Mostly I don’t on here, especially the political ones. I think life is too short and half of the few I have looked at either want a subscription or don’t work anyway. Just occasionally there is a really good one( like the free knitting patterns) but do we really need so many ?

Thanks.
That will be handy for me, as I'm sure I turn things on and off without understanding what I'm doing half the time.

Oh, yes.

I suppose it would still be possible if I had gone in the shop and used my Clubcard. Though I haven't been in the shop since about 2010.

If I had had someone from Age UK go and get the stuff for me and the advert appeared now that would be twilight zone stuff.

I’m sure your aware of this.

www.theguardian.com/money/2013/jun/08/supermarkets-get-your-data.

A relative of mine works in high end retail. If you were to book an appointment to view one of these high end products he would have you favourite coffee, biscuits, cake ( any other snacks you might like)
How does he know this? Data: mainly gathered from a store card.

I never buy high end retail, so not worried about that.
Bottom of the bargain basement, that's me.

I wish I could afford high end retail that sounds great.

I have an adblocker, so the only links I see are those included in posts on GN, or, very occasionally facebook.

It is so easy to download an adblocker and, while a few sites will block you unless you turn it off, there is nothing online that cannot be found from an alternative site that does not object to ad blockers.

Between my adblocker and the assiduity in which I unsubscribe from junk mail from companies I buy from, my online life is almost advert free.

That way almost every link I see is pertinent and safe.

Everyone could do the same, Monica. It is made easy for you by your browser, and sites like Google have settings which can restrict the number of ads you get.

I don't think just buying from Tesco in person, and showing your Clubcard, would trigger the ads - but I could be wrong.

Talking of Clubcards, I have just bought six months of delivery charges from Tesco, for £29.95 - but I used £10 worth of my Clubcard vouchers to pay, which got me three times their value. So I will get unlimited deliveries, including next-day ones (though only after 3pm) for £10 for the next six months. Two deliveries a month would normally have cost at least £5 a month, or £30 so I have saved at least £20.

He would have hard work with me. I do not snack so do not buy biscuits, and cakes, when I buy them, come from one of several local farm shops and I buy all my coffee in France.
