MissAdventure ???

There's a man on youtube who bought a lobster from the food department of a store, but has set up a big tank for him. smile
Leon the lobster leads a very orderly life, and has gained lots of fans.

I forgot lobsters and crabs, and anything else that’s boiled alive.

When people who do it and tell me they don’t feel it, I just hope they get reincarnated as a crab or lobster, and see how they like it.

In any case, any least with lobsters. I gather that there’s a quick and humane way of killing them with a skewer through a certain point on their heads.

Liver, shellfish, avocado (makes me ill) anything slimy.

goose1964 Sun 14-Aug-22 11:46:58

Snails, liver, broad beans or butter beans, it's a texture thing.

Hate sprouts , in any shape or form, disguise them if you like and it’s still a no no! Also any thing which came out of a pig, sheeps or cows stomach! And just to be trendy, tofu !

Babs758 Sun 14-Aug-22 09:07:50

Tripe, very soft boiled eggs where the white is not set. Fried herring roe, sea urchins (fishy equivalent of tripe)

I love oysters and whelks and sweetbreads though.

BigBertha1 Sun 14-Aug-22 07:42:19

Black pudding and sausage casserole.grin

An African.

MissAdventure Sun 14-Aug-22 01:27:10

Thankfully, I think my parents had a healthy dislike of extreme eating.

Or maybe they couldn't bear the thought of my reaction?

I went out with a African guy who ate "cow foot". hmm

Cheeks anyone?

Eurgh! I remember my father eating pig's cheeks. Huge lumps of shiny white fat with a tiny sliver of pale pink flesh in the middle. Bleurgh!

HettyBetty Sat 13-Aug-22 23:12:24

Meat or fish of any kind.
Milk or products containing it.
Eggs.

Shinamae - we fairly often had a pig's head sitting in brine in the pantry. Dad cooked one for any occasion where there would be a buffet going on! It would be dressed up for the table with cherries and angelica and have an orange in its mouth. He would carve it.
I have a vague memory of brains spooned out like paté (is that likely??).

Cheeks anyone?

I don’t know that he ate the brains and I believe the pigs cheeks were called chaps. My dad never used to dress it,I think he just used to boil it,get it out the pan and eat it…?..

Cod roe, my Mum loved it but the smell alone is enough to put anyone off.

One of my favourite things to eat was hard herring roe but I haven’t seen it about for years, I think maybe the fish are caught too young now…..

Heinz beans or butter beans. Revolting!

Yes please to any other type of bean. ?‍♀️

Chrissielou Sat 13-Aug-22 18:23:59

Avocado, hot milk, tripe, octopus, oysters and most offal. There's more but I need to eat supper and it's putting me off grin

anything made with goats milk; boiled milk; Manchester tart; custard or rice pudding with skin; kidney

Eeek! Manchester Tart, custard etc am exactly the same - remember being sat on my own in the school dining room whilst Mrs Pearson from Class 5 stood over whilst |I point blank refused to eat Manchester Tart! I would eat the swirl of cream off the top and drop the lump of custard out and eat the pastry and jam, but the custard, NO! Same with the milk puddings - others used to lick their spoon and 'bagsy' the skin, as far as I was concerned they were welcome to it! But their cheese pie was delicious and I have never found anything like it since - wasn't a quiche all eggy, was just like a lovely pastry case full of warm red soft cheese, yummy!

^Tongue - how could you taste something that may well be tasting you back? ^

MissAdventure I remember as a small child my Gran used to buy an ox tongue from the butcher. She boiled it, placed it between 2 plates and put a heavy brick on top to compress the meat. It was left like that for days. Then sliced for sandwiches. I can still remember how disgusted I felt as a curious 4 year old when I asked what it was. It was the set up with the brick that made me ask or I’d have been none the wiser ?

Bizarrely, I used to eat the stuff - I knew it was called TONGUE, but never related the actual word to being a tongue from an animal! Not eaten it since I knew what it was though!

Eels, snails, frogs legs, hot milk puddings like tapioca, sago, semolina, rice pudding as I cannot abide the smell of them, custard the same, but the one thing that most people would eat and I can't even go near is BUTTER, or even worse, margarine (particularly Flora!) Not entirely sure why, but apparently I did use to eat Lurpack neat out of the fridge as a child - I am almost phobic about the stuff now, although it's ok in a cake for example, cooked ....

Baggytrazzas

honestly, some of you must have made your parents lives a misery at mealtimes! shock

Yup. Many a day spent staring at food on my plate as it got colder and more inedible. My mum was a great cook and a fantastic baker but I was really fussy. I still am. I have been invited to an afternoon tea; have to request no.butter, vegetarian fillings only and you wouldn't believe what a drama this is. But it shouldn't be.

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 16:01:28

I don't like butter beans, either. cries
Well, I could and would eat them if necessary, so they're not in the same category as fluffy wabbits, and chicky doodles.
