I am having a sleepless night.

I just went into my bathroom and found this beauty in my bath!!!!

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 09:03:51

Oh thank you, thank you, god (or someone) for not letting me wake up with that monstrosity on my pillow.
The thought!!!!

ExDancer
I am just about to start cleaning, I really don’t need to know that!

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 09:01:32

I'd much rather have mice, moths, millipedes, daddy long legs, a pack of wolves, even, than spiders.

silverlining48 Sat 03-Sept-22 08:57:16

I am
On nodding terms with our bathroom spider A few days ago he got stuck in the bath but we helped him out and he’s back in his home under the bath.
We have another in the living room who pops out occasionally. Expect there are others that I havnt met. I am mildly nervous but would never kill them.

ExDancer Sat 03-Sept-22 08:50:02

Drape a large towel over the side of the bath so it can climb out and run across the floor and squeeze itself into a corner.
Someone once told me there is a spider in every corner of a room - so thats 8 in a square room, not forgetting windows and more if there are alcoves and fancy bits.
(PS I'm sure they were kidding me).

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 08:41:30

I really don't think I could go somewhere with such big spiders, Aussiegran.
It would be too much for me.

I'm still all jumpy now and this will last a few days now.
Ridiculous, I know, but I can't help it.
I used to sellotape over the plugholes and so on, so I have improved a bit.

Blinko Sat 03-Sept-22 08:41:12

I am loving this thread. Sorry, Miss A, but I am. I don't like spiders either, but I think I could pee whilst one was in the bath, cos I know it couldn't get out.

Hope the cavalry arrives soon, Miss A.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 08:35:48

I know exactly what you mean.
It's been known, believe me.

Thank you all for helping me.
I do appreciate it.

I've done it!!!!
I put the bowl over it!!!!
All by myself, like a big girl!!!! grin
And I "went" while I was there.

????

Though I'm amazed you didn't accidentally 'go' when you first spotted the spider, if you know what I mean wink ?

A bit drastic, but I follow your line of thought, Husband has just left, having done a search of the house, so now I am creeping around nervously, checking everywhere.

Oldnproud, you are right, this is a terrible affliction.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 08:16:12

Right I'm going in now, with that bowl.
Just to make the area safe, for now.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 08:14:59

I think it's safe to say a spider will never be in my friends list, growstuff
Particularly one with bubbly bits, and knee joints.
No sir-ee!!!

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 08:11:16

Yep.
I'm going to have to burn the flat down, there is nothing else for it. grin

Oldnproud Sat 03-Sept-22 08:11:15

I am so glad I don't have this phobia. I'm not quite as chilled out with wriggly things, though.

Oldnproud Sat 03-Sept-22 08:09:17

MissAdventure

I have a washing up bowl, an old one, oldnproud

It's the most obvious thing, why didn't I think of that? smile

It sounds perfect, but drop it lengthways not widthways (assuming it is not round or square), so all its sides should touch the bottom of the bath. Otherwise, you will just be giving the spider a roof grin

silverlining48 Sat 03-Sept-22 08:09:13

Don’t kill the spider MissA. It’s stuck on the bath and can’t get out.
I do the tissue thing Fanny mentioned but usually use the glass over the spider sliding paper underneath and taking outside.
However is you are really scared of them you might try and wash him down the plug hole.
He might climb back up though. [shock

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 08:08:37

Oh, because my neighbour will kill it, regardless of anything I say.

Oldwoman70 Sat 03-Sept-22 08:07:53

Well there is only one answer - set fire to the house !

MissAdventure

Thanks, growstuff grin
That spider in the video looks too realistic when its prowling around.
Makes me shudder!

But they end up being best of friends! grin

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 08:00:37

I'm sure the neighbour will be up soon, as she is really unsettled and looks quite poorly due to the week she's had.
I don't think she will be able to lie in, even though she wants to.

Oldnproud Sat 03-Sept-22 07:58:54

Try to find something large and plastic to 'drop' over the top of it, then leave it till someone can help you, large so you are less likely to miss the spider, and plastic so you don't damage the bath when you drop it.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:57:23

My next door neighbour is off work sick with a bad back and resting.
The lady opposite died a few weeks back, and the woman above me works shifts as a paramedic.
That leaves just fanny fernackerpan, and a couple that I don't like in the block.
