Very late today Hope mammogram result is clear Sunshine Sally .Sorry you were upset Maw. I'm another who has enjoyed reading about cruises they sound good . Have a good day everyone .
Oh, that’s not so good Grammaretto. I hope the antibiotics do their job and, you can always bring a bottle of what you had to forego home with you. Slainte
Thank you Blossoming xx ?
Good morning Mick and all from a sunny northwest coast.
After resting yesterday as stricken with pain from hernia/wind etc, it’s easing now and planning to go to music club, but it’s taken it out of me, I’m still in pain when I move, but not so bad, will try a little vocal warm up but unenthusiastic that’s for sure,
My son is picking up my artwork from an exhibition whitish ending 30 miles away as near him and I’m grateful for that.
.
Some appointments to make and will read through later.
Thoughts to those with troubles.
Good morning all,
I haven’t read the posts yet, but hope you’re all ok.
It’s a brighter morning today, though the cloud is building up, so I’m sure it will end up greyer as the day wears on.
Not a lot planned for today, a wait and see kind of day. ?
Ah thankyou Kalu .
I'm still on antibiotics so can't even enjoy the wine
Bon voyage Grammaretto. As the August invasion of tourists have departed by now, it will be less hectic for you to enjoy your well earned break. Have a lovely time but not too much of sampling the local ? ? a bientôt.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Nice enough to get the washing dry for packing for France. It's a 4am start tomorrow of course it is
I'll be in your neck of the woods sago.
Heavy rain is forecast at the weekend so no need to bother with sun screen ? just a good book and a change of scenery.
I like your idea of junk room into craft room Gwenisgreat I may try to do likewise.
Better wait until the bin strike finishes.
Maw that's such a shame.
I value you all so much. My virtual friends. Always ready to listen and offer a hug or advice when life is tough
Hoping everyone has a good day.
Good morning all from an indifferent W Kent. Off to spend the day with two of the GC as DD has had to go back to work before they start school tomorrow. They don't need looking after as such but a day of board games and crosswords lies ahead, hope I'm up to it!
Oh dear Maw I also missed yesterdays bit of a do, so sorry.
I hope all the holidays carry on well, and everybody one degree under has as good a day as possible.
Don’t go, Maw, your wit and wisdom are invaluable. There are certain names which means I skip the attached posts because they are so intolerant but as usual I missed yesterday’s spat.
Supermarket the highlight of today and hopefully a chat with DGD1 who was due to land back from the US at 6.00am after nearly four months away. Oh to be young and looking forward!
Am much enjoying the cruise reports and thank you all for sharing. Suspect the cost of fuel will mean that next year nobody will be able to afford more than the odd day trip but meanwhile it is so good to hear of people exploring the world.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning all from a dull start in Glasgow.
I gave up reading thé said thread Maw which upset many people and felt angry at you being unfairly got at. Keyboard warriors at their worst.
Our gardener is coming today too but goodness knows where the pile of grass cuttings can go as thé refuse strike is still ongoing, the garden bin is already full. I have ordered yet another pair of leather trainers to mix and match with my wardrobe. They are so comfortable and as I am not heavy on shoes, these will last me for years. Have I convinced you??
Not much else planned apart from a few phone calls to make, I can fouter for most of the day.
Hoping a pleasant day is ahead for all and best wishes for a better day to those with worries clouding their day.
Hope the mammogram goes well SunshineSally
Good morning Mick and all from a grey and cool Angus by the sea.
Sorry you've been given a hard time by some GNers Maw. I think it's the anonymity which some people take advantage of to 'vent their spleen'. I wonder what they're like in 'real life'! Like you, Grandmattie, I stay well clear.
I'm sorry your wonderful cruise is drawing to it's close BlueSapphire - I've so enjoyed it with you! I shall now jump ship to the Norwegian fjords with Ekwanimity. Living life vicariously, me! (I'll be off on the train to Lincoln later in September though
)
Off down town soon for an appointment at the opticians, which will involve a visit to the coffee shop if I get drops as I won't be able to drive for a bit afterwards. After that a quiet day. Tomorrow is a visit to the skin specialist - I know how to live it up!
Take care everyone and enjoy your day x
Good morning everyone from a cloudy Co Armagh, it was wall to wall sun yesterday
We had workmen who took over my patio for their break , I put out a jug of chilled water for them , but stayed indoors with doors and windows open
My Sister is calling today , we are to go to an art exhibition this afternoon , I hope lunch is involved ?
I have finished a crochet throw for her and started another for other sister
Just discovered that yesterdays workmen have broken my Daughters hen ornaments on the grass ! I’ll have a look on line for replacements , they are very flimsy and it never occurred to me to move them , she is away just now so hope the replacements arrive before she is back !
Best wishes for a nice day for us all , and stay away from all the “discussions” on GM , let’s hope sanity returns soon !
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it's currently 14°C.
I'm glad to hear you have recovered Mick and able to get out and about.
DH and I were supposed to be going into Glasgow for lunch today, but my stomach was not good at all yesterday, so we are having a day in.
We have a number of gift vouchers to use, before they go out of date and are working our way through them.
Therefore, an alternative, exciting day is planned, cleaning the range and fridge and stripping the bed. I'm embarrassed by the state them, but just cannot find the energy to do something about it.
Also, a visit to Dollie's school is also on the cards. Ages ago, when clearing out cupboards in church, we found small, new vases, which the PP was going to throw out. I hate waste!?
The teacher in me saw various uses for them, especially for enterprise projects, so I emailed the HT, a former student of mine, and she was happy to take them.
Sending my best wishes to all, especially Harri, who have medical appointments and a warm welcome to all the newcomers.
GM have a safe journey tomorrow.
Maw, I too saw that vindictive thread and it left me very unsettled. I decided it was sensible not to post. However, I wanted to say Hello to Hazbeen, whom I know reads this thread.
I hope this gentle and welcoming thread, continues to stay a safe and gentle haven for those of us, who are struggling at the moment.
Thank you, Mick.
Have a good day, whatever your plans.
Mick a friend told me last night that La Vuelta is passing through Malaga coming down from Motril on Thursday afternoon. He plans to go and watch.
The organisers say the flow of traffic could be affected in various municipalities, as follows:
- Malaga: between 1pm and 3pm.
- Cártama: between 2pm and 4pm.
- Marbella: between 3pm and 6pm.
- Estepona: between 4pm and 8pm.
My sister & her husband plan to turn out to watch when it reaches her area over in Estepona.
Good Morning from Severnside where it is cloudy. The temperature is dropping.
I’ve spent the last three days at home so I’m skipping swimming this morning and going to a garden centre. I’ve a few bits I want to get and fancy getting a few spring bulbs to plant on my bank. Hopeful that will cheer the early spring after the gloomy winter. Like you kitty I’ve been thinking of drought resistant plants for the middle section of my garden. It’s looking a very sorry state at the moment.
Wishing you all well ??
Morning Mick and all
Warm with a few clouds here in S E Essex.
We have The Imp, who is counting sleeps till he starts pre-school on Monday. We are going to take him to a small local zoo after his morning nap.
I will now read all your news.
Have your best day folks ?♀️?
I hadn’t known you were upset on GN somehow yesterday Maw. It’s very sad when people come on to a site like this, looking for support and friendship and then are knocked back by others. Perhaps the recent threads about this will cause some posters to look at themselves and their actions and help to improve the situation
No Matt. I think the Bank Holiday might give him today ‘off’ today instead? We will know tomorrow I suppose.
Good morning everyone from Malaga where we have strange weather for the end of August. No sun, just a wash of white cloud which is locking in the heat making it muggy. Himself says he woke several times during the night, hot and bothered. I told him to blame it on the curry we had enjoyed down in Los Porches. Several diners chose to eat at tables outside. It looked nice with white tablecloths and tea lights. I was happy dining indoors under a huge ceiling fan!
We came back up & had ‘one for the road’ in our local tapas bar and the Spanish were saying ‘too hot!’ (Hace color!) and mopping their brows - at 10:30pm. Ah well, it’ll change back in a day or two to bright sunshine and fresher air I dare say.
I’m looking forward to this afternoon as LWW go ‘on tour’. I’m meeting my ladies at 2pm and we are going to stroll down to the marina for wine at Kaleido (one of my favourite bars owned by a son of Malaga, Antonio Banderas) and then for a plate meal in the lovely foodie Metro Bar. I must remember to take a fan in my handbag, as the sensible Spanish senoras do! We will of course get a taxi back up. (These hills are a bugger on the upward slopes, especially in the heat!).
Here’s a photo off the busy marina. It will be a little less busy now that the schools are back. It’ll still be popular with the locals on the weekends though for another few weeks.
Thanks to the knowledgeable posters yesterday who replied to my query about that purple-leaved plant. GN at its best!
