I absolutely love my collection of Bombshell dresses. They are so well cut and flattering, using gorgeous material and I always feel a million dollars in them. They always get compliments - I had a new one in last week & a lady came up to me in the street to say what a beautiful dress I was wearing. I was quite overcome!
serendipity, you look fab!!
Here's me

Angela73 Remembering that Galen always wore her pearls on her cruise's they where the first things she packed when she went away weren't they.

My husband had this black leather jacket made-to-measure for me as a birthday present in 2013. Whether I wear it with shabby jeans, a smart skirt or anything at all, I absolutely love it and feel like a million dollars.
The older it gets, the softer it gets and putting it on always lifts my mood.

My "going away" outfit was fabulous! It was a simple black tie-wasted dress with stunning grey leather boots with gold trim and a matching clutch bag. I carried a fancy grey frilled brolly and also wore a grey plumed Mizzi Lorenz hat with short veil.

My husband had a black 3 piece pin-cord suit and a black trilby. He had a hand-marbled silk tie and pocket handkerchief.

We waved away the wedding as we zoomed off on honeymoon like film stars (it seemed)!

PS. I'm happy to show my face in this photo as I look nothing like it now!

I tend to spend my time in "comfortable" clothing these days but I enjoy getting dressed up on the rare occasion there's an opportunity.
There's a couple of times I've felt like a million dollars.
First time was when I was in a school play aged 14 and I played the part of an 18th century duchess.
My costume was hired from the Nottingham Playhouse and was stunning. I didn't want to give it back!
The second time was my wedding day.
My wedding dress was not one I would have chosen when I saw it hanging up but my dear old mum persuaded me to try it on. I'm glad she did.
I decided to see if I could still fit in it after 10 years of marriage and 2 kids and DH took this photo as proof!
Sad to say I've filled out a bit since then.....but still alive and kicking so I'm thankful for that!

Oh AskAlice what a disaster! Once I started shopping at places like Biba and BusStop I insisted on washing my own clothes - most of them had to be hand washed anyway and I knew my mother wouldn't want to do that.

In 1969 I had a wonderful black crepe culotte dress from BusStop. It was knee length and had a high collar and a big black satin edged ruffle down the front. With sheer black tights, black patent shoes and Mary Quant's "Sexpot" scarlet lipstick it looked wonderful.

Nowadays if I want to look good I have a long skirt fron the Per Una Italian range. Greens, blacks and purples and the skirt is in several layers of different fabrics. I didn't like it when I originally saw it in the shop but I bought it on eBay a couple of years later (and much cheaper) and suddenly loved it. I wear it with a black vest because it doesn't need any more decoration. I just love the way it moves when I walk.

Thanks Serendipity not a million $$$$$$$ as you did, boy you wear that well!
But, it made me feel good out of my normal garb.

Not a million dollars, but making the effort for a lunch out with friends I resisted my normal jeans or shorts. As I only possess one smart dress (the others are long hippy loose things), which is really for winter, I bought this.
It felt quite lovely much to my surprise, I need to find another reason to wear it before summer is done.

Whoaaaa LOVE that Jaxjacky

It looks really fabulous ?

AskAlice Sun 21-Aug-22 19:38:51

I should also add it was my only designer buy as I have never bought anything by a designer since!

AskAlice Sun 21-Aug-22 19:37:56

When I was 17 I managed to buy an Ossie Clark sample dress in a size 8 (my size then, not now!). It was cream crepe with crossover straps at the back and a low V neck. I wore it once to a work "do" and felt like a trillion dollars as it was my first designer buy. My mum picked it up from my bedroom floor the following day and flung it in the washing machine on a hot wash. When it came out, it was Barbie size...I cried for hours!

Glam not grammar - though her grammar is obviously excellent.

On our wedding day.
Then, shortly afterwards, at Christmas, went to mum and dad's, dressed up, and my brother's face was a picture.
I did scrub up well, when I was much younger and slimmer.

Kate1949 Sun 21-Aug-22 16:40:08

I used to feel a million dollars in everything when I was a young woman. Especially in the '60s. I was tall and slim, just the right shape for '60s fashions. Sadly not now. Hey ho. Comes to us all.

Prentice Sun 21-Aug-22 16:34:46

I have never had a garment that I felt $ of any amount in sad to say.
that is ok for me though as I have never liked to be looked at.

NanKate Sun 21-Aug-22 14:16:19

Thank you Serendipity. As the poem goes ‘when I grow old I shall wear purple etc’.

Your dress is so stylish especially the back with the beautiful cross strings ?
