Late for you Annie I hope you are ok ?
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Thank you for the warm welcome everyone, I hope you all have a lovely day, it’s still raining here but we are not downhearted. Just going to hunt for a bucket and spade as forgot to pack them much to the disgust of GD!
More thunderstorms last night again in Oxfordshire and a murky start to the day.
Gingster I'm so sorry your DD is struggling, I know about independent DDs having one myself, hard for them to accept help when they're struggling. My DD has finished chemo, had a ct scan yesterday and awaits results. She is still very weak and exhausted, but we are relieved treatment is over. Thinking of your DD Kittylester too.
Hoping to do some gardening today, its all looking a bit bedraggled after the storm.
Hope you all find some sunshine today.
Good morning all. It's another yucky day on the Angus coast with thunderstorms promised (though they rarely materialise round here). It's very humid - a bit like living in a sauna.
We had a sunny spell yesterday so I went down the garden to feed the fish. The pond is full to overflowing - we've had lot of rain! Thought I'd have a look to see how the plum tree was doing - spent the next little while harvesting! So today will be washing them all and preparing them for the freezer. I'm not a 'jam person' so will just stone then for when I fancy a crumble. They're Victoria plums and very tasty, but it's a case for me of " more than two, run to the loo"!
I had an unsolicited phone call from the surgery yesterday! I'm still not sure why, but it seemed to be to tell me about the prescription which the Skin Specialist had ordered and that I should leave it until Friday to collect from the pharmacy and did I have enough cream to last me until then. Goodness! That's service indeed!
Glad your day out was successful Marydoll - you're very brave to drive in all that traffic!
Welcome home Grandmattie. And Hello Abitbarmy.
What a wonderful achievement Brook. Safe journey back to Inverness.
Your poor daughter Gingster - she's so brave and itt so heartbreaking for you to see her struggling through it all.
to you both.
Enjoy all your doings today everyone x
Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton. Looks a bit damp out so must have had rain overnight.
My new air-fryer arrived yesterday and spent some time re-organising the kitchen work tops to find a home for it. Tried chips in it last night, but not as crispy as usual so probably didn't cook them long enough. Any ideas would be helpful! Also the cooking drawer is very small.
Hope to join my usual walking group this afternoon, but apart from that no other plans for the day. It will be good to see everyone in the group again.
Now to go back and read everyone's doings. Have a good day everyone.
.
Good morning everyone from a very wet Co Wexford , where I am , on a Coach tour
the rain is beating down on the windows ! The coach is taking us to a museum , hope it has plenty of indoor things . I remember Museum all being indoors , now it’s all re enactment and people dressed I wierd imagined costumes
Good morning all from W Kent, huge downpour last night. Off out to sort out a few bits at the building society and collect DH's prescription, that should fill up the morning. A little more packing this afternoon. DGS5 started Grammar School yesterday and it seems to have been quite a shock, all male for a start and a bus ride as well.
Marydoll I know what you mean about letting OH do the driving, I have to make myself offer and do it even though I don't mind driving at all.
Hello Abitbarmy aren't we all!!
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
Had a lovely day out with friend yesterday .We are picking gs up from school at 11.30 today and tomorrow he has just left reception and moving up to proper school it seems daft but there it is. Ginster hope your daughter feels better soon .Marydoll sounds very busy well done for coping with all changes,we have temporally lights everywhere a lot of them 3/4 ways so queues everywhere . Have a good day everyone .
Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
Earlier start for music club today as a few of us are banding together to help run it as the organiser’s health is deteriorating.
Nice day yesterday and the recital was good, although the accompanist was not quite 100 per cent. It makes such a difference to the pieces. The bass baritone was superb.
I thought I had left my favourite reading aviator sunglasses in the theatre and missed my bus going back to look for them. No joy, but eventually found them in the loo.
I have a yen for a red trouser suit and it’s frustrating that our now restored department store only has sizes 6,8 and 10 in the trousers. The one they have is just what I want.
I’m singing some Carmen stuff today, so have the flower for my hair and an original beautifully embroidered Spanish shawl.
She’s a terrible girl and I’ve never had to do any research for her?
Thoughts to grandMattie, so many things going on for you after bereavements?
Good morning all from yet another sunny day in Glasgow. Having coffee as usual in my She-Shed listening to Beethoven. A peaceful start to the day.
I really must get out more, DH is more independent now, arranged with DD1 to drive him to his dental appointment which freed up my day and telling me to go off and enjoy a catch up with my friend in Glasgow. It did me the world of good, lots of fun and blethering. I don’t really enjoy shopping but two shops I can’t resist are Massimo Dutti and Hobbs. Delighted with my purchases, I drove home in the rush hour arriving home at 6.00pm! It took me a while to gain confidence driving again after lockdowns but I persevered knowing it would give me independence again and a bit of normality back in my life. Go for it Grey, I started with short runs to the supermarket and don’t think twice now about driving further afield. ?
A warm welcome abitbarmy, enjoy your time at the beach with your GD.
Fingers crossed for Henry to receive a positive outcome Susan ?
Best wishes to all for a hopefully good day.
Good morning from Durham. Blue skies and fluffy cloud. No car, so a day at home for me - plenty to do, including admin.
I have 2 windows to replace but bet they don’t turn up today - their after sales service needs work!
Lovely pics from DD1, as DGS1 embarks on his first day at school (actually half days at first). Where have those years gone - grateful DH was here to see the first few.
Kind thoughts for our poorly GNs and their families.
Have a good day.
Good morning all!
I have scanned quickly through the posts today first so welcome Abitbarmey love the name! I did however have to read in full Marydolls novella, you always cheer me up! Well done you for yesterday!
I got the house back to normal yesterday so today not a lot to do, think I will make a Corned Beef Hash for tea and since the oven is on I might as well bake a couple of Bacon and Egg pies that OH can take for lunch and I may spoil him with his favourite Rock Buns. Sorry Urmston not a lazygran today!
Hugs to all that need them and look after yourselves everyone.
Good morning from Essex by the sea. We also had a downpour during the night and the grass is looking slightly less brown.
I hope your daughter feels better soon Gingster x.
Coffee with a neighbour later and some admin so attend to. A walk to the Post Office and Chemist later.
Youngest DGD started school today, cute pictures from my daughter. Hopefully she will grow into her dress !!!!!
Have a lovely day everyone, much love xxx
urms a very appropriate Matt today. I am sick of hearing the D word already. Is it me or don’t they all promise that …..
Good Morning Mick and everyone from a bright Carlisle that has a distinctly autumnal feel.
I had a good journey home yesterday. It was fortunate that I'd re-booked my journey when I found my original train was changed due to the new timetable, I'd re-booked into first class which was half empty all the way while I gathered that economy class was crowded. I can no longer cope with fighting for seats and luggage space. I'm fortunate to be able to sling money at the problem.
Today I shall be doing a small shop and a lot of admin. The washing machine has already been in action and has more work ahead of it.
Hello Abitbarmy, enjoy the beach, they are beautiful in that part of the world.
And have a good day, everyone.
Here’s Matt.
I’ve slept in! ?
Mind you, we had such a long walk yesterday. ?
Good morning everyone from sunny Malaga. We did our errands in Arroyo de la Miel yesterday morning then hopped on a train to Los Boliches from where we walked up into Fuengirola. I love all the pretty fern trees there. We then enjoyed a delicious lunch in Cólon, a gastropub in the Plaza los Chinorros. After sharing a bottle of wine, people watching, we went into Dunne’s (the Irish ‘M&S’ out here) to buy new winter duvets thenstrolled all the way back to Los Boliches train station with them. My hero (Himself) insisted on being my porter.
#lazygran

Tuesday = LWW this afternoon. First I have an appointment at the salon downstairs for highlights and low lights. I fancy ‘something different’. Hmm. I hope I like what is suggested!
Enjoy Tuesday all who can. Time for my second cuppa here on my little balcony and read all your posts. The Mediterranean looks beautiful this morning, a sparkling cobalt blue in the sunshine with little sailing boats with white sails bobbing along. Picture perfect!
Good morning all from cloudy Harrogate
We have had rain overnight.
Today I have a meeting at the church to discuss coffee mornings, and this afternoon another church meeting, this time a lady’s club known imaginatively as The Tuesday Club.
Sorry your DD is having such a hard time of it gingster. Hope she hasn’t too much longer to go with it.
We’ll done Brook
Have the best day possible folks
Morning Mick and all
Like Gingster said we had thunder and heavy rain overnight here in S E Essex. It woke me up and I couldn’t get back to sleep until 5am.
I think I will go to Lakeside for a mooch round the shops on my own, and then I have to pick up The Imp from his first full day at pre-school, hopefully he will be smiling.
Hood, all goes well for your endoscopy Mick
Have a good day folks ?♀️?
I don’t mind them! I am baffled by autocorrect’s thought processes.
You’re absolutely right, Mary - I’ll let you know how I get on!?. Well done to you!??
Dampish and greyish this morning which the garden is relishing. Supermarket then a visit to an old friend who is finding life particularly hard this afternoon, so a more interesting day than usual.
Like others, I have noticed an invasion of spiders but l don’t mind the phone. Mice, on the other hand …
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. The water butt is overflowing again. Yesterday was a slow day of garden tidying and cleaning the outside of a couple of windows that the window cleaner can’t reach. They have to be tackled from the inside and it required not a little contortionism on my part! DH always did it and he had longer arms than me! Today I have to go and choose some frames for my new specs, buy a birthday card for a friend and I’ll pay a visit to M&S Food. Pitt there is talk that we shall lose our big town centre branch too. The fourth largest city in England and we won’t have an M&S - very sad if it’s true.
Welcome Abitbarmy! Aren’t we all?!
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning from a grey NE where we have had overnight rain.
Had a quiet day, did a towel wash whilst watching some TV.
Guts were sore all day, I think it is the after effects of the colonoscopy.
Spent thirty minutes in the garden tidying the patio pots, the geraniums are still flowering profusely. Tho most mess is caused by next door's palm tree which drops its leaves over my fence.
I sent a text to the plumber about the en suite toilet, two months since he said he would order a part
Check your diet sheet Mick, not sure you should be eating toasted teacake the day before endoscopy, it is usually just plain white bread.
GDs don't go back to school/college until Thursday, one has been on holiday since June and the other since first week of July. No the wonder their mum is stressed.
Have a good day all.
Good morning all from a damp Glasgow, its 16° already.
Novella alert. Early warning to scroll on by.
Mick, I hope the medication doesn't leave you feeling too awful today and monk, hopefully you will get some pain relief from your medication.
I'm pretty tired and sore this morning, but it was worth it, for I had the nicest of days in Glasgow, with lots of laughter.
However, it was not without problems. I was driving along quite happily with my music (which DH mocks) playing, when I realised I couldn't accelerate. ? My car refused to go above 30mph. Fortunately, this part of Glasgow is so congested,, that the traffic speed never reaches 30 mph, anyway.
There was no- where to stop, nor turn back, so since I was nearly there, I plodded on.
There was only one space at the Subway, a disabled one fortunately, thank goodness I had my badge,
The surrounding roads were so congested, people were double parked, parked on corners or had just abandoned their car.
I couldn't believe how much everything had changed and how busy it was.
Anyway I phoned DH, who immediately offered to come and get me. I declined his offer of help, saying I intended to meet my friend!
I suspected it was either dirty petrol or the clutch was going, but I would deal with it later.
The old MD would have panicked, so Mr MD couldn't believe how calm I was. Life is too short now to worry about things I can't change. I have the full chebang with the AA and plenty of family, who could come for me, if necessary.
Off I toddled to the Underground, to find it too had changed!
In Glasgow, you get reduced fares on the Subway with your concession card.
I asked for a return, was asked to put my card on the reader, (that's new) and given my change.I stood waiting for my ticket, the clerk looked at me, as if I was daft. You don't need a ticket, I have put it on your concession card.
As a special treat for you, I have made it an all day ticket, that way you can hop on and off as you please and save you walking. ( he must have noticed my stick) What kind man!
I replied with, Thank you, I'm not usually this doddery, but I haven't been on the Subway, since Victorian times.
The two clerks burst out laughing!
I couldn't believe how anxious I was about the whole thing!
On getting off, I realised I was wearing only one earring, a favourite amethyst pair, DH had bought me in Florence over thirty years ago. That put a damper on things. ?
The rest of my day was a delight, apart from TKMAXX, what a disappointment! Probably a sign, I have too much already! ?
A quick visit to Primark reminded me of my twenties, the styles were so similar. Everything was so colourful.
When I got back to the Underground, my not so smart card wouldn't work. The sign kept saying, Wait, seek assistance, but there was no-one to be seen and it was so busy.
Eventually, I got through the barrier, only to find at the other end, I couldn't get out, the card wouldn't work again! Yet again, there was no-one to be seen! Grrrrr!
Much to my surprise, my car drove like a dream all the way home, so hopefully it was just dirty petrol.?
Just as well, as the congestion was awful., with junctions gridlocked and there seemed to be more bus lanes, than actual lanes for cars.
So Grey, if I managed to do it, you can. I am guilty of letting DH do all the driving and sitting back, so much so that I have lost my confidence. Things must change!
I will go back and read the rest of the posts and hope your day is as pleasant today, as mine was yesterday.
P.S. I found the earring in my jewellery box, I had never put it on in the first place! #lost the plot, silly old biddy.
