Rain! If you’re in the SE, have you had any?

We had a fair bit last night in outer SW London - not nearly enough of course, but proper rain for maybe half an hour, and it’s blissfully cool this morning - at least compared to the oven-like temps recently.
More please! ?

Sptting on and off Mid Norfolk

We had heavy rain for 3 hours this morning in Surrey. My daughters left early lunchtime for 3 days camping with granddaughters and 2 school friends. How unlucky were they after so much dry weather , they are predicted more rain for at least part of tomorrow. Campsite is only 40 minutes drive away so weather will be the same I think. Glad I’ll still be in a real bed tonight! My camping days are well over!

A friend and I had lunch, outside, in Oxford today. A light sprinkling of rain, but not enough to send us indoors. Later, as I walked home I needed to use my brolly, but only because I was just wearing a light summer dress. There was a huge hole in the road in Oxford; burst water main. That was providing plenty of water!! But unfortunately it was all going to waste. shock

My brother in Herts says that although the weather news says it’s been raining there, they haven’t seen a drop.

Just got in from my shopping trip at 1.30 and the skies opened - a real downpour with thunder and lightning. It lasted about 40 minutes and was lovely!
Back to sunshine now, though nothing like as hot and more rain coming.
Grandma70s I'm in Bedfordshire so hope your brother has the same sort of rain as we have had soon.

Had a heavy downpour a couple of hours ago which lasted about 20 minutes. The sun's shining and very humid. Northamptonshire.

Callistemon21 Tue 16-Aug-22 18:14:33

Here it comes and it's very black out there!
The weather seem to be coming from the North.

London Essex border had two showers yesterday, one was very brief lasted all of five minutes and the second one lasted about an hour maybe. Nothing since then, no thunder and lightening and no torrential rain. It has been quite damp today but no actual rain.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 16-Aug-22 18:48:47

West Oxfordshire: It’s been torrentially raining for the last hour and is forecast to continue all evening. I popped round to my friend’s to water her garden and it didn’t need it! So I fed the fish and came home.

boheminan Tue 16-Aug-22 18:52:49

South Oxfordshire, just a spit now and again, hoping your storm from the West Ladyleftfieldlover will arrive here soon

Great news! It is now pouring with rain in Oxford. Indoors the temperature is a comfortable 22 degrees. smile

Dorset, a light drizzle and warm. I actually sat out in it, very pleasant.

CatCrone Tue 16-Aug-22 19:36:06

Heavy rain in south Northamptonshire

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 16-Aug-22 19:53:33

We’ve finally had not only rain, but hail too. The world has gone mad.

BlueBelle Tue 16-Aug-22 19:56:53

East east and not a drop yet

Sofa Tue 16-Aug-22 20:41:47

We’re in Herts and although forecast, no rain yet!

karmalady Tue 16-Aug-22 21:11:40

A potting tray outside had about 1.5" of rain in it, somerset. That is a good amount, just one hard spell amongst the soft rain but not on a torrential level. One 320 litre water butt filled and passed some over to the second butt. We may need that through september. I am expecting more overnight and tomorrow

JenniferEccles Tue 16-Aug-22 22:29:15

Like most people have said there was nowhere near enough rain, but I was delighted that we at least had some this morning here in Berkshire.
Due for some more tomorrow, so I’m hoping we will get a decent amount then. It will be wonderful when our water butts have refilled.
By the way, I was pleased to see you posting again Germanshepherdsmum
Someone was asking about you a week or so ago.

I was hopeful when we had rain earlier today. Gentle rain that could have soaked into the parched earth because there wasn't enough for run off. As soon as the paths and pavements were fully wet it stopped, when I'd hoped for hours and hours sad Maybe more tomorrow?

Pittcity Wed 17-Aug-22 16:57:28

After a few short showers we are now having a downpour! Hope it clears the mugginess....is that a word????

BlueBelle Wed 17-Aug-22 17:18:17

Still not a drop in east anglia

AskAlice Wed 17-Aug-22 18:15:46

Torrential rain, thunder and lightening here in East Herts since lunchtime. It's easing off a bit now but still steady. We're going to a birds of prey centre tomorrow in Bedfordshire with our two GC so hope it isn't raining while we are there!

travelsafar Wed 17-Aug-22 18:18:34

Not a drop!!!! Have been waiting all day for promised thunder, lightening and rain!!!

NanKate Wed 17-Aug-22 19:54:34

South Bucks occasional drizzle ?

Jaxjacky Wed 17-Aug-22 20:01:09

Despite warnings of floods, risk to life and ‘your Council is ready’ a bit of drizzle this morning and a few half hearted plops at about 6:30, zilch.
Just south of Winchester.
