As an antidote to some unpleasantness I think we should have a positive thread.
I would like to start by saying a huge THANK YOU to a lovely gentleman from Brackley.
I may not post but I read your thread and love it’s gentle simplicity and charm.
Thank you.

Bellanonna Mon 22-Aug-22 09:49:24

A much needed antidote, Sago.

How about a thank you, too, to the lovely lady on Kintyre who despite her own problems always brings humour and kindness to her thread. Plus, of course, pictures of those legendary sunsets!

LauraNorderr Mon 22-Aug-22 09:51:03

I agree Sago, a lovely thought from you.
Three cheers for our Mick who seems to be a gentle quiet soul with a big heart.

Grandmabatty Mon 22-Aug-22 09:51:48

A big hear hear for both! And to you Sago for the thread.

LauraNorderr Mon 22-Aug-22 09:52:16

And a whoop whoop to soop too

lixy Mon 22-Aug-22 09:52:52

My thankyou goes to those who have posted on the gardening thread - advise has saved me so much money, and given me a good giggle into the bargain. smile

Thanks also to Sago for the much-needed dose of positivity.

lixy Mon 22-Aug-22 09:53:56

advise = advice

Kate1949 Mon 22-Aug-22 09:56:11

I agree with all of the above. I would add thanks to the lovely posters (they know who they are) who have taken the trouble to pm me in times of difficulty.

Mollygo Mon 22-Aug-22 09:56:58

My thanks also to the gardening threads. As a not very good gardener I can read others’ advice, admire pictures or ask questions without feeling inadequate.

Joseanne Mon 22-Aug-22 09:59:41

Ooo, yes, the animal lovers, especially those who extend sympathy when a pet dies.

Grandmajean Mon 22-Aug-22 10:07:35

Indeed ! I rarely post but the above mentioned are never snippy with others and exude kindness and tolerance. Probably not allowed to name ( although you'll all know who she is ) the lovely lady who painted a portrait of my son's cats for me while suffering a very debilitating illness.

Redhead56 Mon 22-Aug-22 10:08:46

Unpleasantness does not belong here there is no need or place for it. Anyway that said I get days when I post but some times I don’t because I am busy as others are.

I often visit just to read anything of interest not necessarily to get involved. I know after six years the members who lighten everyone’s spirits. Of course there are members who have sadly gone and others who we don’t hear from anymore.

It’s like a coffee morning you can join in current topics of conversation or not it’s just nice to be apart of it.

dragonfly46 Mon 22-Aug-22 10:09:49

I agree with the above posters. The gentleman from Brackley and the lady from Kintyre do deserve a mention. They started the gentlest threads on GN.

dragonfly46 Mon 22-Aug-22 10:11:20

I would also like to mention the lady who started the Lockdown thread as it was a great support to me when I was shielding.

Jaxjacky Mon 22-Aug-22 10:26:52

A very kind lady, part of her name is a fruit, who was extremely supportive when our granddaughter had a seizure. I’ll never forget her kindness and informative help.

Millie22 Mon 22-Aug-22 10:30:55

Yesss!!

Thank goodness for Mick and soop

Callistemon21 Mon 22-Aug-22 10:52:51

What a lovely thread ?

Yes, I agree with the posts on here about Mick, soop and others and thanks to all who bring joy and cheer to other posters and support when they are troubled.

glammanana Mon 22-Aug-22 10:53:42

Sago Thank you for such a kind & thougtful post I have made such lovely virtual friends since I first joined GN on that first day it started many years ago and supported me with hand holding when I suddenly lost my darling OH I would have been lost with out you all.xx

AGAA4 Mon 22-Aug-22 10:56:18

I always read Mick's early morning post. Starts the day off well.
There are a lot of kind people on GN. They don't want to upset others and always have an encouraging word for those that need it.

So a big Thank You to those people. Too many to mention by name even if it was allowed.

dustyangel Mon 22-Aug-22 10:58:54

A lovely thread, as well as Mick and soop I’d like to add two in particular who’ve pm’d me in times of trouble, I hope you know who you are.

I’d also like to add FannyCornforth for her positivity.

mrshat Mon 22-Aug-22 11:00:04

Agree with all of the above. Lovely thread Sago. Thank you to you all flowers

TillyTrotter Mon 22-Aug-22 11:00:28

All of the above get a vote from me,
and the proud gran of one little girl who welcomed me to her daily GN Maths Class thread over 2 years ago.
The class had a lot of fun!

Also the grans who start all the GN games threads as they are particularly friendly and welcoming to newcomers too.

TillyTrotter Mon 22-Aug-22 11:08:52

Clue: she is a red haired pocket rocket, loves shopping and writes a great Novella. ??‍?

Streaky Mon 22-Aug-22 12:24:04

Another shout out for the lovely gentleman from Brackley.

Lucca Mon 22-Aug-22 12:48:37
