Morning Mary ?
Morning Kate, do you not have a birthday about now? ?
Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but also dry here in brackley this morning.
Today will be sort out day as to some items of mail , I should have gone to the JR last Thursday to see consultant in coloreectal surgery, anyway due to appointment confusion did not go .
Saturday I had a letter telling me about last Thursday appointment and cancelling the October one .
The letter post dated the 20th took 4 days to get from Oxford to brackley.
Take Care,
Mick

No Matt = Monday.
Good morning everyone from a damp south Manchester we must have had rain in the night. I started this post twenty minutes ago but our Yorkshire Lass interrupted me (lovely) and we had a nice catch up as she was hands free on her motorway commute into work. She has a day off in lieu this Wednesday so we arranged that we’d drive over, picking up her grandpa en route. We haven’t seen her since Ibiza in June so that’ll be super.
Himself is taking my stepfather for his Covid jab late morning. Other than that we have no plans. I think I’ll put my summer shoes & sandals away now and get out my brogues and boots!
Enjoy Monday all who can. Mick I bet you are quite upset about your out patient muddle at the hospital. The postal system seems quite patchy in some areas at present. I hope you or your doctor can sort it out today.
Morning all from a rather wet Norfolk. We are off to Norwich for a few hours at some point. We haven’t got up yet - it is a holiday. We will definitely look around the Cathedral. It would be interesting to look round Julian of Norwich’s cell too. Not sure what else, but I understand there’s a massive covered market, 32 medieval churches and interesting independent shops! Hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning all from a cold and dreary Scottish Borders.
The party and weekend in East Lothian was great but a long bus journey yesterday. I just missed a bus so waited a long time in Edinburgh and was ashamed to see the state of the city centre. Drunken men; broken bottles, road works but with noone working.
My helper has covid poor chap so I worry for him now especially as I still have no heating.
Shame about your appointment chaos Mick. I do hope a phone call to the correct person will sort it.
Your GD ballet must have been terrific Ash so glad you could watch.
Have as good a day as possible everyone and I will try too ?
Good morning from a damp S Hampshire. Electric blanket was on before bed last night, with new pillows too, we slept for nine hours.
Yesterday I took my son to collect his new hybrid bike, the traffic everywhere was horrendous, reminded me why I don’t venture far at the weekend.
What a pickle Mick, hope it’s sorted soon.
Lots of travelling about on GM, safe journeys to all, happy holidays for those off on an adventure and positive outcomes for medical appointments.
Enjoy your day all ??
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is out in South Yorkshire but it’s cold. Mick I do hope you can get your appointments sorted out - it’s the last thing you need at the moment. As we found out when DH was ill, the time lag on some of these appointment letters is ridiculous and it can’t all be laid at the feet of the post office.
Yesterday, which I was not looking forward to, was actually quite nice. I enjoyed being out in the fresh air watching GS’s team playing football again (and being vocal on the touch line!), and then later we walked up to a very nice local pub for Sunday lunch. Watching GS demolish three courses is an entertainment in itself these days - he was once the pickiest eater on the planet!
Today I have to shift some stuff in the garage because I can’t move in there and I am having a new boiler fitted soon, and I will put a chicken casserole in the slow cooker, some of which will go into the freezer.
Safe travels today, Wyllow, and anyone else travelling;
A hug for those who need it.
Have the best day you can folks.
We’ve had hiccups in the past with medical appointments! The worst was arriving for an appointment to be told it had been cancelled. The letter arrived next day! With my recent hospital/GP shenanigans, all has been arranged over the phone and with text messages. This has all been under the Oxford Hospitals umbrella. I hope you get it all sorted Mick.
Oxford University Hospitals!
Llfl, have a good look at the glorious font in Norwich cathedral. It was made from a chocolate boiling pan!
Good morningMick and all. The sun and clouds are arguing about who is going to take charge of the weather in this part of Lincolnshire today. A quiet day after a lovely relaxing weekend. On Saturday we investigated all the lovely little shops and art galleries on the Bailgait and down Steep Hill before popping into the Cathedral. I've been coming here for a good few years but this is the first time I've seen it without scaffolding. I am utterly in awe of the amazing skills of our forefathers who produced such awe-inspiring buildings with none of the technical sophistication that we have in these 'civilised' days. We rounded off the day at a Thai Restaurant which was just perfect. Yesterday we all sat outside for a long while before DiL and DS pottered around mowing the lawn and dead-heading DiL's beautiful flowers. I'm soaking up the family togetherness (and warmth!) before returning home tomorrow. The house will feel so cold and empty.
Short notice appointments and postal delays are not a good combination Mick - I hope you can get things sorted soon.
So glad your little DGD's performance went well Ash - you must have been so proud!,. I remember once - hundreds of years ago now ? - standing at the railings of Buckingham Palace watching my DS1 on parade for a visit by, I think, the king and queen of Thailand. DS1 was shouting the orders and I was able to say to the American couple crammed next to me - "That's my son"! Such pride - and they were suitably impressed!!
Safe travels to the travellers today, and I hope all at home with illness have a good day today. Take care all x
Good morning from sunny West Sussex (it must have rained in the night as ground outside is damp-looking).
We returned from ‘The North’ at the end of last week after a lovely few weeks with DD2 and family. We made a foray to the west and visited the Burrell Collection in its newly updated building - too much to take in on one visit so we will return.
I waved to the Scottish grans who must have been within waving distance of our meandering route through Renfrewshire, South Lanarkshire and the Borders. Next time I am going to lurk around Polmont in the hope of some of Grandmabatty’s baking coming my way ?
We camped with our van at a farm near Brackley so also waved to Mick.
Lovely to hear of the successful ballet performance Ashcombe.
Now trying to remember where I left off with life in the south. I have book group on Wednesday so need a quick reread of ‘The Pull of the Stars’. Nasturtiums have, triffid-like, taken over the garden - mostly leaves so will pull them out and see what’s underneath.
The sky has clouded over now. Have the best day possible. Thoughts with those suffering ?
Good Morning Mick and everyone from chilly but sunny Carlisle.
Yesterday I got my freezer defrosted, the first time since I've been here so nearly 18months. That's probably why it took most of the day in spite of bowls of hot water inside. Today I will retrieve most of its contents from the new garage freezer. The latter defrosts itself, thank goodness. Worth paying extra for, I detest defrosting operations. There will be laundry to do plus the usual housework and hopefully some gardening this afternoon.
I keep mulling over where to go for Christmas, what's causing me to hesitate over booking anything is the wretched train situation re the strikes and cutting back of services. We shall see.
Have the best possible day everyone.
Litterpicker, my DIL was one pf the project managers for the refurbished Burrell.
#proudMIL!
You certainly were in waving distance from four of the Glesca Grannies!
Good morning from a wet W Kent. A bit of a nothing day so I have decided to sort out wardrobe from Summer to Winter, that should keep me occupied for a while.
We have decided to stay at home for Christmas EkwaNimitee
for just that reason the idea of being stuck somewhere in the middle of Winter is beyond us now.
Best wishes to all.
Good morning Mick and everyone. A cold bright morning in this corner of Lancashire today.
Nothing planned for today. I had a better night so will do a little light housework. Fingers crossed the nausea has settled down.
I haven’t read the thread yet, will catch up now. In the meantime wishing you all a Happy Monday ??
Litter picker I'll have the kettle on and save some baking just in case!
Good morning Mick and everyone from a sunny but chilly south Hants ☀️?. I am resisting the temptation to put the log burner on as I know I’ll be sorely tempted to laze the day away if I do! DH wants it on though, so we’ve compromised - after the dog walk!
Saw elderly in-laws yesterday … MiL is really going downhill … inevitable I know, but it’s so sad. Her quality of life is so limited now her vision, hearing and mobility have gone and it’s so hard trying to think of ways and news to cheer her up. FiL is finding it hard too and has finally agreed to me popping in more to help with housework to take the pressure off him.
Today, we’ve not much planned - other than dog walks and a post office visit for airmail post. I do need to wash the floors though … will see how I feel after the dog walk!
Have a good day everyone. Thinking of those with medical appointments coming up and those undergoing treatments ??
Hugs and ? for you all x
How infuriating, Mick, as if getting appointments wasn’t hard enough. You obviously need a diary secretary like the PM! Hope you get it sorted soon.
Nothing much planned for today apart from laundry since the drive layers are not due back till tomorrow. They seem to work in half days so think it may take till well into next week before the job is done. Good thing my kind neighbour is happy to house my car.
Good morning from Durham, where it’s cool and damp. Waiting in for a visit from the Gas Engineer to fit a new time switch - no heating/hot water for 4 days - definitely not my chosen way to keep the bill down!
DD2 and family safely home yesterday, but more problems with assistance at Newcastle airport - such a difference in the attitude of individual staff members. They really need some assistance themselves to understand what’s needed of them.
Mick I think Marydoll’s suggestion of getting someone to help with your appointment malarkey is a good one - it sounds a proper mess.
Safe travels to those making long journeys and I hope those with GP/Hospital appointments get the results they hope for.
Best wishes to all.
Good morning all from thankfully, a return of sunshine as opposed to yesterday’s dreich, dark day.
At my first Pilates class last week my instructor, Martha was convinced the ongoing and getting worse pain from my fractured hip which required cocodamol, ibuprofen and amitriptyline pain relief was in fact coming from a previous spinal fracture and nerve damage from 6 yrs ago. She gave me a plan of gentle certain positions and movements which I have diligently followed. Yesterday the only slight pain I had was dulled with 2 ibuprofen! This morning I have a slight niggle and have decided to have a day without pain relief??I just wanted to share this in the hope it may help others living with debilitating pain. I was willing to try anything and for me, this was the solution. I have a check up with my GP next week, she also does Pilates and it will be interesting to hear her views on this.
I am on of the glescagrannies you were in waving distance of litterpicker?. Typically, as it is on our doorstep, we have yet to visit the refurbished Burrell. A few family members enjoyed visiting again and we look forward to seeing all the changes.
Enjoy your catch-up with Grandmabatty, another glescagrannie although she lives in Polmont. She is marvellous company.
Best wishes for a good day to all.
Good morning all from wet Scarborough. We are just leaving and on our way home. It’s been an enjoyable visit, though last night sleep barely touched me! Great to be back in my own bed tonight!
We are stopping off at McArthur Glenn at York- haven’t been there for at least a year. Wish I was in a better frame of mind for it but beggars can’t be choosers!
How annoying your appointment mix up Mick.
Glad your DGS had so much support with her ballet Ashcombe sound like a lovely display.
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Well remembered Mary tomorrow is the BIG day ?. From memory I think it is Grandmadinosaur’s too.
