Thank you for the welcome. I think I had this name all the time, it was near the beginning of Gransnet, and I remember Soop, Grannyactivist Baggs and a few others from that time.

Hello Grannyeggs welcome to this lovely cosy friendly kitchen smile

SueDonim Tue 18-Oct-22 12:46:57

Hello Grannyeggs! No idea who you were ? but there’s a comfy seat right here and bottomless tea and coffee pots and plentiful cakes. ? ☕️ ?

Grannyeggs Tue 18-Oct-22 12:41:46

Hello! Please may I join you all in this warm welcoming kitchen. I am a long time Gransnetter who left for a few years , lurked for a few more and am now jumping back in. We need a refuge from the madness of this crazy world. Soop so glad you are still in charge of the kitchen.

Hoping there’s some good news from your DS Hellogirl sending much love and support and hoping for the best possible outcome. Also thanks for the info on Longrow!
Hoping all is ok BladeAnnie
SueD you couldn’t have done any more, hope your mum settles back home ok and isn’t too difficult. Hoping your DC gets some suitable treatment so the illness is managed as best that it can be. Hope they’re out of hospital soon too
It’s a gorgeous autumn day here in Inverness, no wind, sunny and quite mild. I even took one of my four layers off earlier! Im just in from the garden for a quick lunch then I’ll be back out in the sunshine. It does me a world of good and I’m enjoying it
Hoping the fresh air helps you too Blossoming
Thinking of Jax at the dentist, my turn next week
Sending ❤️❤️❤️ to Baggs

Hellogirl I was sorry to hear your news about your son. I often think about him as I remember him being diagnosed. I pray with you that the radiotherapy is working flowers.

SueDonim Tue 18-Oct-22 11:36:46

You’ve put my whinging into perspective, Hellogirl. I am so sorry your son has this awful illness, my heart goes out to you. flowers

Sainthood, Jaxjacky! It’s a good thing you can’t see inside my head! grin

It’s a beautiful day here after a lot of rain over the past few days. It was only 6.5deg at 9:15 but we’ve now got the windows open smileas it’s so warm in this room.

dustyangel Tue 18-Oct-22 09:44:00

Hellogirl I hope your son gets good news soon.

A warm hug for everyone facing life’s trials just now. You’re right sued, many are stretched to their limits.

Goodnight everyone. TOYA.

Blossoming Mon 17-Oct-22 22:17:27

Good luck for tomorrow JaxJacky

The news of my friend’s death has hit me hard, we shared the early stages of our recovery, encouraging each other, tears and triumphs. We have kept in touch and it seems so cruel that we came this far together and he has been struck down by sepsis as a result of a wound and gone just like that.

So sorry to hear about your DC’s health problems SueD and Hellogirl.

I managed to walk to the other side of the bridge and back this afternoon, first time I’ve been out on my own for weeks. I needed some nature and it was glorious sunshine, though cold.

Susan56 Mon 17-Oct-22 22:08:22

Hellogirl, hoping and praying you get positive news from your son?

Jaxjacky Mon 17-Oct-22 21:30:22

You are destined for sainthood Suedonim, you can unclench your teeth and stop biting your tongue for a few hours ?
Tough times Blossoming and baubles sometimes life is bewildering, desperately sad and just plain ?.
Trimmed hair and new glasses collected, my brain needs to adjust to the nuances in my varifocals as prescription tweaks have been made.
Dentist tomorrow, again; one of my few regrets is not looking after my teeth better.
Later all x

Sorry, my post should have said there is a road in Campbeltown called Longrow!

Hellogirl1 Mon 17-Oct-22 21:29:13

Brook, regarding your whisky, there`s a road in Campbeltown, a few miles from Soop, perhaps the whisky is made there?
There have been annoying video ads popping up in the middle of our posts, if GNHQ know of it I wish they`d get rid of them!
I`ve been waiting to hear from my eldest son, he`s been at our local hospital for a blood transfusion, having been found to have only half the blood he should have. He`s been fighting lung cancer for the last just over 4 years, things seemed to be going well, then it was found to have spread to his other lung. He`s been quite poorly, but they recently put him on another course of intensive radiotherapy, but told him if it doesn`t work, there`s nothing else they can offer him. He`s waiting now for a scan to see how things are, so we all have our fingers and everything else crossed.

I hope Urms has arrived safely at her destination!

I’m sorry so many folk have sad and worrying situations to cope with. I think after the pandemic (and I’ll try not to mention the state of the country right now) so many of us are feeling stretched to our limits, everything has been turned topsy-turvy and when yet another sadness occurs, we can feel at breaking point. Sending soothing thoughts and hugs to you all. Xxx

Thank you for all the good wishes for my mum’s homecoming. She is now home - and complaining! ?‍♀️ The ambulance came too early. It was raining. She didn’t like some of the food I’d bought. (She was v rude about it because she thought it was from a friend of hers until I said I’d bought it. She replied WELL, I STILL DIDNT LIKE IT!) Her neighbour said her bookcase might fall on her. (It’s been there 30+ years without falling). The sitting room looks a mess.. Sigh.

One of my DC was hospitalised over the weekend and is probably going to be diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Today’s treatments are much better than of old so it’s hardly the end of the world compared with what lots of people are dealing but it was a bit of a shock.

Honestly, I feel like I do nothing but moan and complain on here, which is awful. blush I shall try to be more cheerful from now on. smile

Evening Kitcheners. I have a three year old for a sleepover. He's happily sleeping with his poo bear, Shaun the sheep and a random tiger. He's a wee sweetheart. Grandma is resting on the couch until it's my bedtime. I hope Soop's access issues are sorted, Urms is ensconced in her favourite bar and all of you are content. Annsixty are you recovered? Toya

Adverts covering the threads has been addressed. HQ are aware but seem disinclined to do anything.

Blossoming Mon 17-Oct-22 19:13:09

I suspect it’s more that she can’t see posts because of adverts covering them. Hopefully GNHQ will sort be out smile

annsixty Mon 17-Oct-22 19:07:23

I am at a loss to understand why soop is posting when she says she cannot post.
Is someone posting for her?

BladeAnnie Mon 17-Oct-22 18:11:47

Good Evening dear kitcheners - I've been missing in action for a few days as I've had quite a bit to deal with. Sending my best wishes to everyone and a special hug for all you lovely people dealing with illness and sadness in the family ?? TOYA

Blossoming Mon 17-Oct-22 17:50:20

Dear Soop it’s possible you may be using the ‘mobile’ version of the site rather than the‘desktop’ one.

I’m not sure if you’ll be able to read this but I’ll try to explain.

If you scroll down to the very bottom of the page (see photo) it will say either ‘desktop site’ or‘mobile site’. Click on the text to switch to the other view. If it doesn’t help you can just switch it back.

I don’t know how or why it happens but it has caught me out a few times.

soop Mon 17-Oct-22 17:27:00

There are advertisements all over the place. Spitting tacks.

soop Mon 17-Oct-22 17:24:17

Strange things are happening. I feel like Alice through the looking glass. What on earth is wrong with the format of my trusty kitchen forum? I shall return tomorrow and hope that the page has been miraculously restored. Buggerations galore! moon

soop Mon 17-Oct-22 17:20:32

Apologies. I'm unable to gain access to our kitchen. The format is chaotic. Have sent email to GNHQ for assistance.

Hello everyone. OH and I are currently watching the Parliament channel. Ms Truss has reappeared, but hasn’t spoken. We went to our neighbour’s funeral today. The vicar was taken ill at the last moment so someone else had to be shipped in. He did very well though. The family had made a lovely video of their husband/father which we all watched. One of the grandchildren - I think she was 8 - gave a lovely little talk. Afterwards there was a wake at the local pub, but OH preferred to go straight home, so we did. OH is cooking dinner tonight, so I can relax.
