Some things already done - dogs out early but only in the garden as still too hot for walks. Fed the dogs, fed the 2 adult cats and 2 recently acquired 10 week kittens and cleaned litter trays. Have to take time for some cuddles before my breakfast.
Changed the bed, washed bedding and out to dry. Load of coloured washing out to dry. Vacc mat in kitchen. Cooked some new potatoes ready for salad. Much too hot to do any of the gardening or even sit under the parasol so decided to watch some gymnastics on t.v.!

Callistemon21 I have never blanched runner beans before freezing. Just slice and put them in a freezer bag. I don't iron either ?

Repackage and return the "pirate pool" I got for the grandchildren, unfortunately it would not inflate properly. I have it packed, done the return online, just have to physically take it back to the shop. Talking myself in and out of that part.

Dreadful night last night. Spent the first half in the cooler bedroom downstairs, then for some forgotten reason went upstairs DH still downstairs. So a bit discombobulated today, so doing nothing at all until this evening.

Making a fruit jelly
Cleaning out freezer
Doing some filing
Trying out new iron
Pottering in the garden
Watching the 100 cricket.

I didn’t set my sights high as it’s Saturday, it’s very hot, and….I’ll think of something else in a minute. Regrettably I fear only the first and last items will have been accomplished.

However, on Monday I will definitely………

I don’t want to cook, couldn’t decide what we wanted to eat today, so I threw a rolled shoulder of lamb into the slow cooker, with a couple of onions and a carrot. First time I have done a whole roast, so we shall see how it turns out later on. Meanwhile I am staying out of the kitchen which is south facing. Might try my study for half an hour, otherwise I am catching up with the newspapers.

Too much:

Hook up drip hose for veg plot
Plant spuds
Plant broad beans and peas
Move rose
Move hydrangea
Weed rose bed
Weed veg plot
Plant rhubarb
Plant up shrubs/perennials
Sort compost bins
Tidy patio
Tidy terrace
Check the bees
Tip run
Tidy front bed, prune roses
Weed replant Dad's border
Reinstate path in veg plot destroyed by previous gardeners

None will be done as it is just short of 34 degrees and our garden faces due south!

Dh and I have been working hard all work tidying up and re-arranging his workshop and (whisper this, so no-one hears: throwing a quantity of oddments, kept because they might come in useful OUT).

So today's to-do list began as usual with washing-up and bed-making, feeding the kittens and cleaning their tray.

Then I cycled down to the dump with my cargo bikeful of rubbish (see above) before either of us could change our minds about the "things that might come in useful if kept".

Then we both walked round the local summer do run by the local shopkeepers - it isn't grand enough to be called a fair, did some shopping, came home and then spent an hour reminding the two kittens of the things they are NOT ALLOWED TO DO!

On that particular to -do list was not jumping up onto the kitchen counter even when raw mince is being packed to go into the freezer. (Yes, we know Tigger, completely unreasonable).

Not eating the leather shoe laces of master's shoes, (Tigger again)

Not jumping up onto the bathroom window-sill (which is too high up for a safe landing) and knocking various tubes of sun-cream, hair lotion, ointment, nail clippers and a tin of hair pins onto the floor. (Trubel's contribution. )
Not running out of the back door, as we came back in. (Both).

Kittens due to be vaccinated on Wednesday, so are NOT ALLOWED OUTSIDE YET.

The rest of DH's and my to-do-list for today is to relax, with various renderings of the kittens' list da capo al fin for the rest of the day. (Bathroom door firmly shut, and mercifully they can't open the freezer).

I’m putting off anything remotely physical until next week when it will be cooler. This heat makes me good for nothing except reading!

Alioop Sat 13-Aug-22 12:06:54

Bedclothes washed☑️
Dog walked, bathed & groomed☑️
Bathroom all cleaned ( cause of dog....)☑️
Flowers all dead headed ☑️
Big, no huge, basket of ironing.... tomorrow!

Rosina Sat 13-Aug-22 12:06:20

Out early to buy flowers and wine for visiting tomorrow.
On phone for half an hour trying to sort out newspaper subscription for third time - think it is done now but won't hold breath.
Grass cut - looks better , surprisingly, in spite of Weetabix appearance.
Washed delicate things - now dry as crisps on the line!
Too hot to function now - might read new book this afternoon.

Happysexagenarian Sat 13-Aug-22 12:06:10

Keeping cool
Reading my new book
Trying not to doze off in the heat

There's a million things I should be doing to prepare for visitors but I just can't be bothered.... maybe next week, if it's cooler.

Witzend Sat 13-Aug-22 12:01:16

Bus into town later to M&S, not that I feel like it at all, because I badly need new bras - current ones starting to fall apart. Also Boots, because I can’t find the only lipstick I possess at the moment. Where on earth it is God knows - used it in the car the other day but it’s not there, nor in my bag. Shall buy 2 this time. Might even have enough Boots points to pay for them.?

Coco51 Sat 13-Aug-22 12:00:57

Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow!

Patsy429 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:58:48

I must, must do my writing homework for my U3A class on Monday. I've had two weeks to do it and yet again it's left to the last minute. But the topics have not inspired me! Help please on : a fence or a barrier; a cloud; never again! See what I mean?

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 11:54:07

I really have got so, so much to do today, that can't be left.
My flat is in a terrible, terrible state. blush

HowVeryDareYou Sat 13-Aug-22 11:51:20

I've done 2 lots of washing, hung it all out. I'll tidy up upstairs later (when the GC have gone out) and change my bed. Not much else, it's going to be too hot today

Cabbie21 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:34:34

Today I popped over the road to Aldi before breakfast for a few things. Then I cleaned the bathroom and washed the kitchen floor, pushed the Shark round the most used areas.
Not sure how much else I can be bothered to do today as it is too hot. I have not made a list yet today.
