Hola Mick and all who follow from Andalusia ? where we had an earthquake yesterday! ? I did notice but as we’ve had workmen digging up the road outside mi Casa thought it was their pneumatic drill ?‍♀️

Off to our local market with a friend this morning and will stop for coffee at another friend’s bar on the way back before reading on the terrace this afternoon ?

Sorry to read of DDs poor health kitty ?treatment is successful x

Lovely cruise photos and hearing tales of travels near and far - hope all go smoothly and weather is clement ?

BlueBalou Wed 24-Aug-22 06:04:04

Good morning Mick and everyone, it’s a dry start here and no signs of rain for the next couple of weeks ☹️
I hope you have a success arranging the hospital appointment and that all’s well.
Big sort out today, DH is going away to help DD, I have carpets being fitted next week and I need to empty the bedrooms of as much as possible by moving stuff downstairs. I will be knackered by the weekend!
Take care everyone x

Good morning, all, from an overcast Torbay.

A similar task here, BlueBalou as we have our decorator coming in while we’re in France to rectify damp issues in the second bedroom. This is entirely the fault of the builders next door who exposed my internal wall to the elements but refuse to compensate me, blaming my lifestyle for the mould. Really? After seven years without damp issues? I am too old to fight this via small claims, especially with my current heart issues. At least I know my decorator will do a first class job.

After clearing the room and packing, we shall set off for Portsmouth, then by Ferry to Ouistreham tomorrow. My DS and DGS3 didn’t visit yesterday as the child was ill with suspected tonsillitis. Disappointing all round. I hope he is well enough to travel home to Staffs today.

Happy hump day! ?????

Good morning from a grey, Sahara-dry E Kent.
Had a better night last night, but was tucked in bed by 2130, and asleep soon after. Woke up around 0400.
The lunch was a great success, the “girls” were here for over 3 hours. We only had cold roast chicken, salad and bread with “Elton tidy” as the (home made) meringues were intact and cream was added according to taste. I did enjoy myself, but it wore me out. Curiously, the most popular item was my homemade mayonnaise.
Later, I had a call from one of DH’s old school friends. It is really heartwarming how they stay in touch with me, as we barely know each other.
Today, I’ve got a day’s sewing with my lovely WI federation group. It’s a 30 minute drive from here, but I really enjoy their company and haven’t seen them for nearly a year, with one thing or another.
Hope the poorly feel better and cope with what life throws at them, and that every has a gentle day. Carpe diem. ???❤️?

ginny Wed 24-Aug-22 06:32:59

Good morning all.
I am planning to spend the day making 10 fabric glass cases. I also need to re hem some trousers and the do some ‘homework ‘ for my drawing course.
The time will fly by.
Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from a misty morning somewhere off the north coast of Spain. It is a sea day today en route from Bilbao to Coruna; the sea days are my favourite, time to relax or do as much or little as you want. Shall do a mile around the decks, then settle down somewhere with my book.

A good excursion yesterday to see the sights of Bilbao, and a short visit to see the wonderful modernistic Guggenheim Museum. Not enough time to do a proper tout, just time for a coffee and to admire its amazing architecture. Wish I'd booked the museum tour instead.

Then after lunch (a very good fish curry) I spent the afternoon enjoying the sunshine, my book, and a chilled glass of rose.

Have a pleasant Wednesday everyone.

The wonderful Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.

BlueSapphire Wed 24-Aug-22 06:51:05

Pictures didn't post!

grandMattie Wed 24-Aug-22 06:52:55

Stunning architecture, Blue! The Spanish are very brave to commission such innovative buildings, aren’t they?

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a grey but dry South Yorkshire. Promises to brighten though. Hope you manage to arrange a suitable appointment, Mick. A very sleepless night for me, so I’m not going to second guess what will happen today. Not a lot I suspect. I had a very jolly afternoon yesterday with two of my nieces, the daughter of one of them and her baby. Four generations. A phone call from son and DiL in the evening, and then from DD and her menfolk who have been doing ridiculously energetic things in the sea for the past two days. GS is now hooked on kayaking apparently?!
Have the best day you can folks!

Good morning all. Mild here in the north of Scotland.
I haven’t posted for some weeks but have been reading all your news, some sad, some challenging and much to inspire me.
I have been far too isolated the last two years but am very pleased to be out and about again. Tonight I have the excitement of seeing friends for the first time in over two years. I have had my haircut and bought a new outfit. Not like me at all!
Sitting outside having my first coffee of the day.
Thank you Mick for this thread and all the lovely folk it brings together.

Good morning all from Melbourne again. Yet another dank, dark, wet and cold day here. The last of our new grass was laid fortunately just before the rain began. It will not need to be watered in. After almost 12 months it is wonderful to have the garden makeover completed.

Best wishes to all, particularly those struggling with health or other issues, wherever you are.

Off now to make some golden syrup dumplings for dinner.

Good morning Mick, morning all. It’s another damp one in South Lanarkshire.

Up early today as DH woke me with his crashing about, he doesn’t do anything quietly. He’s very much a morning person and I’m definitely not.

A day of admin and cupboard clearing ahead which will be broken up by a dog walk. DH does the morning and evening so the afternoon walk is down to me although I’m really only recently getting back to it. Good to have to get out, whatever the weather and DH usually comes too, he’s still being a bit protective.

Wonderful building Blue.

Enjoy your stitching gM and ginny.

I may go to my knitting/crochet group this evening, I’d only just joined before my illness then it was off for the summer so I haven’t bedded in yet.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Beechnut Wed 24-Aug-22 07:20:19

Going morning everyone from an overcast Severnside.

I mowed my lawn and cut dead stems yesterday so that’s my green bin filled for the next collection. Today I’ve some indoor work, changing the bed and tidying the other room for guests on the weekend and sorting out some craft items.

It’s lovely to for you to share your cruise photos Blue. I like buildings.
Have a good day all ??

GrannyGravy13 Wed 24-Aug-22 07:24:22

Morning Mick and all

It’s overcast here in S E Essex, still warm and sticky.

We have the 14yr old and early 13yr old GSs today until Friday, they have requested that we all go to the local Indian Restaurant tonight (yippee no cooking for me #lazygran) . Tomorrow we may go to the Crazy Golf Centre or cinema.

Sending (((hugs))) ?‍♀️??‍♀️?

Gala Wed 24-Aug-22 07:25:16

Good morning from a wet Sefton.

Lovely lunch with friends yesterday in family run Italian restaurant which is becoming one of our favourites.

A small food shop & then the library this morning. Then a s-l-o-w rest of the day. Oops forgot the pile of ironing. Life may be too short to stuff a mushroom but I have to iron.

Take care. Have the best day.

NannyJan53 Wed 24-Aug-22 07:27:30

Good morning from a grey and dull Black Country, where the sun is struggling to appear.

Back home now. MrJ has his DD staying as I was supposed to be away until Friday evening. She is currently finishing off her Phd.

I have an appointment at Audiology this morning for a tube change on hearing aids. It is near Merry Hill shopping centre, so I will pop in there. It would be rude not to? smile
Unlike Mums Audiology Dept in Wolverhampton, they have no appointments until next year!

Enjoy your day everyone

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 24-Aug-22 07:27:30

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Having been in Oxford yesterday for a lovely lunch with six Gransnet-ers, I am back in Oxford today! My car is being serviced so I’ll drop it off and do various things. I may go to the Pre-Raphaelite exhibition at the Ashmolean or sit in a cafe and drink coffee. I could pop into the Apple shop and ask why my iPad is so slow charging. It probably needs a new battery. Our fuse box keeps tripping so I think OH will spend the day searching for an electrician. Sadly the guy we used to use died suddenly last year.

BigBertha1 Wed 24-Aug-22 07:32:47

Good morning from East Cheshire where it is pouring with rain. I shall be settled in the hairdressers all morning and then leading a small Walking Netball group later. Have a good day everyone.

Pittcity Wed 24-Aug-22 07:36:44

Good morning from an overcast Colchester. 19° and humid already. I had a broken night waking up sweaty. 27° is today's high.
Wednesday morning coffee meetup in the city centre and a quiet afternoon as I have an empty.
Love to all ? x

kittylester Wed 24-Aug-22 07:44:53

Good morning all from a muggy North Leicestershire.

Entertaining 3 dgc today before they go home. First though, I have a Teams planning meeting for our next Carer's course.

Have the best day possible!

SunshineSally Wed 24-Aug-22 07:48:15

Good morning all from an overcast south Hants ?

DDog has his vaccinations today - must make sure they write it all down PROPERLY on his vaccinations card this time! We want to try him out in some doggy daycare places with the aim of eventually going on holiday - it’s been 7 years since we went abroad so we’re sorely overdue! But need to ensure that ? is happy with his holiday too!

Also need to do a food shop for DH’s parents and check in on them. MiL has gone down health wise in the last few months sadly. She’s quite low in spirits too - depressed but doesn’t want another pill to add to the 18 she takes on a daily basis.

Had a wasted trip to IKEA yesterday - the unit we wanted to buy wasn’t on display and they just wanted us to buy it without viewing it! ? (I was a definite GrumpySally yesterday!)

Haven’t caught up with your posts yet - am a bit behind today (DH would say I am ‘all behind’ no doubt lol ?).

Have the best day you can everyone. Thinking of those going through difficult times and hoping that things get easier for you.

Hugs and ? x

Morning Mick, morning All. Grey cloud over our corner of Somerset. Some rain spots on the window.

Our friend was moved to a different hospital yesterday, can only hope for a less fraught time for her and her daughter. Managed some preparatory work for tomorrows Zoom training for a new volunteer position. It’s all very paper intensive at the moment. Med review with a surgery pharmacist was positive, some good advice and a couple of tweaks. Blood test to come.

Routine day ahead. Grocery delivery, some ironing and dust removal. May manage a walk later if the skies clear. I enjoy our routine Wednesdays, predictability suits me.

Your lunch sounds to have been excellent grandmattie. There seems to be a lot of food around on here, it’s got me wondering about lunch out - again. Maybe not, the waistbands are getting snug. Enjoy meeting your friends feeling, a good day ahead. Afternoon naps are good greyd for you and anyone else with interrupted sleep. Good luck making your appointment mick, hope the system works for you.

Take care everyone. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Gingster Wed 24-Aug-22 07:52:51

Good morning all from a greyish Suffolk coast. Still very warm and no rain. This morning I was woken early by about 20 seagulls squawking on our summerhouse roof. One of them had dropped a fish and they were fighting over it. What a racket!

Yesterday I went to see Fishermans Friend 11. Lovely film.

Today we will help our neighbour put up our new gazebo in her garden. It’s her 80th birthday party on Saturday and it will be useful in case it rains (some hope) ? or in case the sun is too hot. The gazebo is no good in our garden as it’s too open and windy. Hers is smaller and more sheltered. I’m glad it’s going to be used.

Tonight is book club in a local pub which will be fun, although the book was ???. I have to choose the next months offering. Any ideas for a goodun?

GG - I went to the crazy golf place in Southend. Thinks it’s called ‘Caddys ‘. It s quirky and you can get food and drink there. It’s also directly opposite the cinema. Youve probably heard of it.

Blue you are certainly enjoying your cruise. You’ve been to some interesting places. Sea days are good too. Plenty to do if you want to or just watch the sea and relax . Lovely!

My db who stayed with us for the weekend has arrived home with laryngitis! He was fine and chatty when he left us. He’s tested negative ?.

I do hope everyone’s day is pleasant, stress free and enjoyable. ?
