What are you looking forward to this Autumn?

The colours, and that very special light, with amazing crisp views. And foraging for all sorts.

The colours of the leaves, changing colours of flowers in the garden, the soft light, walking through the leaves, woodsmoke in the air, casseroles and comfort food in general, candles in the evenings, Hallowe’en pumpkins, less to do in the garden, misty mornings, ripening apples and pears, cosy jumpers, coats and as someone else said no flesh on show!

I do enjoy the autumn, but I'm really looking forward to our Christmas week away somewhere warm and sunny, just the two of us ?

Autumn heralds winter, I don’t like the trees losing their leaves, I find it depressing, darker nights and cold damp weather. I wish through the next few months and only feel more myself when the trees start to bud and spring bulbs peep through the earth.

We went out cycling on a trail yesterday and noted how so many leaves had fallen, even saw some conkers on the ground. It was such a lovely day and I just love it. At home I look forward to lighting the wood burner, spending time doing a jigsaw puzzle laid out on the dining table, taking up dressmaking again, the spare room is all ready with my sewing stuff and some lovely cycle rides. I also like winter but by mid Feb I getting excited about spring. This winter will be a lot better for me as I won’t be worrying about my daughter having falls, not having the heating on and having a 4 hours round trip to see her and sort things out. A lot less stress

Funny isn’t it how we suddenly flip to autumn.
The last few. evenings I’ve been lighting lamps and candles, and soon it’ll be the fire, I love autumn (apart from ?) but I hate winter.
I’m looking forward to Strictly, like so many of you, snuggling up on the sofa with my granddaughter, watching her awful TV programs, hot chocolate, NT walks , bonfire night and Halloween, it’s just a cosier time of year.

It’s not unusual for them not to flower the first year.

Cinnamon buns, elderberry cordial, all those warming spices that smell and taste so good.

I am not a fan of autumn as it heralds winter. I prefer spring and summer when I can enjoy my garden. However, I am looking forward to seeing my Amarine bulbs flower. They are new this year and there is no sign of buds yet, but I hope they will be spectacular.

Soups, boots, snuggly jumpers (which hide a multitude of sins) justifying my cashmere habit (“saves on leccy”), no obligation to expose any flesh whatsoever, autumn colours and stews ?
But…..I wish we could still have lighter evenings. The days are so quickly over, the evenings are longer and when you are widowed, Winters can be very very long indeed!

An unusual one from me: I'm due to have heart surgery to repair my mitral heart valve within the next couple of months so I'm looking for ward to a new lease of life as I recover and expect to have more energy.

Autumn is total eye candy for me. Rather beautiful in general. However, it is also the last stepping stone to Winter which I totally abhor. Mmmmm..........

Watching the trees turn colour, walking through the leaves on a dry day and hearing that lovely swishy noise, wearing a jumper or tunic in thicker material which hides the waist that is not as it was, a good warming casserole, lots of candles & strictly.

I am looking forward to weather like you have Sago. An autumn holiday in the sun. A warm sea to swim in and only 3 weeks to wait. The first time we have needed a passport since summer 2018.
After that I will be looking forward to a gentle winter and then spring. Maybe Strictly too

Candles in the hearth.

I’m sure many on here will say ‘Strictly’.

The end of insect bites, leaves changing colour, the silhouettes of trees without leaves, noting next year’s buds, dampness in the air, the smell of fires and other people’s log burners, ‘winter’ meals in the slow cooker, three family birthdays.

I love the dark mornings so that when I wake up in the early hours I have some chance of getting back to sleep.

All of the above and,
Autumn smells, fresh air, walks by the sea with waves crashing, back to a cosy wood burner with a stew simmering in the slow cooker. Oh to be in England, now that autumns there! ?????

Oh heavens, I absolutely love Autumn.
The very best thing is that it’s the end of Summer.

I absolutely love wild winter weather, wind, rain and even the cold. If I had to live in either a permanently hot country or a permanently cold country I would definitely choose the latter…
