I don’t read the articles but see the headlines, the poor couple must be seriously damaged by the constant attention and criticism they are receiving.

I’m not a fan but enough is enough surely!

Mean? It's a beautiful ballet, my favourite.

She looks amazing and those green earrings are wonderful.

Dare I say, she looks ambitious.

I shall pretend not to know what's up with the cover as well.

What's that meant to mean?

Anniebach Mon 29-Aug-22 17:39:56

The interviewer was ‘looking into her soul ‘ ?

Summerlove Mon 29-Aug-22 18:03:11

I think the cover is lovely. I've not yet read the interview.

As far as regretting it, I can only imagine that people have thought Megan Thee Stallion was also the Duchess of Sussex.

It’s the word ….. I agree it’s unfortunate. Would be for anyone.

I still don’t get what’s wrong. Obviously people don’t want to post it here. Can someone send me a message telling me?

It’s driving me mad?

I know I'm out of step with so many people here, but can someone explain to me why M should regret this cover, or why its unfortunate?

She looks mean and scary. Cruella de Ville.

She has such a lovely smile in RL, it's just not her.

Callistemon21 Mon 29-Aug-22 21:10:48

I like the picture on the left. They've persuaded her to look mean, sorry.

annsixty Mon 29-Aug-22 21:19:26

I agree, she looks very mean and scary, not a good or positive look in my opinion.
She can look so much more attractive and approachable.

Callistemon21 Mon 29-Aug-22 21:37:56

"Meghan, can you scrape your hair back and glare at the camera, darling, that's right, mean, scary, show them how you can scare them all".........

Sorry but I really don't think that's her at all.

Love it! She looks fierce and great.

Which of course leads to the topic of the entire episode, how women are treated when they are ambitious. And the worst offenders? Other women.

This. Absolutely this.

I am not a fan of Meghan Markle. IMHO, she is not a nice person. She started a smear campaign against the Royal Family and will tell all sorts of lies to tarnish their reputation.
So very glad that my mixed race daughter is not like her.

imaround Mon 29-Aug-22 22:29:47

I think she looks like a woman with ambition, staring out at the world in a way that dares detractors to say something.

It is very fitting since she is doing publicity for her podcast that discusses labels of women. Especially since her first podcast is about women with ambition.

I would kill for those earrings TBH.

I’ve sent a few PMs on my interpretation of the magazine cover thing…

It’s not a woman’s job to look attractive and approachable

She looks ok to me, good bone structure. Maybe she just didn’t feel like a soppy camera smile ?

Apparently Meghan has given an interview stating it ‘…takes a lot to forgive…’

I’m afraid that for me it doesn’t come across well but I can’t put my finger on why.
I think she’s disingenuous.

You left out the, "The duchess responded: "I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive." Do you not think that you might make you look disingenuous too?

When Meghan releases an interview carefully timed to coincide with the twenty-fifth anniversary of her mother-in-law's death, she can scarcely complain about the attention and criticism they receive.

It's the constant attention that is the problem.

Criticism for what she says is one thing, but it seems that not one single day goes by without the tabloids publishing yet another article about her. If there's a lull in her activities, old stories are rehashed and dredged up again and again.

Just the other day, Amanda Platell of the DM was feeling sorry for poor Harry who it appears has been emasculated by the "minor actress" and wanted to know what the men who served alongside him in Afghanistan would think about his presumed subservient role.

Seriously, this is just muck-raking isn't it?

I know damned all about the couple's relationship, but this idea that Harry is some kind of poor sop who's been entranced by a Jezebel and therefore has no agency nor autonomy is pure speculative spite. Their public persona, brand, image, call it whatever is not necessarily the true dynamic between the couple.

Are M&H really so newsworthy - that important to the lives of the average citizen? Does the Queen even agonise as much as the media over her grandson? Everyone wants to defend the poor woman who's been so ill-used - perhaps at her grand age she's more philosophical, heaving another sigh of resignation as she turns yet another page of the tabloids to find yet another article about the couple.

I'm not defending the couple, I don't admire them, I'm not that interested in their role as celebrities furthering their causes - but I am interested in why the media just won't simply give it a rest, as they say.

I can only assume it's click-bait. It increases the circulation figures which will attract more advertising revenue. And so it will continue. Until the tabloids can find another person / persons / issue that engenders more interest.

But I'm pretty sure the response to this comment - if any at all - will be the usual, "well, she brought it upon herself". Well, yes - she did... but for how much longer are we going to focus on this? Perhaps ignoring the couple altogether might be an option and would certainly solve the problem of her much talked about "attention seeking".
