Which posters did you have on your wall in your teens

David Cassidy was my first poster pinup, I used to tape all the songs off the TV when The Partridge Family was on. I hung a microphone over the TV and my whole family had to stay quiet! My brother often didn't oblige.
Then I moved onto Roger Taylor of Queen, the hair, his eyes mmm.

It was of the full band, playing at a concert. Mick was closest to the camera. Taken in perspective, the full postage stamp was required to cover the area. She even had to turn it slightly on the diagonal to gain maximum coverage. I did try to steam it off but took some of the trousers off with it. Was never the same.

a postage stamp, *Baggytrazzas? I just hope for the sake of Mick's reputation that it was a very small poster!

The Osmonds, i loved Merrill, still have a signed poster in my bedroom, but not on the wall.
And i still have all of the Osmonds World magazines.

Also George Best and Charlie George,he played for Arsenal if my memory serves me correctly.

I did have one of The Rolling Stones with Mick wearing extremely tight trousers that might as well have been see through. I came home one day to find my mum had licked a postage stamp and stuck it over the offending area of his trousers!

steady on there MissA.

I wasn't allowed posters on my walls, but had a big cupboard in my (tiny) bedroom so mine were stuck on the inside of the door, one on top of the others depending upon the current idol, and if I was in the room I just opened the door and there they were waiting for me.

I remember David Cassidy was up for a long time, there were others but I can't remember who, not Elvis, or The Beatles, or Donny Osmond.

Anti-Apartheid: Boycott South African Goods. In the fanlight above the door of our study at boarding school. They were up for some time, until the headmaster put his head round the door and, very politely, asked us to take them down as they were limiting the amount of light getting through to the corridor.

We had no answer to that.

Oh Dear - a lot of youngsters on here. My bedroom walls were covered in posters from the centre of Boyfriend magazine. Brian Hyland was next to my pillow, then there was Kookie, Fabian, Bobby Vee and Billy Fury. (I did get to see both Brian Hyland and Bobby Vee years later at one of the reunion tours)

Then my dad would say "you'd think with all his money he could afford a shirt to go under that suit".

Sounds as if boarding school was a laugh a minute!

Seriously, that sounds horrendous.

What is sad, too, is that I met a good few elderly people who were as unsettled in care homes, too.
Enforced communal living.

the only thing i ever put on my wall was the schedule for O-levels, with mine highlighted.
it was v large, A1 size and the only place i could find to put it was across the 2 wardrobe doors.
these built-in, painted white.
i would not have dreamed of damaging the wall-paper by attaching anything to it.
at boarding school i was the only one who did not display any personal items/pictures in my cubicle.
i hated the idea of exposing my soul to anyone, esp the enemy, ie powers that be, staff.
looking back, perhaps the other inmates were more confident that i was, and didn't see the need for discretion. but i have always been a loner.
difficult in enforced communal living. hideous.

My faves were Elvis and the Beatles but I do remember having a full length picture of Jimi Hendrix on my wall around 1968 just to annoy my mother. I thought it was fashionable and cool, and liked his music at the time, but I wasn't really a fan.

FlexibleFriend Sat 13-Aug-22 09:49:55

Steve Mcqueen on his motorbike and Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates

MayBee70 Sat 13-Aug-22 09:49:31

Pink Floyd (when Syd was still with them) and newspaper cuttings of racehorses, which were the only horses I ever saw.

Athrawes Sat 13-Aug-22 09:43:33

Richard Chamberlain - Dr Kildare. My dad even taped [no video in those days] one of his episodes for me and I played it again and again in my room.

Abitbarmy Sat 13-Aug-22 09:31:11

David Cassidy, Elvis, Marc Bolan, David Essex plus some weird ones such as Che Guevara (?) and some hippy type ones with meaningful prose on them. I think we could order those from some sort of catalogue.
