Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight here in brackley but its dry this morning.
Yesterday, I had another letter from the NHS, as regards appointment, anyway sorted as its a phone conversation and they call me for a chat etc.
Today , my usual trip on the bus to Bicester , I prefer to go early pay a one way fare ,as it gives me 2 hours to be more relaxed , instead of rushing around in a hour .
Take Care,
Mick

Just popped back to say thank you for the beautiful garden photos Marydoll
You have had too much on your plate Still learning but well done.
I woke up with a streaming cold, the first in years. I have taken a covid test but it's negative. I am resting anyway while the family are in the city.

Mapleleaf Thu 25-Aug-22 11:49:21

Just come back to read the posts properly. I love your new pot, Marydoll. Such a pretty colour. Your agapanthus look lovely in it.
I’ve not had any luck with my agapanthus that I bought last year - all I’ve got again are a mass of leaves. Healthy looking leaves, but no blooms. I’ll give them another season in their pots, then re-evaluate. I’m very disappointed in the lack of flowering, though. I suspect duds.

Morning everyone, it’s been raining here for a few hours, quite heavy so maybe I’ll have a green lawn again. Nothing much today other than book club this afternoon where we will discuss last months book The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penney. Quite enjoyed it but it ended abruptly and left a few loose ends. Looking forward to the US Open next week, I really enjoy tennis. Have the best day you can, look after one another.

Auntieflo Thu 25-Aug-22 10:49:15

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. Rain!, we have had rain, hooray. The water butts will be full and the garden thankful for a soaking.
Harrigran, such a tease with mention of all your delicious eating goodies. Our GD texted me last night and promptly began torturing me with all things delicious from the IOM where they are on holiday. Also she added pictures of our GGS enjoying the beach and his grandad's boat.
We have nothing planned for today, but should go shopping to fill our empty freezer. Yesterday the Window Doc should have come to look at the failed double glazing. But, he phoned to say that he had forgotten that he had promised his wife that he would move the horse box! Anyway, no rush, just so long as he does remember to fit us in.
Had a phone conversation with the oncology pharmacist yesterday morning , all is well, then my infusion in the afternoon. I was driven by a volunteer driver and due to road closures and diversions, it was a bit of a mystery tour.
Glad I did a big wash yesterday, all got dried beautifully in the sun and smells so nice.
Love the pictures of your garden Marydoll , but have a restful day and don't overdo things.
Sending gentle healing thoughts to all who are struggling at the moment.
Have a good day one and all.

Aggie, we (the royal we), dug up the Agapanthus from my daughter's garden at her new home.
The garden had been sadly neglected, but the plant had about a dozen stems!

Good to see you posting, Megs.

Megs36 Thu 25-Aug-22 10:22:05

Where has my post gone. Seems to have disappeared.

aggie Thu 25-Aug-22 10:17:40

I love your pot of Agapanthus Marydoll I planted mine out into the raised bed and they sulked ! Just 3 flowering out of 6

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cloudy in my corner of Lancashire, currently 16°C. Glad you got your appointment sorted Mick.

Another day of housework, physio, cycling and Gaelic lessons for me. The sky is clearing so may spend a little time in the garden.

Lovely to see people enjoying holidays, safe journey to all our travellers and virtual hugs to all our poorly or sad grans. So many of you cope graciously with heavy burdens.

Have the best day possible all ???

Feelingmyage55 Thu 25-Aug-22 10:03:59

Good morning from a sunny north of Scotland. I had a lovely time with friends last night. Lots of laughs.
All the photos of gardens and holidays are wonderful.
Best wishes to those caring and with cares.

Megs36 Thu 25-Aug-22 10:02:02

Good morning all, at last steady rain here, not sure for how long, Good luck Harri with preparation and procedure. I was expecting appointment re colonoscopy as result of previous test at GP. Turned out letter arrived confirming a PHONE call appointment, how can that be !
Now told don’t need procedure, CT scan instead At least stress has died down atm although problem not gone away.
Take care everyone with cares and troubles, hope your GP calls more successful Mary

Good morning from Malaga - where I’ve tried to post for days without success.
Just want to wish those with poorly daughters my best wishes for better news following their gruelling treatment.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

luluaugust Thu 25-Aug-22 09:24:12

Good morning all from a very wet W Kent. Spectacular lightning at 4 o'clock! Off to art group and a chat, have it in mind to try out my bottles of ink this morning.
Good wishes to all

Grannyme6 Thu 25-Aug-22 09:23:39

Good morning all.
We’ve had a good amount of rain overnight and a thunderstorm at 4 am this morning and it’s still raining now - north west Essex.
Have a good day everyone.

Greyduster Thu 25-Aug-22 08:53:18

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Maple has our weather here in South Yorkshire spot on and I am late to the party. I slept much better last night. I didn’t do a lot yesterday and I was supposed to be taking GS to buy some new walking boots today but I have something to do this morning which may wipe me out for the rest of the day, so I have postponed it. He’s fine with it. I suspect it’s not his idea of a fun afternoon out anyway!
Have the best day you can folks.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 25-Aug-22 08:52:39

Morning Mick and all

I lay listening to the thunder at 4am and then we had torrential rain which lasted all of 30 seconds, but it’s raining steadily now.

Will go to an indoor Crazy Golf venue later with the 14 and nearly 13yr old, then a quick pop to the shops to buy whatever they fancy for dinner (I do spoil them)

Lovely agapanthus Marydoll I have two pots filled with them in my garden which I shall be moving soon into one big one.

Have your best day folks ?‍♀️?

Nannagarra Thu 25-Aug-22 08:47:32

Good morning from Sefton.
Ooh, Dartmouth and Salcombe - some of my favourite places, brook2794, when we holiday in south Devon. Have a wonderful time.
Coffee and cake with friends this afternoon. I’ll also squeeze in a swim today.
Have the best day possible everyone.
???

Mapleleaf Thu 25-Aug-22 08:41:40

Good morning all,

It’s a grey start here in South Yorkshire. We had some rain last night and through the night, but it’s stopped for now.

My Pilates class shortly and then this afternoon going out for afternoon tea - a gift from SiL at Xmas which we’ve just got around to using.

Hope all goes well for your DD today, Chrissielou ?.

To all going on their travels, I wish you a safe and straightforward journey, and a lovely time when you get there.

? for those of you with troubles, worries or illness.

The book sounds good, LLFL. I’ll have to seek it out.

Your meal of lobster sounds delicious, BlueSapphire.

Take care everyone.

Sar53 Thu 25-Aug-22 08:41:36

Good morning from Essex by the sea where we have had spits and spots of rain but nothing substantial, yet.

DH is off to London this morning to meet up with some old work mates so I have the car for a change. I am going food shopping to a supermarket I don't visit very often but I feel like a change.

DD1 and family are returning from Portugal later today. They have had a lovely holiday according to all the pictures I have received. DD2 and family are off to Spain on Saturday.

I haven't caught up with everyone's news yet so I will wish you all a pleasant day xx

Pittcity Thu 25-Aug-22 08:41:15

Beechnut

?you had me smiling just then Pittcity, doing the ironing before the washing.

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Overcast here and I’ve some washing to go out. I’ll take a chance on it drying.
I’ve crafting and will probably go shopping later. I want to get some ferrules for a stool and then I’ll give it a paint spray and make a cushion for the seat.

Have a good day all and safe travels ??

It's the ironing that's accumulated from the last week's washing. It's been too hot to bother with it until today.

Rain update .....we had a shower for a minute and the sun is now shining. The downpours are just a few miles away but our corner is staying dry.

Kalu Thu 25-Aug-22 08:40:07

Thank you Stilllearning, fingers crossed for a simple solution.? It’s always lovely to have family visiting but it is exhausting. Enjoy your trip into Glasgow and lunch then….feet up and spoil yourself all weekend. Hello TopsyIrene a pleasant surprise to see you here this morning.
Best wishes for your DD kitty and Bon voyage Ash. I am envious of you popping over to France, one day, I hope to be returning to Provence.

ginny Thu 25-Aug-22 08:32:23

Good morning from a wet and rainy N. Bucks.
Last night the water company were flushing out the mains pipe. They were rather noisy and it seemed awful that there was so much water flowing out and down the road.
I’m hope the rain stop as I am off with two friends for afternoon tea on a canal boat this afternoon.
D D1 will be here soon to collect DHs car. She is borrowing it to take her Grandma ( my MIL ) away for a few days. Her car isn’t suitable as it is too low for MIL to get in and out.
Had a message from my doctors surgery re my blood tests. I’m booked for a phone appointment in September 17th to discuss further !
Nice to hear about holidays and outings .
Thoughts with all who have worries, whatever form they take. Hope everyone has a good day with something to make you smile.

Marydoll Thu 25-Aug-22 08:30:06

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where its currently 13 °C.
Thats good news about the appointment, Mick, much better than having a procedure, as you previously thought.
So nice to see you posting, Topsy.

I thought I would sleep well after an afternoon in the garden yesterday, but I have coughed all night and it hurts into the bargain!
Mr MD, never stirred all night, despite the
racket, I was making, which proves my point that he needs a hearing test! ?

My hairdresser visit was a treat. There was only me, the assistant and a plumber in the salon, who kept joining in the conversation.?
Much to my delight, my lovely hairdresser had returned from sick leave, but I got such a shock, when I saw her. She has lost so much weight, which doesn't suit her.
I was so sad to hear of her breakdown and everything which has happened to her.?
Hopefully, she is on the mend now.

After lunch, I discovered DH was missing, I found him in the garden planting my newly bought plants, knowing I wasn't up to it. ?
The garden centre owners arrived with the new pot and the compost we had ordered, (compost is difficult to get here, at the moment),
On seeing the agapanthus, awaiting its new home, she said it would cost at least £100 to buy it.
DD missed a trick there, not wanting it in her garden.
A wee bit of garden pottering today and I really should make Dollie's requested ice cream, I can't find neither the time, nor the energy to make. ?

I'm hoping to hear from my GP today. On phoning yesterday, I was fuming to get the emergencies only message, for the third time in this week.
I persisted until I got to speak to a receptionist, who advised me to phone today or Friday! ?
I politely insisted she take a message for my GP, saying that it's seven weeks since I first became unwell and I still feel awful.

I also want to give a special mention to the two DDs, I hope they are doing ok.

I'm loving all the photos on here and reading everyone's news.
I will add to the album, with a photo of my pot. The garden needs a bit of TLC, I'm finding the physical part quite challenging and the grass needs cut, but DH has broken his strimmer. That's his excuse to get out of it.
I will pre-empt that, by offering to go out and pick up a new one. ?

Kalu, thank goodness, I am staying in today, just in case we bump into each other in that dress! Enjoy your catch up.
To grannyfranny, whom I know reads this thread, thank you for your comment yesterday on another thread. ?
Harri, I hope the prep isn't too awful.

Whatever your plans, enjoy your day.

hollysteers Thu 25-Aug-22 08:29:24

Good morning Mick and all from an overcast northwest coast.
Nice lunch in the country yesterday with old friend. He hadn’t received my telephone message re change of pick up time due to restaurant availability and I thought one of us had made a mistake re the day, but he was ready as there was only half an hour in the change of plan. I felt he had aged somewhat since our last meeting, quite naturally as we have long gaps between meetings, but he was as cheerful as ever and practically has to be pushed out of the car when the time comes to call it a day. I took him a box of chocolates for his recent birthday but he couldn’t remember getting my card.
More singing today and I have my outfit ready, a nice close fitting black and white dress. Will have a vocal warm up and get my props, music stand etc organised.
Don’t know the venue so will put the sat nag on for help.
Thoughts to Chrissielou and Bon voyage Ashcombe

aggie Thu 25-Aug-22 08:28:41

Good morning everyone from a sunny Co Armagh, no rain in the night so the butts are running down
I have the rainwater from the greenhouse roof to water the tomatoes and cucumbers , it’s great to have a water supply so far from the tap , but it might be time to lug it from the tap , just when my Son is going to do the watering when I’m away .
Mind you that’s over a week away and we could have a deluge yet !
