Officially grumpy old women?

Oh yes, the ‘breastfeeding in the pool’.

Silly woman. Surely would be preferable to get out and feed baby on the poolside or changing room?

But no, everyone look at me, how amazing am I (and my baby of course).

It made big headlines a couple of years ago when the breastfeeding brigade were out because a woman had been asked not to breastfeed in the swimming pool. Not the changing rooms or the surrounding area but in the actual pool. Most people thought this was wrong. Why should other swimmers have to put up with it, not hygienic for the baby, why can't she organise a feed before entering the pool, and just generally not acceptable etc. etc. I have to agree, it is once again all about people doing what they want, when they want, without consideration for others.

I`m a grumpy old woman when I see perfectly fit young men climb on my wall to reach another wall surrounding the next door estate, rather than walk round, thereby dislodging top bits of my wall.

I hate seeing people feed their dogs from the table in cafes and restaurants. I saw one woman get out a little pot and spoon feed the dog on her lap!

I think I'm a grumpy old woman when driven off the pavement into the road by rude/entitled mobility scooter riders!

It happens fairly often I feel - though not as often as when I did more in-person shopping.

I really do get fed up with bikes on pavements too if they constantly expect you to jump aside.

We went shopping yesterday in a well known supermarket beginning with T and a small toddler in the middle area of the shopping trolley with his blanket and on his knee was a dog resembling a shitzu on his lap

I’m a fully paid-up grumpy old bag, but I don’t mind dogs anywhere, and actively prefer a pub that welcomes them.

Children on scooters, bashing into you in the supermarket, are however another matter. ?

I have a school nearby with many young boys and girls whose parents would not approve of their mixing or smoking etc. They used to gather in the gaps between the houses (which I had no objection to) but leave a lot of litter. If you spoke to them about being on your property you got a mouthful of abuse.

However once I got prominent cctv cameras and a warning notice they quickly went elsewhere. No doubt they dont wish to be on camera in case the evidence is sent to the school and their parents get to find out.

Well, irresponsible dog owners are a breed apart! Nothing new, they have always been around.

It seems that there is a huge sense of entitlement amongst a lot of people, adults and children alike.
That is the core of the problem. It's all about ME and what I want. If I want to do that then I can, and I will. It's normal behaviour to be utterly selfish and have no respect for others. I think we are from a different world, where people were taught to be polite and have consideration for others.

It seems that there is a huge sense of entitlement amongst a lot of people, adults and children alike. There's no respect for property or personal space either. Challenge 'the entitled individuals' at your peril; you either get a mouth full of abuse. or worse still, physically attacked.
I don't like random dogs jumping at me and voiced my concern some time ago when a dog on an extending lead - another pet hate of mine - jumped up me with very dirty paws almost knocking me over and soiling my clothes. I asked the owner to control the dog and retract the lead to which she replied "shut your f******g mouth, its a support dog and I can do what I f*****g like"!
As I said, challenge at your peril.

Seems to be more inconsiderate behaviour these days.
I don't remember dogs in shops and restaurants years ago or children allowed to ride their bikes and scooters anywhere they wanted.
Were we brought up to be more thoughtful of others or am I just getting to be a grump.

How on earth can that’s be allowed?
Talking of supermarkets, I really hate to see small (and not always that small) children sitting in the main part of a trolley.
Virtually every supermarket has a variety of different child seat configuration so there’s no excuse for a child, with dirtying shoes from outside, to be sitting where people put food.

I have mentioned it to staff on occasion and the answer is always that they ‘don’t want to upset people’

It seems they will have to put signs up everywhere because people have no respect or common sense. No dogs, no scooters, no bicycles, what else I wonder?

The only way to do it is to have RULES and then the staff will not feel bad about asking people to leave. It's like the incident of a woman breast feeding in the swimming pool. Just have a rule 'no eating or drinking in the pool area' then no-one can argue back.

It seems that rules are the only way to stop these selfish inconsiderate people from annoying everyone else.

Same here. Only got a couple of Simply food stores.

Was on holiday last week in North Wales where the store there has moved into a swanky new building. Well laid out and a pleasure to shop in. The only downside was in the cafe. To order it was a self serve touch screen offering. Goodness me is there no end to services going this way. Not impressed.

We only have a small M&S food and I don't like dogs in unless they are guide dogs. They sniff at you and lick and who knows what they do on the shelves ,the poor assistants seem too intimidated to ask them to leave.
The worst incident that I encountered last week, taking GD into a country cafe for a well-earned snack. We were pushed out of the way by 4 women bikers with their bikes to the counter.
Luckily GD piped up "Why have they got their dirty bikes in here gran there are stands outside." They shame-faced about turned and the owner gave GD a big grin of thanks.
