If this is correct then I hope that they are those of Keith Bennett, so that he can finally have a funeral.

So sad that this mother died without ever knowing what happened to her son.

No, I wouldn't think so.

It could prove to be animal remains, perhaps. sad

Someone's idea of a joke?

I hope not, that family needs closure.

Forensic experts would have known immediately or quite quickly.

BBC Website Saturday afternoon:
*Police searching for Moors murderers' victim Keith Bennett have said no identifiable human remains have so far been found, as excavations continue.*

So sorry, I had not seen this post.

So hard for the family.

Keith’s brother said if there’s anything of note he would know by tonight.
“We’ve been here before” he said.
Sadly as the hours rolled by he must have felt very deflated.

I didn’t have a good feeling I thought it was nt going to be a successful search I was hoping though

This, just now in the Telegraph:

“No evidence of remains on Saddleworth Moors in hunt for body of Keith Bennett.

Forensics officers and detectives had spent the past week searching for the remains of the 12-year-old killed by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.”

Sadly, no resolution for that poor family then.

Oh dear.
sad
The search continues.

While you always hope that the remains of the little boy can be found, when I saw the name of the person involved, I had immediate doubts.

He was the person who stated he had a shawl which he claimed belonged (?) to one of the victims of Jack the Ripper....which reputable science disproved.

Callistemon21 Fri 07-Oct-22 16:14:01

Oh dear, a morbid attention-seeker.

Georgesgran Fri 07-Oct-22 16:17:03

Surely not?? I wonder if it’s been animal remains found - perhaps a tooth or fragment of bone. Still no peace for Keith’s poor family.

Just seen Dee1012 post. I had no idea.

Still no peace for the poor family.

From the Telegraph this morning:

“The brother of moors murders victim Keith Bennett has demanded an apology from the “thoughtless and heartless” amateur sleuth who sparked a new police search for his remains.

Alan Bennett, 66, who like his late mother Winnie Johnson has dedicated his life to hunting for Keith's grave, said recent claims made by Russell Edwards, a true-crime author, had caused untold anger, hurt and distress.

He accused Mr Edwards, who has previously claimed to unmask Jack the Ripper, of being a "publicity seeker.”

Oh my goodness, that is terrible.
The poor family, there will never be any peace, I am so sorry to read this.
