
I have had a look at all your busy news.

Soop you have a handsome little grandson and your sunset pics are always wonderful.

Brook it’s lovely to see your face and to be able to picture you.

Grannmarie lovely pics I wondered if you were in the paddle board pic.

Maw I totally missed what happened. So don’t know what has been said but hate to hear you are upset.

I have my GS tomorrow and Friday so ?for stress free days with him. The last two before he goes back to school next week. Thinking of what to do with him to keep him busy. We have had a lovely long bank holiday. Boating and family and friends visiting. Feet up now.

Have a lovely evening everyone I’ll try and pop back on in the next few days but I’m always thinking of you all X?

Blossoming Tue 30-Aug-22 17:46:41

Portpatrick is a favourite of ours Granmarie, we had arranged to spend a month there in midsummer 2020. All cancelled. I don’t know if we’ll have time to visit when we’re in Galloway, so much else we want to do but mostly we want to relax and watch the sea smile

Blossoming Tue 30-Aug-22 17:42:39

A bittersweet visit indeed Naughtneine flowers

soop Tue 30-Aug-22 17:29:48

WISH. X

soop Tue 30-Aug-22 17:29:13

I have coddiwompled for 40 mins. My legs started to twitch, I therefore forewent the remaining five.

It's getting late. I need to attend to something that needs immediate attention. Therefore, I must take my leave and will all our Kitcheners a pleasant evening.

We will meet again tomorrow. smile moon

Hi to all my lovely friends on here. Maw...I understand completely. I've given up too (apart from adding a comment on the thread about Soops kitchen and other kind GN folks). What happened to....be kind?
This kitchen is the only place to be.
It's been a long catch up this afternoon....and it's lovely to see pictures too. Gorgeous sunsets..Great Grandsons... Views and catches. I'm so glad that our holidaying Grans are having a wonderful time too. I did my usual before going away... Changed beds.. Did all washing...ironing... Made cakes...hoovered and dusted and then drove the 250 miles's to the Wirral. DOH said he would drive but it didn't seem fair after he had been at work all day. We left at 5.45pm and arrived at 10.15 so not too bad. The M5 was very busy until Bristol then a good run until the M6 which was slow. We didn't get to bed until nearly 1 as the chat started and the wine opened. I actually felt quite squiffy but the time I went to bed and DOH said I was starting to talk broken biscuits (Scouse expression for a bit slurred) as the 2 glasses of Chenin Blanc had nothing to absorb them apart from a prawn sandwich eaten at midday. We went to Great Homer Street Market on Saturday morning but my disappointment knew no bounds as my amazing any 3 items for £10 stall had gone. ( It was all new stuff and I have had some amazing finds over the years). My smile returned though as we dropped into see my cousins newest DGS and I had long long cuddle and a little weep that I haven't even seen my youngest DGS let alone cuddle him. We went to the hospital on Sat afternoon ...DOH offered to drive and wait whilst my cousin (female) and I went in to see my poorly cousin (male) It was hard as he was his usual jokey Scouse humoured self and I struggled to think he wouldn't be around at Christmas. I did cry when we got in the lift to go...I hope it won't be the last time I see him. ?
Yesterday we went to New Brighton...and had the lushest fry up... The whole works including fried bread. I think maybe the cycle should live in the corner of the kitchen so I could pop on after I've eaten the goodies that everyone brings in... ( I've left some warm Welsh Cakes for you all...to keep you going until the next culinary delight arrives). We walked off our brunch ( well maybe the equivalent of a slice of bacon) along the Mersey...I pointed out the famous buildings on the Liverpool side to DOH including Paddy's wigwam...the Catholic Cathedral built about the time my Dad died in 1964 ( I was 9). His name is one of the earliest in the book of remembrance. It's been a bitter sweet weekend in many ways and a reminder to tell your loved ones that you love them (as often as you can)...and cherish every day with them...
The dogs have made it very clear to me that posting on GN when their dinner is due is not acceptable and as Luna the Italian Mastiff had now climbed onto my lap and I'm having to type holding the phone on the air... I'd better go for now before I lose all sensation in my legs as she weighs 6 stone. Have a lovely evening all. X

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! What a beautiful wee great grandson you have, he's the picture of health, and maybe a wee bit of mischief!

Blossoming, enjoy your time in Galloway. We spent yesterday in Portpatrick. We had our picnic at the beach, I had a wee paddle in the sea ? then we sat and watched the boats coming and going, and some youngsters on paddle boards, all in lovely sunshine ☀ 21 degrees!

TOYA, take care.

Blossoming Tue 30-Aug-22 15:27:48

Leave your troubles on the doorstep, GrannyGravy. Isn’t that the words of a song?

Pittcity Tue 30-Aug-22 15:14:20

I'm always here in the background TOYA x

GrannyGravy13 Tue 30-Aug-22 15:08:19

MawtheMerrier I know how you feel, I felt like abandoning GN this morning, budge up and make room for a small one ☕️?

Blossoming Tue 30-Aug-22 15:01:41

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. It’s distinctly Autumnal here today, still sunny but a chilly wind. Mr. B has been for his dental check up, all is fine. I have been coddiwompling, only 30 minutes today Soop as my lower back is having a tantrum. I have some lovely black ankle boots that I haven’t worn since the start of the pandemic. They will be ideal for wearing with a dress and leggings (in lieu of tights, which I can’t put on) when we are away. The leather is quite stiff so I’ve been wearing them about the house to let my feet get used to them. I’ve also done 2 hours of Gaelic.

I hope Pittcity and Cornergran will drop in again some time.

Hope you’re all having a good day whatever you’re doing. I’ve lost track of everything over the last few days!

soop Tue 30-Aug-22 15:00:06

Maw You are perfectly safe with us lot. I guarantee it. flowers

brook Yet more delightful photographs. Your energy does you proud. Very well done.

Blossoming I am extremely impressed that you are mastering the very tricky Gaelic language. I really must pedal away very soon. Missing out on yesterday's wotsit was unavoidable. I was far too bushed to mount the bike, let alone ride it.

Here is last night's sunset for you all. The sun is gradually moving further away and not directly in front of our sitting room window (as it does in the height of summer).

Blossoming Mon 29-Aug-22 22:50:58

Is there a little corner of sanity on here where I can shelter?
I have come across so many negative posts (elsewhere) from people I have never heard of before who seem bent on criticising and demonising perfectly nice “ordinary” Gransnetters.
I hardly dare peep above the parapet, so I have decided not to go there because I feel it is like being in a strange country.
Don’t even need cake!

Blossoming Mon 29-Aug-22 20:53:54

Soop I think you’ve had more than enough exercise for one day! Your casserole sounds lovely GrandmaBatty as does the pie LadyLL. I’m full of toad-in-the-hole, it’s turned quite autumnal this afternoon. Served up with plenty of veg and garlicky onion gravy.
Great pics Brook, I have a friend lives in Burton Bradstock and it looks like a lovely place. I’m enjoying the Gaelic studies, there’s no pressure and I can go at my own pace. Languages were my favourite subjects at school.
Goodnight all, I think I will fall asleep early tonight. My current audiobook is John Guy’s excellent biography of Mary, Queen of Scots. I pop on my Aeropex, set the audiobook sleep timer to one hour and turn off the lights. Works every time, unless my rebellious tum decides to wake me up. Fingers crossed it will behave tonight grin

Hi all, I wish we had such a neighbourhood community Yia we’re on a through road, neighbours fine, but no such events.
You’ve certainly got the weather for yomping brook not surprised you’re starving, enjoy dinner.
I’ve had an odd day, MrJ has a problem with his car, gearbox, so he took mine to work. I hadn’t planned on going anywhere, but because I couldn’t, I felt unsettled. Took out the two courgette plants, they’ve been great, but now finished, so I sowed some beetroot and winter carrots in the space. No car tomorrow either, my daughter will take me to bowls, I’m having some (free) tuition.
Enjoy your evening x

brook2704 Mon 29-Aug-22 19:09:30

What a gorgeous wee boy soop you’ve certainly got your fair share of good looks in your lovely family!
Another warm sunny day here, too hot for walking up big hills really but we had to do it .. today we went from Charmouth up and over Golden Cap and onto Burton Bradstock where we’re staying in a little Airbnb just off the beach.
I could do with some of that steak casserole and dumplings please grandmabatty sounds yummy and I’m starving!
It’s lovely when neighbours get on and enjoy each other’s company Yia
Hope your Gaelic is going well Blossoming I really am impressed with you learning that difficult language!

Grandmabatty Mon 29-Aug-22 17:51:58

What a gorgeous wee boy Soop. That sounds like a lovely time Yiayia. Blossoming I've done an hour of Spanish today.
Steak casserole is bubbling away in the slow cooker. I'm about to add dumplings. I picked up a quilt for my bed from Next earlier and bought pastel paper and a plush pumpkin. I couldn't resist! I've had a lazy day without either or both boys visiting. I've been watching Miss Marple on the drama channel as I love Joan Hickson. Have a good evening Kitcheners.
