Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry here in brackley this morning .
Apart from breakfasts and taking my prescriptions, a day by the TV .
Although locally some pubs are opening I would prefer to sit at home and watch the proceedings unfold .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a sunny and much warmer East Lothian where we are currently staying, visiting DD2 and family and enjoying a Scottish break.

We travelled west last weekend and went to the refurbished Burrell Collection. A knowledgable guide gave us a tour of some of the stained glass. We visited a friend in Renfrew but were disappointed not to be able to visit Paisley Abbey beforehand, as it is closed on a Monday - I didn’t think of checking.

DD & family are now ‘in the west’ visiting their favourite haunts around Largs and Isle of Cumbrae. We are feeding the cat(s): one is theirs , one is a neglected local cat who always seems to be starving, and the third a perfectly well- nourished one whose nose was put out of joint in his own household when the family acquired a dog. The cat flap here is open to all ?

We are watching the funeral at DDs as we haven’t yet fixed up a television at our flat. They have a big pull down screen and projector but, as yet no blinds on their south facing windows, so it’s handy when a cloud passes across the sun.

I have almost achieved my main aim for the weekend, which is to empty the family laundry basket! The 4th and last load will be out on the line soon.

Thoughts with Gingster’s DD, Grandmatties daughter and family, Greyduster’s nephew and little prem baby. And to all with ongoing or unshared troubles.

Hello and welcome to Wyllow.

Good morning all from Glasgow where the sun is trying to break through to a pleasantly warmer start to the day.

An earlier FaceTime catch up with DD2 in Australia, much less stressed as the wheels are in motion with her insurance company, she now has to decide whether to raze her house or raise it on stilts to avoid further flood damage.

Only plan so far is to make cock-a-leekie soup, a favourite of DD1 and her girls who will be visiting later today. Pleased to hear you enjoyed your time in Paris Maw. Beautiful architecture.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day

A later Good Morning after a restless night for me.
A few household chore to do first and might watch some of the funeral whilst doing some ironing that has built up.
Otherwise I’ll be getting on with some watercolour painting. I have an on line class this evening.
Thoughts with all who are poorly or have loved ones who are.

Wyllow3 Mon 19-Sept-22 09:32:02

thank you for the "hello" Urmstongran.

Thoughts with greyduster and the little one.

(I'm keeping an eye out for those on the move to an easier living space. It's a not yet situation but of interest.)

Yes I expect the roads will be quiet! As someone else remarked above, it was a bizarre day yesterday of full roads and last minute trips to supermarkets - and its only a day not the dreaded "C" word!

Mapleleaf Mon 19-Sept-22 09:21:44

Good morning from a grey and chilly South Yorkshire.

The little one is in my thoughts, Greyduster ?.

Like so many of you today, I will be watching the proceedings on tv. An emotional day for the RF to get through. A mixed day of emotions here, too, as we lost my FiL on this date.

Take care everyone.

Taichinan Mon 19-Sept-22 09:21:43

Good morning Mick and all. The sun is shining this morning so it feels warmer, but the thermostat in the hall still registers only 14°. Apparently it's 9° outside. Most of my packing is done ready for tomorrow and the house is gleaming has received a satisfactory flick of the duster, so today will be spent with the state funeral and many, many memories x

harrigran Mon 19-Sept-22 09:20:01

Good morning from a dry NE where the sun is now shining.
I have the day to myself so will get the washing and ironing done.
SIL and I sorted some more paperwork before I cooked dinner, we had a starter of Parma ham and melon, probably the last melon of the season as they are no longer soft and sweet.
Watched a film on Netflix before he went off to Skype DD who is returning to the UK this week but only for a couple of days. She has been ill ever since her Dad died and we are really concerned about her.
Sad day but the start of a new era, third monarch in my lifetime.

Blossoming Mon 19-Sept-22 09:07:02

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cloudy in this corner of Lancashire today.

Today will be a quiet day here as elsewhere throughout the UK.

Greyduster Mon 19-Sept-22 08:57:41

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from, as Wyllow has already said, a damp, cloudy South Yorkshire. Yes, Jax the little one is holding his own, but he has a long way to go, so we are keeping everything crossed. Sunday lunch with DD et al was rather chaotic yesterday, but enjoyed seeing GS wolfing it down! Today I shall, like others, be parked in front of the tv, with a box of tissues no doubt!
Have the best day you can folks.

aggie Mon 19-Sept-22 08:53:23

Good morning all, it’s a bit grey this morning but not as cold
No plans for today , I need to do washing but the power trip cut out last time I used the washing machine !
The TV is on , I doubt I’ll move far from it

Stilllearning Mon 19-Sept-22 08:51:53

Morning everyone, off to church soon and then driving to a friend’s to watch the Queen’s funeral together. We will both want to notice and comment on such a historic occasion so will appreciate the experience better in company.

Rest in Peace Elizabeth and all who we are each missing today.

Jaxjacky Mon 19-Sept-22 08:41:00

I hope you have good news Greyduster

EkwaNimitee Mon 19-Sept-22 08:40:08

Good Morning Mick and everyone from cool bright Carlisle.
I've no detailed plans for today, the television will be on shortly but I won't be sitting in front of it quite all day. I shall be watching all the momentous bits, it all reminds me of watching her coronation on a neighbours little black and white tv, the first time she really came to my notice. It's going to be strange not having her around any more.

Safe journey home Ashcombe, I guess the roads will be very quiet.

Wishing you all a peaceful day.

Jaxjacky Mon 19-Sept-22 08:35:55

Morning all, high cloud in S Hants. I’ll wave as you go past Ashcombe safe journey, roads should be quiet for you.
What a busy day gMattie a well deserved accolade, get you some rest woman.
We too will watch the funeral.
Have a gentle day all ??

Gala Mon 19-Sept-22 08:35:19

Good morning from a very wet Sefton.
A bit of a lie in for me this morning after a very pleasant but tiring short break in the Peak.
A day in front of the tv. Such a constant in our lives I'm sure we thought she'd go on forever. The end of an era.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 19-Sept-22 08:25:31

Good morning from a sunny Pollensa, it’s starting to get cooler here, but we have another week and it’s still in the high 20s.

I will watch the highlights of the funeral via Internet later today.

Have a peaceful day everyone and hugs for those who aren’t so chipper today.

SunshineSally Mon 19-Sept-22 08:24:44

Good morning Mick and everyone from an overcast south Hants.

A quiet day today, will be watching the funeral - but will take DDog for his walk first. Tire him out otherwise he’ll be wanting to play when we’re trying to watch the proceedings!

Take care everyone - ?? for those that need need them.

RIP your majesty.

Hugs and ? for you all x

BlueSapphire Mon 19-Sept-22 08:23:10

Good morning everyone from a dull and grey Northampton. I washed the towels yesterday and they need to go out to dry.

A lovely service yesterday in our town centre church. The first hymn, Love Divine, was also one of our wedding hymns and also sung at DH's funeral, so a tear or two was shed. Afterwards I went to a newly refurbished town centre pub, had a glass of wine and roast beef (saved me cooking last night)..

That was followed by a quick look around the shops - where I found the perfect new pair of shoes! Can now throw out the rather dilapidated pair I have been wearing for the last few years because they were so comfortable, but looking rather scruffy and down at heel.

Like so many, I will be watching the funeral today, and have no plans to do anything else.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 19-Sept-22 08:12:29

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull.

I will be watching the main part of the funeral and observing the two minutes silence. I might then go to the gym if I’m on my own as they kept it open on a skeleton staff. DH is going to do some work. He very much respects the RF but doesn’t feel the need to watch the funeral.
I’m going to message my son who will be on his own with grandson to see if he wants to come over to ours.

Love to all ??

HAZBEEN Mon 19-Sept-22 08:09:09

Good morning all. I was woken at 6.30 by my late neighbours family clearing her upstairs flat! She died 2 weeks ago and the HA gave them to the end of the month to clear the flat but they decided this morning was the time to do it. I know it was probably the best time for them but not for the neighbours 2 of which are in their 90s and very poorly. Besides the clashing around the shouting out the windows is ridiculous. You can tell I am not a morning person cant you!
Not doing much myself today, will be in front of the TV. The journey to Windsor passes just a mile up the road from us but I will watch from here as I cant get there because of my legs.
Take care everyone and hugs to all that need them.

Urmstongran Mon 19-Sept-22 08:03:32

What a thoughtful gesture NanKate. That’s really lovely of you.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 19-Sept-22 08:02:53

Morning all from a slightly cool West Oxfordshire. I have been moved already today by looking at the Order of Service on the BBC website. I suppose I should get up, leap in the shower and go downstairs!

baubles Mon 19-Sept-22 08:00:13

Good morning all from dry but dull South Lanarkshire.

Nothing happening today other than keeping an eye on the television whilst crocheting more poppies.

Urmstongran Mon 19-Sept-22 07:59:46

I keep meaning to say hello to you Wyllow ? (and then forgetting!)
?

cornergran Mon 19-Sept-22 07:52:29

Morning Mick, Morning All from a cloudy, cool corner of Somerset.

Yesterday was a quiet, at home day. Much the same today with the focus being the tv. I know what you mean gingster, a long goodbye.
