I am having a sleepless night.

I just went into my bathroom and found this beauty in my bath!!!!

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:52:10

It's been an eventful night, one way and another.
I went to put some rubbish out (the bamanas) and a dog went for me on my own backdoor step.
It was terrorising a cat, who was hiding on my doorstep and had pooped everywhere, and they were being watched closely by a fox, who had kindly marked his territory by scattering all runny poop around my step.

MissAdventure
You are supremely brave just remaining in your flat.
I would have been an absolute wreck by now.
Don’t you have another neighbor?

BlueBelle Sat 03-Sept-22 07:50:22

Put a wide cup or vase over it slide a piece of cardboard under it and carry it outside

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:46:40

Neighbour has said she is having a lie in today.
She was going to take 2 sleepers, as she has had a stressful week with the council doing her a new kitchen.

She has been beside herself because it has made a mess and so on, and she can't cope.

Who am I to mock, when I cant cope with a blooming spider, now I come to think of it.

Sara1954 Sat 03-Sept-22 07:44:18

I guess at least if it’s in the bath it can’t get out, nothing worse than one that disappears, not much help if you need the loo though.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:43:14

Thanks, growstuff grin
That spider in the video looks too realistic when its prowling around.
Makes me shudder!

FarNorth Sat 03-Sept-22 07:41:29

When is your neighbour likely to be up?

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:39:11

I know exactly what you mean, sara1954.
My daughter was terrified,
She would jump up and down and scream and run around the garden every time she went into my mums shed.
My grandsons are afraid of them, but a little better than me.
My mum was afraid, but learnt to deal with spiders, and I am afraid too.

FarNorth Sat 03-Sept-22 07:38:50

Perhaps your neighbour could remove it from the trap?

growstuff Sat 03-Sept-22 07:38:08

Just for you MissA:

Ah I know the kind of spider catcher you mean, grannynannywanny
I've had many, over the years.

Sara1954 Sat 03-Sept-22 07:30:45

Oh MissAdventure
I’ve just come across this, I really feel your pain, I don’t know how I would be able to live on my own at this time of year.

I really don’t know what the answer is, I can’t get anywhere near them, I’ve got those electric gadgets all over the house, rubbish!

We had one in the week, imagine me and two of my granddaughters clutching each other screaming, the youngest one thought it was a great game, and just kept running through the house screaming her little head off.

We had to drag someone, the closest person to us, in the next village, out of a Zoom meeting to deal with it.

By the way, I’m not proud of the fact that I’ve taught two generations of children to be terrified, but it’s beyond my control.

Please go and find a brave person before to deal with it.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:29:33

I'd have to throw the whole trap away, though.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:28:08

I have an electric mouse trap.
It caught and dispatched a good few mice, humanely.
I wonder if the spider would go in it if I put it in the bath.

Grannynannywanny Sat 03-Sept-22 07:24:28

Sorry I don’t think the I copied the link correctly in my previous post. Try this

Grannynannywanny Sat 03-Sept-22 07:21:24

Not much help just now but I recommend one of these for future use. I used to have one but gave it to my daughter in law who is very afraid of spiders. She’s still not keen but manages to use it if no other option. The trigger on the handle opens up the soft strands on the end which close and trap the spider to transport it outside.

I'd have to throw the jug like a frisbee, and hope it landed neatly over the spider. Urgh!!!

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:11:23

A broom is longer, so preferable, and I have one of those.

FarNorth Sat 03-Sept-22 07:11:09

Could I put a jug over it until my neighbour gets up?
That is an option but it would take all my courage.

That sounds like a good idea, if you can do it.

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:08:38

Oh, the feather duster method sounds like it could work.
I not sure if I still have one.

I may have followed the advice that if you haven't used something for years then you should get rid of it, though. blush

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 07:07:42

You’re doing really well then MissA
It sounds like exposure therapy would work for you.
I’ve got to try and get some sleep, so I’ll pop back later to see how you’ve got on.
Good luck, you’ll be fine

MissAdventure Sat 03-Sept-22 07:05:22

A lot of these methods involve getting far too close to the spider.

I simply cannot do that.

At least I manage to stay in my home now, years ago I would have literally run out into the street.

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 07:05:13

FannyCornforth

That’s a good one Maw smile

Both the joke and the method

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Sept-22 07:04:26

MawtheMerrier Sat 03-Sept-22 07:03:17

Just as well this site is not based in Germanygrin! grin
(Try a feather duster with a long handle or a soft broom, it will pick up the spider
when you press down very gently then all you have to so is shake it outside )
