Good morning from the NE where we have heavy rain at present.
Quiet day yesterday, I watched a TV series and sat in the garden for a little while, temperature was pleasant.
Hospital rang and asked me to collect prep for colonoscopy, apparently the postal service is poor at present and some people have not received their prep. Timing is good because SIL is coming to take me shopping and I also need to collect a prescription.
Today is DS and DIL'S wedding anniversary, they are on holiday in Wales and it is results day for GD1. Keeping my fingers crossed for her grades.
Have a good day all.

Good morning all from the Black country very dull no sun struggling to break through here NannyJan.
Yesterday we went to the Black country beats exhibition at the Wolverhampton art gallery, it made for an interesting few hours. Since our last visit there pre covid they've built a lovely cafe with delicious carrot cake.
Really enjoying your photos BlueSapphire keep them coming.
Disappointing your family didn't visit Ash hope they recover quickly. Safe travels to you both.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating and virtual hugs where needed. Enjoy your Wednesday and may you all find some ?.

Good morning Mick and all, from another wet day in Glasgow.
What a great facility you have access to, Mick, here we have to wait for an appointment by letter and it can be any one of six hospitals. I hope you are successful.

We had a very successful day yesterday at the garden centres.
However, we were soaked to the skin at the first one, which is more of a nursery, than garden centre!
DH had a slight mishap.
One of the very helpful staff (and dog, who had become my pal) escorted us to where the plants, I was seeking were.
Unfortunately there were so many different colours, I couldn't choose!
One of the ones I liked was at the back of a display, so I went for help. Unfortunately, DH decided to do his own thing (as usual ?) and climbed up onto the raised area to get it. I heard a loud crash, he had lost his footing and landed in amongst the plants, knocking them all over the place.
One of the staff came to help, telling us not to worry. She told us to come with us, because she had a secret stash of them, which had just been potted.
We ended up with four, as we couldn't make up our mind.

Then came the choosing of the pots. They were half price, but because it was the end of the season, we had difficulty finding a matching four.
We did in the end, but my heart was in my mouth, as DH insisted he would juggle the pots about, to reach the ones we wanted. I think its a pride thing.
I knew the plants had 25% off, but the assistant took 25% off everything, because I had a loyalty card. (*Kalu*, ask about one, before you pay).
This meant I got a further 25% off the half price pots!
I was really chuffed!
The torrential rain stopped, as we got back to the car !

Nest stop was the garden centre on the road to Seamill.
I always come away with something from here. Eagle eyed MD spotted an area, where all the perennials were reduced to £1, ?
That seductive price tag drew me towards them! I was lost!
Eleven plants and £10 later ( I got a discount!), I was well pleased!
We had been looking for a very large tub for the agapanthus, which we dug up from DD'S garden, but the cost was running into hundreds of pounds, which I could neither justify, nor consider buying.
There was a large, turquoise, irredescent, one, I had been lusting after all year, sitting forlornly, among the pots.
I was telling the assistant that every time I came to visit, I had to look at it and it would be perfect for the agapanthus.
She went away and came back with the owner, who offered it a half price, and said she would dispense with the delivery charge. (We are 25 miles away from the centre).
DH looked at me and said to buy it, life is too short and we don't know what is ahead of us.
I realised then, how concerned he is about me. ? He has become very indulging, recently.
Later, the assistant told us, as we were leaving, a lady, who had also been lusting after the pot, came in to buy it and was horrified to see it had been sold.

A lovely, light lunch in their restaurant (which I didn't know existed) and then on to Largs for a very slow stroll! DH knew I was struggling, when I declined to look in the shops! ?

You all seem so busy, so enjoy your activities. I have a hairdresser's appointment, I need to keep my hair shorter now, because of my hands. Hopefully my favourite one is back from long term sick leave and we can have a good gossip!
Phoning the surgery is also on my list, they were taking emergency calls only yesterday. (AGAIN!) It used to be one of the best in the area, but has gone downhill badly.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

P.S., NanKate, I bought a silk and cashmere scarf in the garden centre, reduced from £80 to £10! Are you envious?

Grandmabatty Wed 24-Aug-22 08:12:02

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and dreich.
My quiet day yesterday ended up being noisy. Dd and the boys arrived after nursery. Dgs1 wanted to see me. It was the usual nonsense of trains, hiding under a throw, being a dinosaur etc. The baby beamed as he crawled, trying to get into everything. I had a nap after they left and slept for an hour! My neighbour across the road's house was emptied yesterday and it was such a shame to see her furniture being broken up. She is in a home. I'm sure a charity shop could have taken it. I suppose it means a new neighbour is imminent.
Today I'll visit mum then my friend. Tonight I'm going to a catch up of colleagues. We are all retired teachers so the chat won't stop! One of my friend's is hosting and I haven't seen her for a while so I'm looking forward to it. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a grey S Hampshire where a very fine drizzle is falling.
I’m really enjoying your holiday snaps BlueSapphire thank you.
After the Tesco delivery debacle last Friday I’ve received £25 in e vouchers, it all helps. We went for a short river walk last night, lots of ducks and a white egret which is not usual in that spot, an efficient fisher.
Some housework today then we’re taking my daughter and the grandchildren out for dinner.
Looks like you may get storms early tomorrow gMattie ?
Have your best day all ??

NanKate Wed 24-Aug-22 08:23:34

Morning Mick and All.

Not half Mary just £10 for a silk scarf ?. I had coffee yesterday with a very smart 97 year old. I dressed up as she always comments when I make an effort. I wore a lovely light blue jacket from Eastex with embroidery on the front. I knew she would ask where I had bought it and I had the pleasure of saying I had bought it from a charity shop in a sale for £1.75 ?

Kitty you must be on your knees with all your grandchildren minding. You deserve a large glass of wine tonight.

D H has just invited me out to coffee ☕️☕️?

Good morning all from a soggy Glasgow. Too unpleasant to have my kick start espresso outside I have retreated to my sanctuary/she shed with at least, a feeling of being in the garden.

I dropped DH off for his first physio app. at our medical centre yesterday and made an app. for myself to see our GP as my hip injury isn’t mending well at all. We made a rare pair tottering in with walking sticks, both smirking as we caught sight of ourselves reflected in the glass entrance doors. Changed days indeed. ?. It’s all go for DH as today it’s a visit to our lovely dentist for him.

Whatever the day brings, I hope it’s a good day for all and a better day for those with worries whatever they may be.

PollyDolly Wed 24-Aug-22 08:28:03

Good morning everyone from a cloudy East Midlands. There's a strong SW breeze which normally means rain at some point in the day.
I have two appointments at the hospital today, fortunately they are within a short time frame although they had been originally booked by the clerical teams consecutively; that's not happening, can't be in two places at once. Managed to get one changed and still only have to make the one journey though.
Have a good day everyone and take care in all that you do.

Chrissielou Wed 24-Aug-22 08:29:38

It's bright and sunny in Oxfordshire but with some cloud. I am off work for a few days, which is very welcome. I will dog walk and do some gardening, dog has vaccinations and check up later too. Need to make apple cake too as we have a huge apple tree close by which is laden this year. Another batch of tomato sauce is needed too.
Tomorrow is DD1's final chemo, its been 8 very long months of gruelling treatment. It is her youngest daughter's birthday today too, so expect she was up early.
Kittylester I hope your DD is coping with the new regime, how strange that a few of us went through this dreadful time together. thanks for your support my virtual friends.

Urmstongran Wed 24-Aug-22 08:35:01

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s warm but not sunny (yet). I slept well probably because when the gardens opened yesterday and no one was in, I swam continuously for half an hour in the big pool. It was lovely, swimming outdoors, in the soft morning sunshine with the noisy little green parakeets flying high overhead in formation. When I got out, I wrapped myself in a big towel and sat at the garden bar for a café con leche while I dried off in the sun.

I said to my daughter on the phone it’s (almost) like being in a spa hotel. I’m going to do it regularly for these last three weeks. Not Wednesdays though ha! I’ve only just had my hair done and the garden bar doesn’t open till 1pm on Wednesdays.

Himself took himself off into Arroyo de la Miel yesterday. He rang me to say there was a fridge in an electrical shop that would be an ideal replacement for the one we have. I didn’t even know he was sourcing a replacement! I said ‘buy it’. ‘You sure you don’t want to see it?’. ‘Not fussed really just ask if they’ll dispose of the old one’. It’s being delivered at noon today. How’s that for service? and I haven’t had to do a thing.
#lazygran

Rangers play tonight so Himself will be with his holiday pals. I’m off out at 8pm going to a Chinese restaurant with a neighbour who flew out on her own from Birmingham for a cheeky week. I’m not a big fan of Chinese, she is - it was her suggestion. I like her company though so I’m happy to accompany her!

I thought the WiFi was a bit hit & miss out here lately but Himself has just read in the paper that Apple has been doing some kind of upgrade of their software these last few days. My iPad seems fine this morning. (Ha! Hence my long wittering post this morning bet you’ve zoned out!) He has a newer model & it’s still struggling. Happy Days!

You lucky besom with your bargains Marydoll ?. I haven’t done too badly either buying 4 pairs of different coloured trainers, greatly reduced, online. ? Yes, we have a loyalty card for said nursery, always guaranteed to find what I am looking for there.

dragonfly46 Wed 24-Aug-22 08:43:11

Good morning from a breeze Leicestershire.

Getting ready for DS’s family at the weekend - changing beds. Then lunch with friends.

I hope we do have rain Polly although we have had very little recently.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 24-Aug-22 08:44:41

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. Like Pittcity I woke glowing (sweaty). It was a sticky night.

I’ve loved reading all your posts and there are too many to mention individually. But enjoy your day of travelling, visiting family, meeting friends and visiting garden centres. Enjoy lovely lunches and coffees along the way?

Thinking of our friends supporting DDs through difficult times??

This morning I’m going to do my yoga recording and as I’ll be warmed up I’ll go to the gym for an hour. No childcare until Friday so I’m going to make the most of some free time. I’ll cook a nice hunters chicken for tea and spend some time faffing hoping to create something worthy of masterchef mmm we’ll see.

Enjoy your day everyone. Love to you all?

ShazzaKanazza Wed 24-Aug-22 08:45:43

Hoping all hospital appointments go well. X

GrannySomerset Wed 24-Aug-22 09:00:06

What a lot of activity and all before 9.00 am. Am envious of Marydoll’s many bargains and impressed with her determination. Such persistence in the face of unhelpful help!

We have a local boat trip booked this afternoon and suspect we may need oilskins, given the state of the sky. Sod’s Law. Likely to be the only washout of the summer, but the pleasure of being with such a nice group will be tremendous.

Marydoll Wed 24-Aug-22 09:00:08

Grammaretto, once the pots are done, I will share!

Anniebach Wed 24-Aug-22 09:38:29

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

luluaugust Wed 24-Aug-22 09:51:26

Good morning all from a cloudy/sunny W Kent hot already.
Off to meet friend at cafe we used to go to before the lockdown, I wonder how much a slice of cake will cost now.
Chrissielou best wishes to your DD for tomorrow and good wishes to all.

Blossoming Wed 24-Aug-22 09:53:45

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s raining in my corner of Lancashire, currently 17°C. I made sure I took my bedtime meds last night and slept much better.

I didn’t do much yesterday, usual physio, cycled for 45 minutes, Gaelic practice and listened to my audiobook. I’m currently listening to ‘Heretics and Believers’ by Peter Marshall. It’s a history of the English reformation, what scary times they were.

Mr. B has gone to do the usual weekly shop and I plan to do some laundry this morning. He usually brings some goodies back from the bakery for afternoon tea, so I shall have to cycle twice as hard!

Hello Feelingmyag55, have a wonderful evening. We are also slowly catching up with people we haven’t seen for a couple of years.

Well done on another successful shop Marydoll, I hope you’re having a rest today.

Mr. B has returned with the shopping, so I must go and help put it away. I will finish reading all your posts later.

Have the best day possible all ???

Mapleleaf Wed 24-Aug-22 09:54:05

Good morning all,

It’s a bit grey this morning, but the sun s trying to show itself every so often, so perhaps it will manage to break through.

? for Kitty and Chrissielou. Such a worrying time for you and your families.

Marydoll you are certainly the queen of the bargains. Well done, you must have been very pleased.

Today, I’m at the surgery later to part with some blood. I’m fasting, so I hope my rumbly tum doesn’t deafen the nurse! ?

After that, home for some breakfast then not altogether sure, but it might be a trip to a garden centre for some plants as DH extended one of the borders yesterday. Not sure what to get, though, but DH has a fancy for a small, white scented rose, if we can find such a thing (might be too early in the season, plus it has to be one that doesn’t grow big, as it’s for the front of the border, which is not large - suggestions appreciated ?).

Good luck with the appointment mick.

Lovely photos BlueSapphire. So pleased that you are having a super time - what lovely memories you’ll be bringing home.

Take care, everyone.

Nannagarra Wed 24-Aug-22 09:54:48

Good morning from rainy Sefton.
DGD and I will go swimming soon. No doubt we’ll visit the bakery afterwards.
Thinking of you all. Whatever your plans, have a wonderful Wednesday.

Good morning Mick and everyone. Our ship is currently gliding up the east coast of Denmark in pleasant warm weather and will dock at Skagen around lunchtime. Yesterday was fascinating as we transited the Kiel Canal. We attracted a lot of attention from the landlubbers as one of the larger vessels to come through and a cruise ship. Mostly they are too big. We only hold about 500 maximum but on this trip there are only around 140 of us.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.
