Best gig/concert you have attended

Rolling Stones in Stockton in 196? I actually went to see John Leyton & Mike Sarne - they were great, but the Stones blew me away!

Adele in Auckland, New Zealand. I wasn’t really a fan at the start but that completely changed by the end of the concert!

Beatles, Stones & Billy Joel aside,
The BEST must be Frank Sinatra at Sanctuary Cove, Queensland in 1987 or 88.
Support was Whitney Houston, compere was an almost speechless Clive James.
I think I win!

The Beatles at the Odeon in Brum, wonderful. Also Bon Jovi but can’t remember if it was Milton Keynes.

I was there too Was a bit fed up as girls were screaming so loudly I couldn’t hear the music !

Queen and Fleetwood Mac. Can'tsay which was the better. Both absolutely amazing

I've been to quite a few. Among the best are Rolling Stones and the Who.

Probably the best was a free concert in Hyde Park with Pink Floyd

What year was that? I hitched all the way from Cornwall to a Pink Floyd concert in Hyde Park but slept all the way through it as I was so tired when I got there.

Justin Timberlake, the 50-50 tour and Bruno Mars in Birmingham about 4 years ago.
Both absolutely out of this world.

My first "Big" concert was to see The Beetles in the 60's. My brother and his GF took me, I was 12 or 13. My most recent concert was The Killers earlier this year.

I've seen a few acts at Wembley. Queen, Simply Red, Diana Ross, Elton John and Alice Cooper .

Seeing Mark Knopfler in Newcastle was wonderful if not the biggest venue I've ever been in it was one of the friendliest.

We saw Garth Brooks in the USA but I can't remember that name of the place as our friends booked it and drove us there . It was at a Stadium and was in either Alabama or Georgia as they lived in Birmingham AL but thought nothing of "nipping over" to Atlanta :-) It was a BIG place and packed so I think that's the biggest concert I've ever been to.

My daughter playing flute with the County Concert Band at the Festival Hall in the late 1990s - she was 17/18 then. So so proud.

Also Cliff Richard at an open air concert in Darwin, Australia, when we lived there 1990. The first time I'd seen him live, and couldn't believe he'd come to our remote city.

We could start a thread of people who didn't turn up. We went to see Tony Williams Lifeline - the support act were good (not so good that I can remember who they were!) and we were really impressed by how much care the crew took getting the speakers etc ready for the main act. They took ages - sadly Tony Williams and his lifeline never made it.

There was a Mersey Sound one that had Cilla Black, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Mersey Beats and various others. They were great at that time.

I think it was because we were young and carefree too!

The Hollies, the Swinging Blue Jeans, the Beatles as a supporting group to Tommy Roe and Chris Montez etc.
The wonderful Long John Baldry and his group (including Rod Stewart) at a small gig in Hanley.
And not so long ago Elton John on his final tour of Australia

There was a Mersey Sound one that had Cilla Black, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Mersey Beats and various others. They were great at that time.

Barbra Streisand in Madison Square Garden. Then in Dublin. Then in Berlin.

Not a gig or concert, but I recently saw Alan Cumming in ‘Burn’, his one man dance/play about Robert Burns. It was superb.

Guns 2 Roses are an excellent tribute band who I've seen three times at the Exmouth Pavilion. The first gig was worrying for them as 'the man who was Slash' was very late and they had to put together a set of songs which weren't heavily guitar based. Despite their worries they were fantastic and featured material which was super, also playing requests. The audience were on their feet.

Then Slash arrived and played a great version of the theme tune from The Godfather - it blew us away. The rest of the band went off for a well-earned rest, they came back on after the lead singer had a chat with management to continue later than the original finish time. They pulled it out of the hat, as it were, and were excellent.

I've also seen Nils Lofgren at Rock City and Whitesnake at Donington's Monsters of Rock. Both fabulous - I feel we won't see their like again.

Queens it’s a Kind of Magic at Wembley

Highlights were Beatles in 1964 in Finsbury Park, Everly Brothers backed by Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry and support.

Last night of the proms in Hyde Park where Terry Wogan introduced a great ABBA copy group before we watched the second half from the Albert Hall. A lovely warm September evening nearly 30 years ago now. Many in black tie, some ( not us) quaffing champagne. The odd chandelier....! At the end a huge sing song as we wound our way in the dark, back to the tube. A magical evening.

Pink Floyd, Knebworth 1975 and, more recently, the Eagles at Murrayfield earlier this year. Ah, those were the days…,,,,,?

I saw The Walker Brothers at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1965 ( absolutely besotted with Scott Walker!) They were the support act to Roy Orbison as was Lulu, but everyone was there for The Walker Brothers.

I also saw The Who, twice at the O2, some years ago, quite fabulous! They used to be very local to me in their early days.

The Rolling Stones were very good, saw them twice in the 60’s, but without a doubt, The Nice at Salford University about 1969. Keith Emerson was wonderful on the keyboard and was only young at the time.
My brother saw Queen at Reading University when they were first formed and said they were not very good.
