As an antidote to some unpleasantness I think we should have a positive thread.
I would like to start by saying a huge THANK YOU to a lovely gentleman from Brackley.
I may not post but I read your thread and love it’s gentle simplicity and charm.
Thank you.

FannyCornforth, interesting, lively and started the Ask a question thread which I enjoy very much.

Yammy Mon 22-Aug-22 14:56:27

I would like to thank Fanny for always being a team player and trying to keep us all together with her informative posts.flowers

Marydoll who is so inclusive and supportive - a thoroughly good and more important kind person. Here for everybody and who gets the day off to a positive start.

Yes Anniebach who was especially kind to me when I was first diagnosed with cancer. She is so caring about others despite having problems of her own.

Grannynannywanny Mon 22-Aug-22 14:42:06

I first dipped my toes into Gransnet at the start of lockdown as a pupil in Miss Marydoll’s maths class. It was a wonderful escape from the loneliness of lockdown. Most days in class I needed a box of tissues beside me as I laughed so much the tears rolled down my face ?
So 3 cheers and ? for Miss Marydoll ( and all those norty classmates)

Yes, there are some great people on here - I don’t get up early enough to post on Mick’s Goodmorning thread but I love to read what every one is planning for the day. Nosey, that’s what I am ?

MissMarpleknows Mon 22-Aug-22 14:28:57

At a time when I (a lurker only) was very anxious about breast cancer, I received kindness and follow up support from Gransnet without measure. In my dark days, that compassion & kindness kept me going. I’ve found it to be an amazing phenomenon. ?

I read every day and always enjoy. I too was in the MathsClass two years ago and the kindness shown by teacher was so good, especially as I gave the answer away in my very first post. Doodle, Pantglas, Calendar girl, Marydoll and all the others were very patient and it was great fun. I've since changed my name. It was a lot of fun. There are so many kind and helpful posters here!

Doodle Mon 22-Aug-22 14:10:59

I would also like to mention Anniebach who has kept the Black Dog going with support for others for many years, long before I ever joined GN. Her kindness and caring are much valued by many who have passed through seeking comfort and help from someone who understands.

Two big heroes for me. The wonderful Soop. The kitchen was the first place I posted when joining GN and the friendship, fun and empathy given to all has kept it in its rightful place as one of the best threads on GN. Thank you dear Soop

The other is the wonderful Miss Marydoll and her Lockdown Maths Classes. These were the best fun I have ever had on GN and all of us who were involved will never forget the laughter and games. Thank you too Marydoll

I like to read the GM thread started by Mick’s gentle post every day. I find it interesting to see how others plan to spend their day. Some are so busy, some not so - a cross section of life really.
I had a lot of support from various GNs, especially one living in FrenchFrance when my DH died last year. I avoid anything contentious but if someone is looking for info and I have that knowledge, I will post. Sometimes a thread like Miss A’s wandering watering can bring a bit of unexpected humour.
It’s a shame how the longest thread today keeps getting longer.

Another shout out here for MissAdventure, a perceptive poster with a wacky sense of humour.

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 22-Aug-22 13:10:23

I enjoy MissAdventures take on life. Thank you MissA. Also, on a serious note, we have some experts whose posts have helped me learn about so much - from gardening to fiscal policy, which I have loved, so a shout out to those people, too.

A lovely thread, as well as Mick and soop I’d like to add two in particular who’ve pm’d me in times of trouble, I hope you know who you are.

I’d also like to add FannyCornforth for her positivity.

AGAA4 Mon 22-Aug-22 10:56:18

I always read Mick's early morning post. Starts the day off well.
There are a lot of kind people on GN. They don't want to upset others and always have an encouraging word for those that need it.

So a big Thank You to those people. Too many to mention by name even if it was allowed.

glammanana Mon 22-Aug-22 10:53:42
