My dh looks a bit like Martin Shaw ( judge John Deed, The Professionals etc )

When much younger I used to get told I looked like Twiggy (I’ve plonked a few pounds on since then) in the 70’s some of my friends used to say my lovely late dad resembled John Thaw in his Sweeney days. We also had a neighbour who was the spitting image of Bella Emberg.

One of our DDs has often been mistaken for Natalie Portman.

My DH used to get mistaken for Ian Rush (liverpool footballer).

HousePlantQueen Tue 02-May-23 15:02:07

My late Father looked like Jimmy Greaves the footballer, when he was in his forties.

My pupils used to call me, Anne Robinson.
We did look alike. The only difference was that I was scarier.😉

Myfriend was a dead ringer for Barbara Streisand. We were youth hostelling in Oban, of all places, where we were pursued by Japanese tourists, wanting her autograph.

My SiL looks like Keeley Hawes - beautiful cheek bones and skin. There used to be pictures all over Boots of Keely Hawes and every time I saw them I did a double-take.

Years ago, there was a huge billboard poster of Peter Sutcliffe the Yorkshire Ripper near where I worked in Coventry, and so many folk commented how much my husband (now ex) looked like him.
To me, my son-in-law is the image of Taron Egerton who played Elton John in the recent biopic. No-one else agrees.
My twin sister and I both used to be compared to Denise Welch, and mistaken for each other too of course!

|Someone in my family IS famous but I guess I had better not say on here.

When she had fairly well advanced dementia and was in a care home, my mother used to think that Noel Edmonds (on the care home TV) was my brother! (In the room!)
When I told him, he was horrified to think he looked anything like him!
(He did, just a bit, though.)

People say I look just like Anneka Rice - but no, - she looks like me, as I'm older!

rubysong Mon 01-May-23 22:27:19

I was referred to as 'Delia Smith' in the past by my DH's workmates. A few years ago, when I was (briefly) blonde, I saw a photo of Grayson Perry. Oh dear, it was me!

Lady Diana looked very like me ~ but I was the one with short legs and dark hair. I could never understand why she was considered a beauty.

RINGO grin

AreWeThereYet Mon 01-May-23 19:47:05

...said I looked like the actress Frances de la Tour

Sadly me too 😰 Although as I get older I'm beginning to think I look more like a horse 😂

Aldom Mon 01-May-23 19:46:54

My brother looked very like Ring Star and was often asked to sign autographs. grin

As a much younger lady I was told on more than one occasion that I looked liked Lady Diane, i really don’t but put it down to a similar hair cut and colour, and also living in the north (when I was raised in the Home Counties) I think they thought I sounded posh…I’m truly not.

bytheway Mon 01-May-23 19:42:25

My son looks like Jon Richardson (comedian) and my b-I-l like Michael McIntyre. Neither is particularly funny though 😜

overthehill Mon 01-May-23 19:18:47

As a child I apparently looked like the child star Hayley Mills. A few people remarked on this, so guess I must have.
Hubs looked liked Alan Davies in earlier years then developed into Harold Shipman.....oh dear!

As a teenager with long dark hair, I was told more than once that I resembled Julie Felix, a folk/protest singer who regularly appeared on The Frost Report.

A photo taken during Charades, Christmas, 2021 for comparison.

When young was told I looked like Julie Andrews.

Got any clones, Kandinsky?

Juggernaut Mon 01-May-23 18:36:08

Our DS is the image of Tom Burke (Cormoran Strike) and DDiL (married to above son) is very like Kelly Brook!
DS doesn't have the cleft lip scar that Tom has though, and DS is a lot taller than Tom.
My DM was a dead ringer for a young Bette Davis, and in later life was a double for June Whitfield.
I, sadly, am the image of my DF, and he could have passed as Captain Birdseye. My beard's not quite as lush as his, but I'm getting there! Now, where did I put that epilator?

aggie Mon 01-May-23 18:24:35

I was supposed to look like Margaret O’ Brian as a child , we are the same age , and are no longer alike !
She was in several children’s films and I was taken to them al , and had to have my hair in plaits like her

Galaxy Mon 01-May-23 18:15:02

My dad when younger looked like Bob Monkhouse, he always took it as a personal insult.

PamQS Mon 01-May-23 17:36:57

People are always telling me I look like, and sound like, Jo Brand, as if I should be pleased about it! No disrespect to Jo, obviously, but I’m not convinced it’s meant as a compliment!

My son was the spitting image of Ross Kemp when they were both younger. He often got stopped by people who thought it was him. I was told I looked like Judy Dench but I think that was mainly down to the very short grey hair.
