Mine would be kebabs and jellied eels ?

tanith Fri 12-Aug-22 22:44:11

Frogs legs and snails ?

Razzamatazz Fri 12-Aug-22 22:45:39

Frogs legs, snails, veal, tripe, heart, and oxtail soup.

Chewbacca Fri 12-Aug-22 22:51:48

Liver, tripe, escargot, frog legs, beetroot.

Georgesgran Fri 12-Aug-22 22:58:34

Any sort of offal. Snails and frogs legs. Tried an oyster years ago - yuck!
I don’t eat meat now, but when I did, I couldn’t contemplate eating anything that could be a pet - dog, deer, rabbit, horse etc

MissAdventure Fri 12-Aug-22 23:00:53

A long, long list, probably.
Jellied eels would be on it, for sure.

My nan used to make her own.

It was quite normal to find eels swimming around in her bath until the chop came.

Tongue - how could you taste something that may well be tasting you back?

An eyeball. I saw that on some sort of Victorian living programme.
It was plonked in the middle of pate plate.

Meat and fish

merlotgran Fri 12-Aug-22 23:05:48

Definitely eels.

I lived just outside Ely for 45 years and thought it was just my luck to pitch up in a place synonymous with a food I couldn’t stand. ?

Kate1949 Fri 12-Aug-22 23:09:37

Prawns
Tinned tomatoes
Belly pork
Fat on meat

Bodach Fri 12-Aug-22 23:17:36

I honestly cannot think of anything I would not eat - either in extremis, or if the payment was attractive enough.

Deedaa Fri 12-Aug-22 23:21:28

Pretty much all the above, except for tinned tomatoes which are essential for most of my cooking. I also hate milk so would never eat any sort of milk pudding and especially junket which is just slime.

Bodach Fri 12-Aug-22 23:22:32

I have occasionally answered the question "Do you have any specific dietary requirements?" with "I prefer large portions"...

Kate1949 Fri 12-Aug-22 23:23:11

Deedaa. I should have said tinned tomatoes on their own, on toast for instance. We use them a lot in cooking.

Blossoming Fri 12-Aug-22 23:24:29

Anything from McDonalds

ElaineI Fri 12-Aug-22 23:43:37

Oh my word! This is making me feel squeamish ?

Baggytrazzas Sat 13-Aug-22 00:39:49

I would probably manage to force down most things, for the right amount of money, apart from live worms or maggots, like those seen on some reality tv shows a while ago, such as " Endurance" .

Baggytrazzas Sat 13-Aug-22 00:45:31

Apart from dogs,
jellied eels and eyeballs, ( please not all on the one plate ) I've eaten everything else mentioned above. Some only the once, others regularly, such as beetroot sandwiches yum yum.

Nothing was actually disgusting, to my refined palate, a lot of the things were quite ordinary and tasted mainly of what they had been cooked in. Some of the textures though we're difficult to deal with, eg oysters and snails.

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 00:48:33

I couldn't do any of the food challenges on 'I'm a celebrity'.
Staff and residents used to greatly enjoy seeing how long it took me to start retching when the programme was on - if I got to the point of not being able to hold it in, then that was even better, apparently.

Periwinkles (whelks), although as a child, I loved using a pin to pull them out of their shells for my maternal g’parents who both loved them. They just look like big dirty snotters to me.
Tripe, again my g’parents both loved it and often ate it, the smell was horrific to me.
Escargots, insects/grubs, sweetbreads.
And you’d have to pay me a huge amount of money to eat raw celery, anything coconutty, peanutty or sesame flavoured. My daughter loves dipping celery in peanut butter to eat, it smells like vomit to me ?

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 01:00:26

I like peanuts, and celery, and tinned tomatoes.
Also, belly pork (done crispy!) as long as nobody says the words "belly pork" while I'm eating it.

Baggytrazzas Sat 13-Aug-22 01:01:57

Grannydarkhair, I am digressing slightly - but snotters is a really brilliant word isn't it?

I too remember people pulling whelks from shells with pins although I didn't, and in some places in Glasgow where there were outdoor markets with stalls selling cooked whelks along with a safety pin, you could not walk a single step without crunching on empty shells that were several inche's deep.

paddyann54 Sat 13-Aug-22 01:04:11

anything that had feathers ,raw fish ,anything thats still breathing .Im better than I used to be though ,I didn't eat apples or dairy produce or eggs cooked any other way than boiled for years .Then I became vegetarian ,because it was easier than telling folk my odd dietary issues .That lasted 12 years before I got sick of mushroom stroganoff or veggie lasagne every time we went out to eat .I.m much more "normal " now .lol

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 01:04:12

Is it whelks that have a sort of brown "cap" on?
Shudder!
You can stick them to your face to make a beauty spot.

Baggytrazzas Sat 13-Aug-22 01:07:17

You can stick them anywhere you like

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 01:09:28

grin
Thanks.
I don't eat anything fishy though, that pong puts me off.
Nope.
