Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry ,cloudless this morning for a start of another hot day here in brackley this morning.
I hope the weather breaks and we get some much needed rain plus fresher air .
I plan to be watching Euro cycling from Munich on Eurosport , what is interesting as to the coverage as events are covered by BBBC as well , the BBC broadcast is 90 seconds behind Eurosport when show live .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where the Haar hasn't lifted and it's a cool 14°C.
No rain yet
I have been watering my precious tiny oak tree daily.
I grannie-sat last night for DMiL and all was well until I went to start the stairlift. It wasn't at the bottom and I had to climb into it to make it get back down so she could get on. Don't you need the safety belt? I asked. Oh no I don't bother with that. Amazing that she made it to her bed with me in charge of technology.
.Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Yesterday was another scorcher so I prepared the garden furniture in case visitors wanted to sit in the garden.
Sister and BIL came first and we took our Prosecco and no alcohol beer to sit under the parasol.
DS and family arrived, drank tea and joined us in the garden, GDs didn't because they had important things to do on their screens.
Family went for a walk while I worked in a hot kitchen, I cooked a very large gammon joint, not the best idea but it was demolished.
SIL will visit this afternoon and we will make dinner together, one of our favourite currys.
Have a good day.

Good morning from a Oxfordshire, see if you can fill in the blank!

MzOops and family left very late last night in my car and arrived in Cornwall sometime early this morning, I was too pooped to stay up and see them safely home via the App.
Their car arrived yesterday afternoon and will be looked at sometime this week. Meanwhile I have beds to change and clean hopefully before it gets too hot.

MissOops dog will be here later for her usual stay until tomorrow night, we are almost back to normal. Unfortunately our new neighbour has 2 new dogs and at the moment they are ver barky, I don’t think our dog will like it and will probably have to be kept indoors to prevent her from trying to get to them and sort them out.

Salad today and I’ll be doing very little else, stay cool everyone.

MrOops said last Monday that he heard thunder, but it was next door putting out the wheeely bin.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and the haar is down. It cleared yesterday too Brook but later than 9. A beautiful quilt Grandmattie. Sorry to hear that you are feeling rotten Marydoll.
Yesterday was an expensive day. After housework and Aldi,I nipped to the garden centre to buy mum a birthday present as they have a lovely selection of stuff. I wanted some herbs too. When I left, I had somehow also bought a twisted hazel tree as well! I have always wanted one but I don't know what came over me as it was ridiculously expensive. It's done now and is in a very large pot in the back garden.
Today we are going out for lunch as a family to celebrate mum's birthday. We are going to the Golf Club near my aunt and uncle. This was mum's choice and a million miles away from her usual haunt, however it is easier to get into. She refuses to discuss it, but her lack of mobility really shows now. Anyway, after that I'll do little. Have a good day all.

Morning Mick and all

Hello newbies ??

Blue sky and the temperature is rising here in my little corner of S E Essex. Another day in the garden, I will have to browse my kindle for a book I haven’t read (there are loads).

DH will BBQ this evening I shall be in salad duties.

grandMattie looks like the beginning of a beautiful quilt.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

GrannySomerset Sun 14-Aug-22 08:41:04

My garden is usually a symphony of different greens, the result of previous owners who were keen gardeners (we will say nothing about the state of the house when we bought it) but it looks so sad and desiccated as I have only watered the pots. No real rain in the foreseeable future either.

Church this morning but nothing else planned which requires effort. Best go and shower and get started before I lose the will entirely!

Jaxjacky Sun 14-Aug-22 08:58:24

Good they’re all home safe Oops after such a fraught time for everyone.

Mapleleaf Sun 14-Aug-22 08:59:35

Good morning all,

It’s a greyer start to the day today, though I think it won’t be long before the sun breaks through. This really hot spell is supposed to begin breaking down from tomorrow so with luck we should have more comfortable nights for sleeping.

Will potter about today. Went to the garden centre yesterday for lunch, and for a change came home empty handed - most unusual ?.

Your patchwork is looking lovely grandMattie.

Well, take care everyone and try to keep as cool as you can. I’m off to draw the blinds again now as the sun is beginning to break through.

Georgesgran Sun 14-Aug-22 08:59:37

Good morning from Durham. A cool start, but another hot, sunny day to come. Washing already out to dry.
DD2 came yesterday and I found a little paddling pool in my garage - there’s so much ‘child’ stuff in there, I hardly know what - for him to sit in.
Have kept her older dog, as it saves a 50 mile trip to get him tomorrow.
I need to see a friend today, as she’s having a big operation tomorrow and the outcome is uncertain.
Best wishes to our poorly GNs, hope everyone has a good day, whatever comes along.

luluaugust Sun 14-Aug-22 09:23:56

Good morning all from W Kent. Out to lunch today with DS and DIL they are now at the stage when the children are off doing their own thing so a bit of grown up time for us all.
Heard from an old friend (in every sense) yesterday that she will be in our area next week, we haven't met for five years and guess we are all going to be in for a shock.
Take care everyone.

aggie Sun 14-Aug-22 09:28:35

Good morning everyone from a lovely sunny Co Armagh , actually there’s high cloud and a tiny breeze round my ankles
Bit of watering completed so I had breakfast outside , later I will retreat to a dark living room
I’ve been trundling buckets and watering cans round the garden on the seat of my Walker and it hasn’t done the seat much good , I’ll have to clean it up before I venture into the wide wide world ! Mind you that’s a shrinking violet at the moment !
Best wishes to all for as good a day as possible xxx

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. Had a lovely lie in. We are totally chilling today as DH is working from tomorrow for a few months and I have GS all day tomorrow so resting up today.

GM that’s gorgeous patchwork you talented lady.
? to Shinamae and Spice.
Ash when we came to Torquay last year we went down the cliff on the tram. Beautiful area. We were so impressed with the model village at Babbacombe as well.

PollyDolly my friend has that artificial grass which always looks green and hoovered. Mmm! We were sitting on her arbour last night and she said ‘you see that lump there, well DH left one of his tools under there. He hasn’t noticed it and I’m not going to tell him because I don’t want the whole thing lifting again. I’ll wait until he’s looking for it’.
It was so funny ?
I walked into their back garden later and announced loudly ‘oh I think it’s drizzly’ everyone looked up to the clear evening sky puzzled. I then realised it was the sparkling water I was carrying fizzing on my hand. I can be very dozy at times lol.

Marydoll?

Have a good day everyone only a couple more days of this heat to go.
Thoughts to those feeling ill and to those struggling with stress and worries. ??

BlueSapphire Sun 14-Aug-22 09:43:29

Good morning everyone from another sunny ? day in Northampton. No plans as such or today, shall just.drift through it. Got up at 6am for the loo, went back to bed and next thing I was waking up at 8.45. I think the cats have now.forgiven me for their indignity on Friday!

Luckily there was a lovely breeze yesterday.so I was able to.use.my shady spot in the garden for most of the day. Haven't been out yet this morning, but have some washing to hang out shortly.

Bacon butty later, and rack of lamb is tonight's dinner.

That will be a lovely quilt, grandMattie, I am sure you will enjoy making it.

Hope we all find some shade and coolness today.

hulahoop Sun 14-Aug-22 09:45:41

Morning from a bit cooler West York's ,another not doing much day ,the roads to coast are still very busy !my son rang yesterday to tell us Gc who stayed with us have not shut up about where we went and what we did ,so although we were shattered it's good to know they enjoyed being with us ,have a good day whatever you doing.

hollysteers Sun 14-Aug-22 10:17:00

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Another quiet day which I’m pleased about and my handyman/gardener is coming. I’ll carry on working on my songs for next week and particularly enjoying the Cole Porter songs.
Tried my dress on for said event and it still fits with the help of Spanx like pull on, but I need something stronger as my tummy is a little larger than I like…
I hope the nosebleeds mentioned yesterday have stopped, I had a patch of that, it’s just horrible and had a cauterisation.
Have a nice day and thoughts to anyone with worries.

Kalu Sun 14-Aug-22 10:43:00

Good morning all from another lovely sunny day with a welcome breeze in Glasgow.

I did a Waitrose shop and hung out a load of washing yesterday so today, I will please myself and potter around the garden, read my book or do whatever takes my fancy. Bliss
As black doesn’t suit me Marydoll I would be planning what to wear with an anthracite linen jacket, it sounds lovely.
Good job with the stairlift Grammaretto. A woman of many talents?
It may be time to invest in a garden parasol if you have no shade in the afternoon. I don’t sit in the sun at all but under a parasol with some breeze feels quite pleasant.

Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today.

Kalu Sun 14-Aug-22 10:44:51

Oops! The garden parasol was a suggestion for you Greyduster.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 14-Aug-22 11:07:48

Gingster I believe the two day festival is East Beach Shoeburyness.

(Just over the road from middle son’s house, who I guess will not be going but sitting in the garden and listening to it.)

Marydoll Sun 14-Aug-22 11:28:36

Kalu, I have a linen dress, which is an unusual shade of yellow/orange, but has flowers with a touch of black.
Wearing the jacket will extend its use.
I will post a photo tomorrow. (Unless its a disaster! ?)

Grammaretto Sun 14-Aug-22 11:44:20

Thanks Kalu for your faith in me. smile
It was a huge relief when I worked it out.
