I am having a sleepless night.

I just went into my bathroom and found this beauty in my bath!!!!

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 04:13:07

I would like to put something near it, so you can see the size, but the bathroom is out of use now, until I formulate a plan.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 04:15:11

It has eyes on stalks, or some big bobbles on them. shock

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 04:20:35

Oh and I wrote arsephobes. sad
I'm going to have to spend the rest of the night going obsessively into the bathroom to make sure it hasn't got out of the bath.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 04:30:45

Except I'm now too afraid to go in the bathroom at all.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 04:40:10

Still trying to pluck up some courage....
I am on new water tablets and I need a wee!!!

Spice101 Sat 03-Sept-22 04:58:35

Insect spray will fix it!

nanna8 Sat 03-Sept-22 05:03:43

It looks like one of ours. Perhaps someone ‘imported’ it from Oz ?

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 05:10:30

It's almost as big as the palm of my hand!

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 05:10:52

‘Morning MissA ?
It’s very unlikely that it will be able to get out of the bath.
It’s either fallen in, or went in for a drink.
I really like spiders, it’s a shame I’m not there, I’d sort him out. (We could eat some toast together too wink)
Please don’t kill him.

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 05:12:34

Get some toilet roll in a loosely folded, lightly scoop him up, and chuck the whole lot out of the window.
Can you do that?

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 05:13:41

What can I do, though?
Seriously, I don't know how to deal with it, because there is no way I can go near it.

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 05:15:35

He won’t go onto you .
They are really timid, and don’t randomly move about iykwim (unlike daddy long legs)

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 05:16:03

I can't do that, fanny.
I am petrified: it made me gag to even read "scoop him up".

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 05:17:51

Are they eyes on the ends of the stalks??

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 05:17:57

Oh no sad
I do understand. I used to be terrified of daddy long legs, not now though

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 05:18:40

No, they are part of its antenna

nanna8 Sat 03-Sept-22 05:19:59

Be careful, though. If by any remote chance it is an ‘overseas’ spider it could be poisonous. Many of ours are, you wouldn’t touch them with a ten foot pole.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 05:20:52

What does it need ruddy antenna for?
Antenna, knee joints and elbows.
Who does he think he is with all these fancy parts?

... look, just give it the house keys. And the house.

Probably the easiest way grin.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 05:24:51

Well, I threw away a lot of bananas today.

I bought them last week, or possibly the week before, but then was poorly and didn't eat them.

I had a notion to make banana bread, then realised they were beyond help tonight, so I moved them for te first time in a couple of weeks.

Could he have come from those?

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 05:25:19

Actually, no, they don’t have antenna, because they aren’t insects.
I’ve just been looking online, and they are either called pedipalps or chelicerae confused
Their eyes are definitely on their head

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 05:26:25

Not the bananas, it’s just a normal house spider, albeit a big one.
It won’t hurt you

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 05:27:53

I don't want anything with pedipalps or the other thing in my home!!!

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 05:30:05

I'm sure they always come in twos, don't they?
You find one, then find an even bigger one!
Its mating time or something..
