If you were to appear on Mastermind what would your specialist subject be? Lighthearted?

If I was to appear on Mastermind my specialist subject would possibly be;

Avoidance tactics.
Culinary frugality.
Wines I have known, loved but not remembered.

What would yours be?

Mine would be a geography round - the weird and wonderful places the tops to my 'tupperware' boxes have got to.

Dannirae, I had to persuade dd2 to watch it with me - she thought it’d be boring, but of course was very soon hooked.

That first Christmas after it was on TV, dh bought me the box set (videos then) and the whole lot of us, inc. dh, watched the entire thing that Christmas evening/night.

I’m thinking of putting it on for Gdd (7) next time she comes - which is soon - I think she’s of an age to enjoy it now - funnily enough she used to love the Kate Beckinsale Emma when she was much younger. And it’s certainly preferable to all the trash she likes watching on Netflix!

Procrastination.
Lounging about on chairs.
Knitting.
Peppa Pig.
I'd like two rounds on general knowledge.

The achievements of Boris Johnson as PM. Not much to cover!

Your sense of humour is rather like mine, Yammy! Candid Camera type stuff from years ago.

Yammy Thu 18-Aug-22 17:04:37

If it had to be a film, either "Jewel in the Crown" or "Gone with the wind".

Yammy Thu 18-Aug-22 17:03:07

Things that make someone with a Banana skin humour laugh.
People tripping up including me.
Seagull poo on someone's shoulder.
Dogs jumping at people and licking them,
Not finding films funny that other people do, like Norman Wisdom but finding Monty Python extremely funny.
Giggling at others' misfortune like stepping in Cow muck, DH is attracted like a magnet.

The Victorian era. It may sound dull but it isn’t!

Witzend

Having watched it so many times, Dds and I have often said it would be Who Said What To Whom And When, in the BBC TV Pride and Prejudice. ?

Me too Witzend - I loved that programme and I loved Colin Firth as Mr Darcy. I even wrote to him and months later got a signed photo and a little note back.

My daughters and I often say to one another "And your family, they are well?" or "I will conquer this!"

And to think my daughter had to pursued me to watch it.

We say, ‘This is all extremely vexing!’ (Lady C)

and ‘I have not the pleasure of understanding you,’ (Mr B)

Not to mention ‘The most horrid, disobliging…’. (Mrs B).

Etc. etc.!

Another of my talents is the avoidance of noticing abandoned arachnid ecosystems (aka cobwebs). They tend to lurk high up in corners and I’m sensible and keep my eyes fixed on where I’m going.

MaggieMaybe you look as though you could be a fierce competitor. I love all those intended hobbies! I’ve done some of those too. (Not done, I mean).

Bellanonna Thu 18-Aug-22 11:07:36

Par. Thanks autocorrect ?

Bellanonna Thu 18-Aug-22 11:05:57

Getting lost. I’m your expert. No sense of direction.

Procrastination has been said many times before so I suppose I’d have a lot of competition in a Mastermind final. I’d probably still win though. Procrastinator per excellence.

Tizliz - I’d add dust badgers to my list. A much bigger species.

That’s what they are! I did think they were big for bunnies

Ooh, BigBertha.
I reckon I could have the carry on films as my subject, too.

I think I may still remember enough of the lines, but not sure on any facts about the films. smile

JackyB Wed 17-Aug-22 19:12:46

Common spelling mistakes found on the Internet. (There have been none so far on this thread)

Curlywhirly Wed 17-Aug-22 19:10:32

How to bake a sponge cake that ends up like a thin biscuit
How to make shortcrust pastry that turns out like flaky pastry
How to get paint all over you when glossing woodwork - this takes great skill and is a particular talent of mine.

BigBertha1 Wed 17-Aug-22 15:06:27
