As I am sitting in the South of France covered in mosquito bites, make up sliding off my face and feeling in need of another shower an hour after the last one!

It got me to thinking about my winter boots, cashmere jumpers, casseroles, sweeping leaves, peat fires, mash potatoes and long walks..

What are you looking forward to?

Let’s keep this one positive…..no mention of fuel bills please?

DH and I are looking forward to our big holiday at the end of November. We are flying to New York for 4 days, and then sailing home on the Queen Mary 2.
It's a very late early 70th birthday treat for DH, postponed twice due to the pandemic. 88 days to go now and starting to get jyst a little bit excited.

Its NOT winter. I hate it.
I suppose its another warm summer, we didn't have a heat wave up here so I was happy with what we had, so I vote for next summer.

GG at my Next, just outside Durham, the Halloween stuff is downstairs beside the door and the ?stuff upstairs, at the top of the escalator beside the bedding. Can’t get away from either!

I love Autumn and Summer has been a bit warm for me this year. Looking forward to riding without sweat dripping off me (sorry not a good look!), love walking the dog on the hills and looking at the colours, got a late holiday in Croatia to meet up with our daughter who is travelling round Europe in her campervan. However, best of all is having a cold bedroom and a bed with a duvet, cold and cosy = a good night's sleep, bliss!

Well To use Sago's own words "I reap what is sown', "or my parents sowed.
I'm an Autumn baby always loved the season, birthday, Halloween, Bonfire night and eventually Christmas.
I reap where they were born and bred and see the lakes and Pennines in all their glory from the top of the village hill in all weathers, no need to travel.
Lots of meals in front of log fires in hidden country pubs that only locals know about.
Reading a relation and his friend's poems in front of the log burner in the flickering light. Exploring all the unknown places after the crowds have gone.
Roll on Autumn. cashmere, wellies and waterproofs.smile

It's not winter yet BlueBelle. Enjoy autumn for the delights it brings. Don't ruin today by worrying about tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to the autumn. I find it much easier to dress for the autumn weather than the summer. Too much faffing and wondering what to wear in the summer. In the autumn I can just put on a pair of black trousers, a jacket and a warm top and I'm ready to go.

I’m enjoying your replies so much.

Still sitting under a French sun but now drinking a very good Cremant!

We have a weeks timeshare at Langdale in October, it’s our time to put our garden to bed and then travel north to embrace the wonderful display of Autumn colour.

As we drive toward the Langdale Estate and I see the chimneys smoking in Elterwater village and a beautiful acer in the garden of a beautiful Lakeland house my heart almost skips a beat.
It’s the perfect way to step into another season.

We will do some wonderful walks and then reward ourselves with a drink sitting outside the Britannia Inn.

I can’t be positive about a forthcoming long cold bleak winter sorry

Country walks (without getting too hot), autumn colours on the trees, snuggly jumpers, hot chocolate - love autumn

Wonderful 3dognight- love the sound of it all.

Yes the sound of the forest in autumn is very different; I love it!

Ah yes, that too.

Hearing the stags calling and even seeing them sometimes, the dogs having to wear their bells to alert the deer to their presence. The sound of autumn to me, the dogs jingling around me. The sound of the chainsaw in the forest, of splitting logs, our wood store full. (I’m in Sherwood Forest/Dukeries).

The light, as it nears the winter equinox the sun rises over the old pit top and makes a huge orange ball reflected on my wardrobe, and I will sit in bed with my cup of tea till this has happened, a lovely start to my day!

As others have said, getting my woolies out, getting the slow cooker out for stews and casseroles, getting a new pair of wellies to get through the winter, fingerless gloves, the chance to sit down and watch a box set because the weathers crap.
Not having to devote so much time to my allotment.

Georgesgran

I’m in agreement with Maw, the only downside being all the ?stuff on display in the shops. Next already have some out.

The Next I went into today had Hallowe’en bits nothing Christmas themed.

Fleurpepper Tue 06-Sept-22 17:21:05

Grrrrr should be illegal until mid November at the earliest. And the american style 'Crimb' music in shopping centres give me the heeby jeebies!

I love looking out over the fields in the morning at that low lying mist, something mystical about it.

Mollygo Tue 06-Sept-22 16:32:55

School-the excitement of teaching something to a new class. The amazing colours of leaves -though some of them have already fallen. The soup and stew season-mmm.

Nell8 Tue 06-Sept-22 16:32:54

My hayfever is stopping and I won't need to wear sunglasses against the glare.
Classes and groups are starting up after the summer break. I look forward to seeing friendly faces again.
The lovely tree surgeons can come and spruce up my tall hedges now the birds aren't nesting. The soil is damp and still warm, ideal for planting new treasures.
