Good morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire, it’s a lovely start to the day.

Great news Harri.

Happy birthday SunshineSally

Hello momb ?

georgesgran ?

I’ve a work catch up call this afternoon but otherwise no real plans. Yesterday involved a lot of walking which was good but tiring. There was a huge delay coming home as a lorry had shed its load of hay rolls which held up the traffic for such a long time.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all from a damp and dreary looking Angus coast. Very still, and not even a breath of a breeze. Today is the 28th anniversary of DH's death in a road accident. I can no longer imagine what we would be doing if he were still alive, (he was a young and vigorous man then) so I just remember with regret for all he has missed and all that was taken from him by the action of one lorry driver.
Today I am meeting my niece for lunch and then going to the hairdresser's with possibly a wee sneaky visit to M&S on my way home - my car seems unable to drive past!
Happy Birthday Sunshine Sally and good to hear from you again momb. Very glad to hear that all went well yesterday harrigran - such a relief for you.
Have a good day everyone and may the sun break through any dark clouds of life x

My grapes!

harrigran Fri 02-Sept-22 09:08:57

Happy Birthday SunshineSally, it is my youngest GD's 13th birthday today, doesn't seem two minutes since she was a baby.
? for you Georgesgran I hope your happy happy memories help on what would have been a special day.

Good morning everyone from an overcast and damp Northampton. We seem to have a fine drizzle at the moment, but I shall have to brave it and get the bus to our M&S Food and Sainsbury's, as there are a few things I need for the weekend. Shall have a coffee ☕ while I'm there, using one of my free vouchers.

Everything is now unpacked from my cruise, put away, and washing sorted - till the next time. My lovely neighbour came over to return my keys which I had let him have while I was away (in case of emergency). His poor wife is on chemo to try and keep her cancer from spreading more, and they are trying to make the most of every day and do everything she wants, most importantly seeing people - she could have 6 months, she could have a few years, according to her consultant. They are ever hopeful, though.

The cats returned yesterday morning, and are back in their usual routine of eating and sleeping. I emailed the cattery and have booked them in for my holidays next year! Must get some anti-histamines today, as I could feel the allergy symptoms starting up again yesterday.

Managed to cut the front grass yesterday afternoon and trim the edges, and had planned to do the back today, but it will be too wet. My poor lawns look terrible, with lots of bare brown patches - just hope it grows back over winter. I was delighted to find that the grapes on my outdoor vine have turned purple and are sweet - couldn't resist trying a few lots.

Must shower and dress and get out,
Happy birthday ? Sunshine Sally!
Georgesgran flowersflowers - would have been our Golden Wedding this year too.

Have a good Friday everyone.

Good morning all from Glasgow, chilly at present but forecast to warm up later.

I decided on the spur of the moment, as my hair needs some attention and trimmed, to call my hairdresser yesterday and luckily she can fit me in at noon today. My hair grows so quickly and 2in. at least must come off. The result should make me more presentable as I have a GP appointment soon after. I do hope she has a solution as to why my fractured hip seems to be getting worse. I can’t live on co-codamol forever. ?

I too was wondering how you were fairing momb. It’s nice to see you back.
Happy Birthday SunshineSally
A bittersweet day of sad and happy memories Georgesgran?

Best wishes to all for a good day.

harrigran Fri 02-Sept-22 08:42:22

Good morning from the NE where it is dry and about 15 degrees.
Yesterday went better than I expected, the staff at the endoscopy unit were kind and efficient. My procedure was carried out by a consultant who was lovely and talked to me throughout. I watched on the monitor which helped to distract me when it was uncomfortable.
Good news is there does not appear to be a recurrence of the cancer and the pain I am experiencing could be caused by diverticulosis.
Just before I left for the hospital a letter arrived with the scan results and that was optimistic too.
DD and SIL brought cake to have with coffee and then cooked dinner, they stayed overnight, lovely to have the company.

Last decent day of weather if the forecast is correct so maybe go for a walk.
Thank you all for your concern, Gransnetters are so caring.

Georgesgran ??? - to chalk up however many years of a happy marriage in the “plus” column in the balance sheet of life is still to be celebrated . ?

monk08 Fri 02-Sept-22 08:18:54

Good morning all from the Black country, rain overnight and still very cloudy.
A quiet day today methinks need to unravel my knitting, got carried away didn't read pattern and have knitted 2 inches to much.
Happy birthday SunshineSally ?
Enjoy your Friday everyone and may you all find some ?.

Susan56 Fri 02-Sept-22 08:18:38

I hope you get some answers from the gp hollysteers?I have stomach problems too which my medication is suddenly not dealing with. It’s so restrictive and debilitating isn’t it?

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 02-Sept-22 08:17:09

Sunshinesally Happy Birthday???

MawtheMerrier Fri 02-Sept-22 08:17:07

Good morning from N Bucks where it is grey with a fine drizzle - hurray! ☔️ I don’t even mind that I forgot to bring the towels in last night before I went to bed so they’re hanging up inside to dry off. I just hope the garden appreciates this!
Funny how the weather this summer seems to have coincided with the calendar- it’s almost as if someone flicked a switch and said “Right, It’s September - bring on Autumn” . And even if we get an “Indian Summer” I still feel it’s over and I love Autumn. ?
Enough prattling, you can tell I have no idea what I am going to do today. I really ought to write things down as yesterday I had a mental list of what I needed to do today and - it’s gone!
Wishing you all relief from any aches or ills, comfort from any troubles and a pleasant day !

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 02-Sept-22 08:16:00

Good morning Mick and everyone from a dull Oxfordshire, we had a huge shower of rain yesterday afternoon, which has helped I think, my lilacs are so droopy and the garden is covered in shrivelled brown leaves from the trees.
Going to see MissOops and nephew this morning to help measure up for her curtains, might take cake, after my annual health check yesterday I’ve lost weight since last year so I can afford one. I’ve had to make an ‘appointment’ to go over as Nephew can’t cope with anyone just dropping in on them, which is a nuisance.
Hope everyone has a good day and that Harrigran is recovering from her procedure and didn’t find it too stressful.

Susan56 Fri 02-Sept-22 08:15:54

Good morning from Shropshire.

We had a lovely day with the grandchildren yesterday.Lego, drawing and making potions in the garden.Next week back to school and playgroup for them so will be the rush of the school run again.

I did an E consult at the drs this morning and was advised I need to speak to someone today?I have just phoned the surgery and a dr will call me back this morning.

Ash, thank you for the information re booking tickets.I will message my daughter and get her on the case. Her diary is busier than mine so I will fit in with her!

Happy birthday sunshinesally ?

Hope harri got on ok yesterday.

Have a good day all???

Urmstongran Fri 02-Sept-22 08:14:43

Many happy returns of the day to you SunshineSally! And great to hear from you momb as I too got to wondering about you earlier in the week when I read an article in one of the newspapers about the stresses some families had encountered hosting Ukrainian families. It made me think of you. ?

Georgesgran Fri 02-Sept-22 08:14:33

Good morning from Durham. Another fine day on the cards. It would’ve been our Golden Wedding Anniversary today - I doubt DH would’ve made any fuss, just another day to him. I’ve DGS1 here, so I’ll be too busy to dwell on ‘what if’s’. Meeting up with DD2 and her family later for a forest walk.
Have a good day. X

hollysteers Fri 02-Sept-22 08:05:04

Good morning Mick and gransnetters from a sunny northwest coast.
Off to doc to take my stomach probs further. I cancelled the Bookgroup last night sadly and hope the medication from the hospital will give some temporary relief.
Nice FaceTime with my DS in the south who wanted to come tomorrow for a few days but I’m not up to it. Spent the evening watching Beauty Queen of Hollywood, which I fancied after Shtisel (or Shitsel as I call it?), not as good.
Late Congratulations Ashcombe, many happy returns of the day sunshinesally and thoughts to all with troubles.

Gingster Fri 02-Sept-22 08:03:32

Happy birthday sunshinesally - have a great day ?

Gingster Fri 02-Sept-22 08:01:29

Good morning all and it bright here in Essex. It’s going to be another warm one with NO rain AGAIN!!!

Today I will dog walk and take little pooch for her grooming session. While she’s there , I’ll shop and stock up on stuff! The cupboards, fridge and freezer seem to be very sparse.

We’ll meet our Friday friends for a light lunch and sit out on the patio of the old pub. The landlady usually joins us as we’ve been going there for nearly 40 years, so know each other well. She’s in her late 80’s and has run the pub single handed (apart from student bar staff) since her Dh died over 40 years ago .
We wonder what will happen to the pub when she is no longer able to continue. ?.

Dd has her immunotherapy infusion today. Luckily a nurse comes to her house to do the necessary. Such a relief not having to go to the hospital. She is overdue to have a scan , to see how the treatment is doing!

Sad news of Bill Turnbull. He lived near us in Suffolk and was a great campaigner against Sizewell C. A lovely man who will be missed by many.

Wishing you all a good day ?

Urmstongran Fri 02-Sept-22 07:59:03

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s warm but not yet full on sunny. The duck egg of the sky has straie of white clouds and there’s a breeze. Maybe the clouds will scoot out of the way later?

We are meeting neighbours who are friends for dinner tonight. They mentioned doing so once our FoF (family of four) had gone home after their holiday. I can’t believe that’s 2 weeks ago already. Now that time has zipped by!

A new Spanish family have bought the apartment along our little landing, where the lady from Harrogate used to live. Some of you may remember how anxious she became during the State of Emergency Covid lockdown we endured over here for those 9 weeks. The new family live in Granada and wanted a little holiday place on the coast. They’ve had the bathroom ripped out & this week has been a trying time for them one way & another. We passed them our key and invited them to use our place during the day - they have been able to have showers, Fatima has been able to wash her hair (luxuriant, lucky her) an offer for which she was very grateful! It’s expected to be finished tomorrow all being well. Through our Spanglish we’ve been able to laugh along with them, swap ideas and exchange details. We’ve been invited to ‘mi casa’ (theirs) next time we come out on holiday. Such nice people, weren’t we lucky to hit it off so well?
