I follow a Canadian blogger - Sue Burpee / ex English teacher - online, and I found her latest post reflecting on Queen Elizabeth’s death interesting.

I enjoyed reading that, and the comments, so much so that I’ve subscribed to her blog. Thank you.

Yes, I thought the comment from the English reader - Wendy in York - was interesting.

I read the blog post. Yes it is well written and easy to read.

But where is the hyperbole and where are the sickly memes? I haven't seen any, just heartfelt tributes.

This could be due to the fact I have no telly or that I read papers that don't go in for sickly memes.

In other words, sickly memes and hyperbole are easy to avoid. Why look at/listen to such things if you don't like them? ??‍♀️

Is it just so one can complain about them and show off one's superiority?

When the Queen died I listened to a rendering of Pachelbel's Canon in D. It felt to me just then as if it reflected the stability of the dead queen and of what a constitutional monarchy is for.

The comment about people wanting her (and other royals) to embody some kind of fairy tale character is spot on. This is why poor Meghan gets it in the neck.

Kate, Sophie, Anne are fairy tale characters?
