Good Morning Everyone,
Its twilight here in brackley but its dry this morning.
Yesterday, I had another letter from the NHS, as regards appointment, anyway sorted as its a phone conversation and they call me for a chat etc.
Today , my usual trip on the bus to Bicester , I prefer to go early pay a one way fare ,as it gives me 2 hours to be more relaxed , instead of rushing around in a hour .
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning
Bucketing down here in the Channel Isles. Nice though to have watched and listened during the night to a bit of stormy weather. I wasn’t disturbed much just vaguely recall moving thee curtains to see.
Enjoy the coming day everyone.

Good morning!
A rather boring day ahead after usual DDog walk, carrying on emptying out the bedrooms- I think most stuff will have to come downstairs so I am doing it in stages. I know it’s a week until the carpets come but DH is away and I need to pace myself.
I didn’t sleep well last night, so hoping I might catch a nap later, that’ll be a first!
Have a lovely day everyone x

Ashcombe Thu 25-Aug-22 06:32:01

Good morning from a rather wet one in Portsmouth!

After a busy journey we booked into Travelodge and, after relaxing for an hour or so, headed for the attached pub, only to be told it stopped serving food at 8.00 pm due to staff shortages!! It used to be open until 10.00pm. We consoled ourselves with crisps and a bottle of Spanish Chardonnay from the bar at £5.00 per bottle!!

Our ferry leaves at 8.15pm so I think, once on board, we shall indulge in the full English breakfast before heading for our cabin.

Wishing you all a happy day, whatever you’ve planned. ?????

Jaxjacky Thu 25-Aug-22 06:47:50

Morning all from a wet S Hants, not far from Ashcombe, safe journey to you both. This is the first proper rain for about seven weeks, it was such a surprise waking up to it, hope grandMattie has some too.
Lovely meal out last night with my daughter and the grandchildren, we sat outside with a particularly persistent wasp.
Voluntary phone day today, so a bit restricted, but I have phone calls to make.
Enjoy your day, thoughts with those struggling ??

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 25-Aug-22 06:55:51

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’ve just woken up and there’s a spider the size of a dinner plate on the wall opposite my bed. I’ll have to keep an eye on it. It is our book group this afternoon. We all read the same book this time - ‘The Light We Cannot See’ (or very close to that title). A Second World War book, which was very moving. It won a Pullizer Prize. We have an electrician coming today to look at why the fuse box keeps tripping.

Good morning from a heavy skied E Kent. It is supposed to be raining ?. Ha!
Hope you and olddudders got the ferry and are about to enjoy your full English, Ash. Bon voyage.
Very hot last night after a day topping 30C. I find it too much and am grumpy all the time.
Had quite an enjoyable day with my WI friends - as it’s a federation group, the attendees are from lots of different parts of E Kent. We are making a padded needle case - practice for box making. I’ve done it before and, although fun, I really, really don’t need more stuff. I’m of the school “if it’s unnecessary and just adds to clutter, forget it”. I don’t need another picture, table runner or cushion, thank you. But I do enjoy the company of the ladies.
I’ll visit my nursing home friend today. She’s declined so much that I won stay more than 30 minutes. I think she enjoys my visits but as she spends the whole time whinging about one thing or another, I find the visits more and more trying.
Enjoy your holidays/cruises/travels; hope the unwell are coping ok, and everyone is in a good place.
Carpe diem my dear friends. Love well and lots… ???❤️??

Good morning from an overcast NE, it looks as if it may have rained overnight but I did not hear anything.
Busy day yesterday, had to collect prep from endoscopy unit and collect prescription from the pharmacy. Bought some olive bread and truffle brie for lunch and had them with salad.
I was expecting a delivery between 2 and 3pm and it arrived promptly.
I thought I would buy some premium bonds online, I do it for GD every birthday, what a fiasco. I could nor get into my account and had to spend the rest of the afternoon on the phone listening to an automated voice telling me how busy they were. Did eventually get sorted but meant it was very late when SIL and I went to do the Sainsbury shop. Bought some wine as the 25% reduction was still on.
We had wild garlic chicken Kyiv with new potatoes, carrots and
courgette Provencal for dinner with a nice glass of red.
We retired to the sofa with a cafetiere of decent coffee and some macarons and watched a film on Netflix.
DD is travelling to the UK today and should be in the NE by 2pm, it is her DH's birthday on Monday and she will get to spend time with him.
Have a good day.

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. I don't think the forecast overnight thunderstorms happened but the sky is darkening now and we may get some much needed rain today. It feels cooler which is great as I haven't stopped sweating for ages.
I'll save the washing for tomorrow and get on with the ironing and other housework this morning.
DH and DS will be home this afternoon with their laundry and want feeding. Pasta bake with all the bits and pieces from the fridge is on the menu.
Love to all ? x

Good morning everyone from a little coastal village called Beesands in south Devon. It’s a bit grey just now but a warm sunny day is forecast. I hope that everyone needing the rain gets some today, I don’t mind getting wet either ☔️
We had a good walk here yesterday along the coastline from Salcombe, we got the little ferry across the estuary and then walked about 11 miles. It was quite hot and sunny so a quite tiring. We were in bed by 9.30 hence waking up early this morning! Today we’re continuing the walk as far as Dartmouth and hopefully find a good cafe for lunch somewhere
I love your cruise pictures BlueSapphire and seeing your progress
So very kind of you to continue visiting your nursing home friend gMattie can’t be easy
Safe travels Ashcombe ?? That wine was a bargain!
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Good morning all from a cloudy and cool North Leicestershire.

I am going to do an actual Sainsbury's shop today - hope the credit card can cope!! DH is volunteer driving today so I will have an empty when I get back.

Have the best day possible all.

BlueSapphire Thu 25-Aug-22 07:19:13

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny ? La Coruna on the northwest coast of Spain. We have just tied up alongside, and I have already been for my breakfast as I am off on a tour in half an hour.

It was a sea day yesterday, which I really enjoyed, spent most of it reading, inside in the morning as it was damp and grey, but out on the sundeck after lunch when the weather cleared. A formal night last night, so the gladrags were on, and I enjoyed lobster for dinner!

Have a lovely Wednesday everyone.

dragonfly46 Thu 25-Aug-22 07:19:48

Good morning from overcast Leicestershire.

Optician first thing then NWR lunch near the local monastery.

Have a good journey Ashcombe and enjoy breakfast.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

A view of La Coruna taken from my balcony, sorry about the crane! And sailing in earlier this morning.

Beechnut Thu 25-Aug-22 07:25:29

?you had me smiling just then Pittcity, doing the ironing before the washing.

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Overcast here and I’ve some washing to go out. I’ll take a chance on it drying.
I’ve crafting and will probably go shopping later. I want to get some ferrules for a stool and then I’ll give it a paint spray and make a cushion for the seat.

Have a good day all and safe travels ??

Grammaretto Thu 25-Aug-22 07:25:32

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. 11° here - dry and cool. We (my NZ family who are staying) are going to a play at the Fringe today.
Plenty of rain here but the refuse collectors are on strike so I hope we don't see rats.
I'm glad you have your appointmentMick
I hope you get something to eat Ash and a safe voyage.
DGD receives her GCSE results today.
Luckily she is assured a place at 6th form college. She had a tough time and was quite lonely when school was online through the pandemic.
Hoping everyone has a good day.

cornergran Thu 25-Aug-22 07:39:24

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset.

Rained for most of the day yesterday, the fine stuff that soaked into the garden and also soaked into us. Slept badly, a shame as I have Zoom training to get my head around this evening.

Not sure how the day will shape up, neither of us are full of energy or a positive spirit. One of ours will also receive her GCSE results today grammaretto, fortunately also assured a place at 6th form the nerves were twanging in her yesterday.

Safe trip ash, hope the visit isn’t too difficult grandmattie and Thursday is kind to us all.

TopsyIrene06 Thu 25-Aug-22 07:40:04

Harrigran. Oh my goodness, there you go again. You make my mouth water (in a good way) and encourage me to post on this early thread.

Sunny and cool here in the South side of Glasgow with no sign of rain on the weather app. Hopefully my footwear has dried out from yesterday morning.

Urmstongran Thu 25-Aug-22 07:42:31

Here’s Matt.

Another beautiful start to the day here in Malaga. ?
Good morning everyone. The little green parakeets are busy already, squawking and flying in their bomber formations. Seen a few swifts too while I’m drinking my tea on the balcony- doing their amazing acrobatics.

I’m off down for my half hour swim in 90 minutes when the gardens open and then my café con leche at the garden bar while I dry off in the sun in a fetching beach towel.

No plans for today. I think we will eat in. Might as well make it an AF (alcohol free) day as I’ve not had many of those (perhaps only two) this month. It’s too easy out here to enjoy some!

I shall continue listening to The Great Gatsby today. The actor reading the novel adds to the pleasure as his voices for the protagonists are a delight! I’ve read your BC read LLFL a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I’d highly recommend ‘The Nightingale’ by Kristen Hannah. I couldn’t put it down when I read it. I think it was you Gingster yesterday who asked for book recommendations?

PollyDolly Thu 25-Aug-22 07:47:14

Good morning from an overcast East Midlands. No breeze this morning and everywhere is damp from last evenings steady rainfall; we just managed to get home from the hospital and in the house before the rain started.
I am planning to do some crafting today, find it very therapeutic and productive of course. Making a batch of bolognese later to use up the glut of tomatoes but I need to wait for the beef mince steak to defrost first, so I think it will be pressure cooker rather than slow cooker this time.
Safe travels to those venturing on journeys, good luck to those GC waiting on exam results, thinking of all those who are unwell or under the weather - stay positive.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Gingster Thu 25-Aug-22 07:51:23

Good morning all from a lovely sunny Suffolk coast. Where are the rain and thunder storms that we were promised? Nothing!

Book club was enjoyable last evening. Mixed views on the book but a lot of chat about other things too. We had a new lady join who seems very nice.

Nothing planned for today - we’ll see what the weather does.

Three GC expecting their GCSE results today. It’s also gd’s 16th birthday so I hope her expectations are realised, and she has a happy day. Good luck to all those who have worked hard . It hasn’t been easy for them with lockdown.

Wishing you all a good day.?

SunshineSally Thu 25-Aug-22 07:54:21

Good morning everyone from a very wet south Hants ?

So lovely to see that the lawn is green in most places. So hot last night that I couldn’t sleep, so am feeling a bit hungover this morning - I swear no alcohol has passed my lips!).

Loft man is coming this morning to finish putting in the loft ladder - no more having DH leaving his telescopic ladder leaning up against the wall! ??

Also, the plumber is coming today to finish plumbing in the dishwasher after moving the washing machine to the utility room - and the heavy rain has tested the roof of said utility room and there are NO leaks (wahoo) - so the second fix by the tradesmen who did the recent renovation work may have finally worked!! Thank goodness for that.

Just given DDog his worming tablet wrapped in cheese - oh my goodness, so much easier than trying to force one down the cats’ throat and rubbing its throat, only to have it spit the pill out the side of its mouth whilst sinking its claws in your arms!! ?

An easy day today for me I think - some admin work and maybe get the hoover out.

Have the best day you can.
Hugs and ? to all x

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° with brilliant blue skies. So nice. A touch of autumn is in the air. Nice to see you posting TopsyIrene. I agree wholeheartedly with you about Harrigran's tasty post!
Yesterday I visited mum and she was ok. My friend was away so I didn't see her. At night I went to a colleague catch up and we had a good blether about old times.
Today I'm babysitting dgs2 for a few hours in the morning. That'll be nice to spend time with him. Then it'll be tidying up and Spanish. Cajun chicken pasta for dinner. Have a good day all.

hulahoop Thu 25-Aug-22 07:55:41
