I thought the pall bearers did an excellent job of caring the Queen’s coffin which apparently weighed over 500Lbs. One was a young lad of 19. They did the Queen, themselves and the country proud.

Carrying and caring

Yes they certainly did!
My heart was in my mouth every time they lifted it from the hearse onto their shoulders. I was really glad to see a steadying hand at the back when they went up that long staircase into St George’s Chapel.

Apparently chosen for their strength. The needed to be!

They were brilliant ? I read that they flew in from Iraq where they were serving.

My heart was in my mouth much of the time especially up the steps but they were wonderful.
Their mothers must be so proud.

They were wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.

They were magnificent! I wondered if their coats had special shoulder pads to help with the burden of that lead- lined coffin.

They were fantastic. All those steps at St George's Chapel. I thought all the armed forces were spectacular all day and I felt so proud.

Brilliant.

Just so proud of them all.

Totally. There were many others of course but what those very young men did so perfectly was amazing. I would hope they get some sort of official recognition

Redhead56 Tue 20-Sept-22 10:52:53

They did an amazing job and yes we are very proud of them.

Not forgetting the 8 young airmen who acted as pall bearers in Scotland,. They too deserve acknowledgment.

They did a wonderful job. After the Westminster ceremony I thought there might have been different pall bearers at Windsor so when they came out again I admired them even more.

I haven't forgotten them grin

They were great, too.

Absolutely bloomin’ amazing. I just couldn’t fathom how the coffin appeared to be lowered and raised (before it was on their shoulders) without any apparent movement by the bearers. Like it was on a cushion of air. They all deserve a medal and a pint. What tales they’ll have for their grandchildren.

Callistemon21 Tue 20-Sept-22 11:24:28

Yes, congratulations to them all.

PollyDolly Tue 20-Sept-22 11:28:46

They were all excellent - not even a slight 'wobble', always in step and everything 'choreographed' magnificently.
The Royal Navy ratings who 'attended' to the gun carriage were brilliant too, male and female some with only a few short months of service apparently - what an honour! The must all be so proud. You could say 'the ultimate service' I guess.

Smileless2012 Tue 20-Sept-22 11:34:42

They were marvellous weren't they. Such a huge responsibility.

kissngate Tue 20-Sept-22 12:52:24

Absolutely magnificent. There will be some very proud parents and gr/parents today. What an honour and what a story to tell for future children and grandchildren.

Oldbat1 Tue 20-Sept-22 13:09:35

They were amazing. So strong, so disciplined, so caring. Couldn’t believe how “easy” they made it look.

LucyLocket55 Tue 20-Sept-22 13:10:40

They were fantastic!

DanniRae Tue 20-Sept-22 13:23:38

I thought they were amazing - they didn't put a step wrong. In fact the whole day went so well and I was very proud of everyone involved! grin

Tizliz Tue 20-Sept-22 14:32:37

It was like a well choreographed dance with the queen’s coffin in the centre
