Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a damp start to the day. Like a great many others I shall be watching the tv broadcast of the State Funeral. I’d best have a box of tissues to hand.
An empty train has just pulled into the train station opposite heading into Manchester Oxford Road. No-one is on the station platform either. It’s very quiet here. All the shops in the square downstairs will be closed as a mark of respect.

Good Morning Monday 19th September 2022
(53 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry here in brackley this morning .
Apart from breakfasts and taking my prescriptions, a day by the TV .
Although locally some pubs are opening I would prefer to sit at home and watch the proceedings unfold .
Take Care,
Mick
Morning Mick and All.
A cold Autumnal day in South Bucks.
We have invited 4 of our lone friends round to watch the funeral and then to have a sandwich lunch and toast the new King. One of our guests is the same age as the Queen and just as bright and sparky.
What a dreadfully sad day I’m already wiping my eyes. ?
Good morning everyone. Just getting organised for a lovely long walk and picnic lunch with DH in beautiful countryside, then back in time to do some work later on (own business).
Might catch up on a few funeral highlights this evening if I have time.
Have a great day whatever you choose to do.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s another grey and cloudy day
I’ll be watching the television most of today, nothing else planned.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Beautiful Paris MawtheMerrier, I envy you!
Good morning Mick and all from an appropriately dull northwest coast.
Like many, I will watch the funeral, a truly historic event.
Forced myself out yesterday from slothdom to a nearby pretty park, had lunch in the cafe there and bought a hanging basket of pansies.
Was planning to go to a local folk club in the evening, but the tv and my new heated throw won the day.
Hope you all have a good day, whatever your plans.
Good morning all from Menorca. It is still breezy and a little overcast.
I shall watch the proceedings alone on the TV in my room. I also prefer to watch it by myself rather than on the 2 TVs in the downstairs lobby bar along with others. DH will go for a long walk.
Thank you for the link Ashcombe
Good morning all and a cats chorus woke me at 5.30 . What a racket! ??⬛.
Yesterday I went to see the musical ‘Six’. What a show! Brilliant.
I went with DIL and the two teenage gd’s, so a lovely afternoon.
Little gd decided to stay an extra night at other nanny’s/daddy’s. She will be brought back at midday and I’ll take her to see her mum in hospital this afternoon.
I will be glued to the ‘box’ but somehow feel we’ve had the funeral already, with all the different services , pageantry, and traditions over the last 10 days.
This will be a tough day for the RF in full view of the tv cameras.
RIP Queen Elizabeth II.?
Good morning from sunny Colchester where the temperature is in single figures. 17° is today's high.
Like most we will have the telly on for a lot of the day.
I nipped to Aldi for a few bits yesterday and it was like Christmas in there...manic!
DH's sister queued for 11 hours to pay her respects. We prefer comfort.
Love to all ? x
Morning all
It’s grey here in S E Essex, the sun is desperately trying to break through.
Feeling odd knowing what is ahead for the royal family, it brings back memories of how I felt kn the morning g if my dear mums funeral.
Wishing you a peaceful day wherever you,are whatever you are doing
?♀️??♀️?
Good morning from an overcast Leicestershire.
I am helping out sorting food for a food bank first thing then coming back to watch the funeral.
Have you looked at the retirement flat yet Mattie. I am sure you will sell your house quickly. My DD is looking for a house to buy and there are so few available they are snapped up instantly!
Here’s a link to the details of the service from the BBC Website:-

Thanks for explaining Ashcombe.
Good morning all from N Bucks where seems the seasons have galloped ahead in just the last few day. And it’s cold !
I had a wonderful three days with D, SIL and GS and am absolutely zorsted!
Friday would have been Paw’s 75 th birthday, so it was very thoughtful of D to choose this weekend to take me away.
The flat was off a charming courtyard barely 10 minutes walk from the Gare du Nord, but being SIL ((v artistic, a sculptor) , beautifully modernised and spacious. We walked all over, including the British Embassy where there were flowers and a queue to sign a book of condolence, (didn’t) hopped on and off the métro, did some touristy things (Eiffel Tower and bateaux mouches ) and had some lovely meals and a few
which won’t have helped the diet (what diet?) The weather was simply beautiful too.
Despite being so bushed I could not sleep well last night but have to be up and out by 8.15 to collect Rosie.
No internet at all for three days so I have a lot to catch upon as well as watching todays events . It’s odd how such significant change has happened and yet everything is still the same. The continuity of monarchy?
Wishing you all a pleasant day no doubt with your own memories and thoughts.
Good morning all from Berkshire.
Mr NAG55 has a GP appointment at 10am today, other than that we will be watch our beloved Queen come home.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Cool but dry.
I plan to test a new walk this afternoon in advance of leading a U3A walk next month.
I will probably watch some of the pageantry on TV.
Hoping everyone has a good day.
Good morning all the Black country where it rained overnight.
Like many of you I shall be watching the proceedings on TV.
The end of an era RIP your Majesty x
Thanks, Wyllow. We’re actually back in the UK for a while, after a few weeks at my DH’s home in France. Being a newbie, you wouldn’t know that we have an unusual marriage, split between two countries. My vicar calls it a semi-detached marriage!!
Good Morning all from an over-clouded S Yorks. Rain would be nice for the garden, but I hope the sun shines in London.
I'll be watching parts of the day. Her life has spanned more than mine, and somehow brings back so much, and may the day be a peaceful one, for whatever our feelings about the monarchy as an institution, truly we shall never see the likes again I believe.
Phew pantglas I haven't the stamina for that anymore.
The gym opens at 3, so there might be a gerrout then.
Good holidaying, Ashcombe.
Good morning from a distinctly chilly Bristol.
Yesterday went well, although I don’t know who cried more, DSiL or me! There were some really lovely, genuinely heartfelt words said about DD, which was lovely. Her dad would have been bursting with pride - I missed him so much. A lovely lunch was laid on for DD to be able to talk to as many people as possible.
Iris wa faffing about and “needed help” in choosing this and that to wear. I kept on going up and down to see her. The kitchen, where I was , is on the ground floor, her room on the 2nd. This is a gran Georgian terrace, there are no fewer than 28 steps per floor…. I was exhausted before the day started.
Today, I’m sewing party bags for Iris’s party at the end of the month. They are moving next Monday and the party is the following Sunday…. The children are not bothered by QE II’s funeral so shan’t be watching - I’m minding the girls while their parents are taking a well deserved day off somewhere. They are working so hard, getting everything sorted before the packers come.
Glad you had a good journey,*Ash*. Make today quiet and reflective. Carpe diem/horam. ❤️???
Good morning all from a very dark Glasgow, where its 8°C.
Nothing at all planned, apart from watching today's proceedings and catching up on a few chores.
Good morning from a still dark Kent.
DD2 and SIL arrived home safely at lunchtime yesterday.
I am staying an extra day to watch the funeral with them.
RIP your Majesty x
Good morning from Portsmouth TL where it’s dry but cloudy. No alarm clock necessary due to a bin lorry and a laundry delivery making an early start. Early TIB is fine, nevertheless!
We arrived safely late last night after an easy crossing, for which MV Mont St Michel was more than half full. It was gratifying to see flags at half mast around Ouistreham and on the ship as we boarded. Also, the observance of one minute’s silence occurred at 8.00 p.m. in honour of our late Queen.
Our travel plans today prevent watching TV but I will catch up later. Thinking about the sadness of the occasion but the wonderful example of a devoted life.? ✝️?
Good morning from Wiltshire.
I too will be watching as we experience the ending of an era.
Good morning from a very dark somerset
I too will be watching tv today, the end of an era
