We still have reasonably summery temps here (outer SW London) and I have yet to dig out winter woollies (just the occasional cotton cardi so far) but I do notice how much earlier it’s getting dark now. I know it’s my imagination, but it does seem earlier than in previous years.
However yesterday I was speaking to my Swedish friend - now in Stockholm after many years in Devon, so well aware of how things could be worse! One thing she was dreading about moving back was the longer, colder winters - and the darker winter days.
When in Devon she used to recommend Swedish friends/family to visit in the spring or autumn, since that’s when they’d experience the greatest difference. I well remember her son and DiL with young children visiting during the Halloween/ Bonfire Night season, and being amazed at the still benign weather, children able to play out with no coats, etc.
