How very strange that the President and his wife need their names on their jackets to remind themselves and tell other people who they are.
The waving and grinning was also quite odd considering the solemn occasion they are here to attend.
Am I just a crotchety old lady?

Well, very interesting to see such superficial criticisms of the US President and First Lady.
I’m still hugely relieved it isn’t Mr Trump and the current Mrs T

I do not think it is a particularly British phenomena.

Personally, I have better things to do with my time than study the minutiae of what people in the public eye wear, unless they wear something egregiously inappropriate. For example Mrs Biden turning up to the Queen's funeral in a bright pink ra-ra skirt and a top with flashing lights on it.

Are some posters just looking for something to complain about? I saw nothing wrong about them at all.
Honestly that would never has entered my head.

There will obviously be more than one image of them arriving and so there will be multiple emotions captured from one picture to the next. As such where there is a picture of them looking solemn doesn’t mean there was not also a picture of them appearing far too cheery for the occasion.

It does look like (in the first picture on this thread) they are excited for their trip. The huge smile and wave screams “aloha Hawaii!”

She looks amazing in her trainers.

Who is Brigette Macron or Jill Biden?
I wore heels for my mother's funeral got stuck in the mud and tripped nearly falling into a grave that had just been dug. An unsympathetic cousin remarked she thought I was joining in , Maybe I should have worn trainers or at least flat shoes.

Oh Yammy
I shouldn't laugh, it must have been upsetting at the time.

However, I had a vision of Miranda walking across a graveyard after a funeral .......

Having just read all the other comments, I don’t know why what annsixty said bothered most others enough to criticize her seemingly innocuous criticism of a public official. Doesn’t the first picture in this thread look a little too excited or happy to be there for the occasion? From a factual standpoint, yes it does. End of story. It’s not superficial or unkind to say that.

Callistemon21 Sun 18-Sept-22 19:33:47

I'm not criticising annsixty at all.
I hope she realises that

Just saying don't believe everything you may see on Google or in the press.

annsixty Sun 18-Sept-22 19:54:40

Well at least I tried to introduce a new subject.
Can't win 'em all.

Callistemon21 Sun 18-Sept-22 19:58:05

We shall all be agog now to see what Jill Biden is wearing tomorrow wink

Well I am glad that your attempt to be judgemental regarding the President and First Lady of the US was called out for what it actually is.

Especially because you were incorrect about the facts of the photo you made a rash judgement about.

Thankyou for your criticism imaround
You can be assured I shall take note of it and then forget it.

I think that was misunderstanding due to a lack of punctuation, MerylStreep ie a case of eats shoots and leaves!

They're ready to take off from Maryland, USA -- not landing in the UK.

They're leaving from a military field, honouring American Air Force 75th Anniversary, notes the news. Of course they're happy and waving.

USPresidents sometimes wear odd military looking jackets, with their names embroidered on, it seems.
