I don’t read the articles but see the headlines, the poor couple must be seriously damaged by the constant attention and criticism they are receiving.

I’m not a fan but enough is enough surely!

The (non) incident of the fire in Archie’s room seems to me like a storm in a teacup.
Why it has only just surfaced now 2 years later is just for publicity once again and for the podcast which was bound to be popular listening.
Attention seeker par excellence.

Chewbacca Fri 26-Aug-22 16:59:37

a new French documentary claims.

Oh, in that case, it's just got to be true! grin

Chestnut Fri 26-Aug-22 17:09:30

About the fire:
Meghan has stated that following the fire in Archie's room they were expected to leave their baby son and attend an event which they bravely did out of a sense of royal duty.
As Lexisgranny says, there was no fire and Archie wasn't even in the room at the time. Another instance of Meghan telling lies!

Was Lexisgranny there then?

MerylStreep Fri 26-Aug-22 17:11:40

Serena Williams said that she couldn’t believe they’ve never spoken about the fire I don’t think Meghan was expecting that little quip. Whoops.

Chestnut Fri 26-Aug-22 17:17:47

Lexisgranny

Apparently Australian news station said staff at the residence confirmed there was no fire, but a little smoke from a heater that was dealt with quickly.

It has been confirmed by staff at the residence that there was no fire! Why does Meghan start lying about things that never happened 2 years ago? She's not a very good liar because she keeps being found out!

Chestnut Fri 26-Aug-22 17:18:47

Sorry, that was in reply to volver.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 26-Aug-22 17:20:25

The fire occurred on the Sussex’s tour of South Africa, not Australia.

So we believe the Australian news station but not the French documentary.

Come on, own up. You're Liz Truss, aren't you ?

Lexisgranny Fri 26-Aug-22 17:37:47

Sorry it was indeed South Africa

silverlining48 Fri 26-Aug-22 18:09:51

Genuinely, where does this all come from.?
I am not a particular supporter of the royal family but there seems to be constant tittle tattle about what these two in particular say/do.
If it’s gossip does it matter?
If they are attention seekers then surely just ignore.

Volver, grin

Callistemon21 Fri 26-Aug-22 18:18:32

Nasty woman, coming here, marrying our Prince when Catherine had a perfectly acceptable sister that we would be glad to call a Duchess.

Parsley ???

Actually, I thought she was great.
Meghan, I mean.

Lexisgranny Fri 26-Aug-22 18:18:52

‘Volver’. Never claimed to be, what a childish remark.

volver Fri 26-Aug-22 18:22:38

I have a well developed sense of the absurd. What can I say? ??

Vintagenonna Fri 26-Aug-22 18:23:13

Some of the above makes me think the Sussexes were wise to leave the UK. There are times - as a woman of mixed race - when would like to do the same.

merlotgran Fri 26-Aug-22 18:24:42

The date for publishing Harry’s ‘tell all’ memoir has been put back again.

Is this because he’s still rubbing out spelling mistakes or somebody has seriously miscalculated the Queen’s demise.?

Lucca Fri 26-Aug-22 18:29:14

MissAdventure

I saw meghan called a two bit actress on here.
I'm not sure that was a commentary on anything much.
Then there is the fact that she touches her husbands back.
Disgraceful!

I remember the two bit actress comment, I hadn’t been on GN long and was seriously shocked

MerylStreep Fri 26-Aug-22 18:31:23

Silverlining
seriously, where does all this come from
Out of Meghans mouth. She said it on her podcast.
What I quoted, ie, Serena Williams can be heard on the podcast.

Elegran Fri 26-Aug-22 18:32:47

OK. The media should stop commenting on their pronouncements or their podcasts, or even mentioning that they have made any. However, that would mean that Netflix won't think they were getting full value for their investment in the Sussexes, and might even mean that they drop them.

Which would the Sussexes prefer, to be the subject of media attention, not all of it complimentary, and as a result have Netflix courting them and paying to have them in its stable, or to be ignored by the media and lose the income that generates?

Calendargirl Fri 26-Aug-22 18:32:58

Harry won’t have to rub out spelling mistakes, because he won’t be writing it.

Do we honestly think Meghan will let Harry loose on a tell-all memoir?

Not likely, her hand will be on the (poison) pen.

Chestnut Fri 26-Aug-22 18:36:00

Meghan's podcast was listened to by millions of people across the globe, and quickly climbed to the top position in the US, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
This was from the Times:
The Duchess of Sussex’s almost entirely preposterous new podcast Archetypes promises to “rip apart the boxes women have been placed into for generations”. On the evidence of the first episode — an interview with Serena Williams — it won’t really do this at all. The podcast is a tastefully soundtracked parade of banalities, absurdities and self-aggrandising Californian platitudes. The effect of all the tinkly music and vapid conversation is to make you feel you’ve been locked in the relaxation room of a wellness spa with an unusually self-involved yoga instructor.

I haven't heard the whole hour myself (I couldn't stand it) but the little bit I heard reminded me of giggly chats with my best friend when we were 14 years old. Trivial.

vampirequeen Fri 26-Aug-22 18:47:51

May be a bit out on the fringe here but how's about we get rid of the whole Royal Family thing when the queen dies. No more Charlie and Camilla (who were having an affair during his marriage to Diana), no more paedo Andy, no more William and Kate with their perfect marriage (although it has been said that he had an affair when she was pregnant), no more Harry and Meghan (love 'em or hate 'em we just can't stop talking about them).....in fact no more of any of them. Once they're non-royals they'll just become minor celebrities who flit in and out of the entertainment sections and women's magazines whilst the rest of us get on with our lives.

MawtheMerrier Fri 26-Aug-22 18:50:28

I'm amazed nobody has suggested this before confusedconfused

Allsorts Fri 26-Aug-22 18:59:35

I don’t know anyone that is interested. Afraid they are both very weird, why are they coming back? They don’t like it here they have said that enough, isn’t that why they went, nothings changed except their non position in their hierarchy . .I thought they were settled in America.
