I am well aware there are people worse off than me. I am done ‘moaning’.
Good Morning Friday 24th April 2026
What do you find yourself avoiding more as you get older?
Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and
Jolly Good Company
WELCOME to you lovely lot
I am well aware there are people worse off than me. I am done ‘moaning’.
Lovely photos Soop! I’m so sorry Mr Soop is suffering. I know how he feels, having suffered from migraine since I was very young. I had a lovely afternoon at our book group. Twelve of us turned up. Our theme today was books about the Royals. I talked about Lady Glenconner’s book, ‘Lady in Waiting’ and Chips Channon’s Diaries. They do lovely food in the cafe where we meet and I enjoyed a prawn sandwich and a slice of coffee cake. I am out again tonight meeting friends. I’ve been asked to take along a birthday cake - I’m known for always having a stash of cakes in the freezer - so I’ve defrosted a chocolate and cardoman cake and iced it with chocolate frosting. I’ve started preparing for the influx of family over the weekend. The small downstairs bedroom is ready for our daughter. I’ll sort out the rest tomorrow morning. Have a good evening everyone.
Awwww!
Hello my lovely Kitcheners.
Mr Soop has a migraine. When our computer played silly b******s recently, we needed to close the system down and reinstate. We are still wading through waffle and passwords and, to be truthful, we both wish that we could manage without the device. Only we cannot.
The bank statement has thrown up a VERY odd, substantial payment to an "escort agency". Neither of us have a clue what it's all about. Mr Soop will make enquiries with the bank very shortly.
In the meantime, best wishes to our Blossoming for tomorrow's appointment.
I may be able to show you one of the latest pics of Torben very shortly. I'm about to put it on to the desktop.
Thank you, Brook. Enjoy your break with your DD and family, you have earned it after all your wonderful hostessing this week!
A very well done Charleygirl in taking part in the trials which can’t be easy but undoubtedly will help many others in the future. Truly good work
I’m just having a half hour breather, our visitors have all gone out to Drumnadrochit and Loch Ness so I’ve had a quick tidy up and just having a rest. More chopping of veg later for two different vegetarian curries followed by Ice cream for the children and a cheese board for the adults. Then then that’s me done as I’m off to the sanctuary of DD1s house tomorrow where she’ll be looking after me ?
A sad day Grannmarie sending you and your DH ?
I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow Blossoming

Blossoming I have a feeling you would not like to exchange places with me. I have finished a 2-year eye trial and am now almost a year into the next 3 year one. I go monthly, have all that you have and occasionally more and to round it off I have an injection into my worst eye.
The good thing is that it has stopped the progression in my eye and many thousands of others so NICE are deciding whether to offer and pay for it throughout the country.
I have offered to give teaching sessions for those who, like yourself, are terrified. We will eventually banish Dry Macular.
Charleygirl, that is amazing, so brave and selfless of you. You are a star?!

Thank you Cornergran and Granmarie. It will soon be over!
Good morning, Soop and lovely Kitchen people, just popping in for a quick catch up and to wish Blossoming well for tomorrow's appointment.
Busy day yesterday looking after wee DGS2. His Mummy was working from work yesterday, there's a novelty!
So we walked down to tbe local station to meet her off the train at 5pm. DGS2 goes like the clappers on his wee balance bike. I've to run to keep up with him. I was glad he stopped every so often to admire the ' Halloween Houses ' on our way.
It's pouring down in Lanarkshire, miserable day for DH and me to visit his Dsister's grave. She died of Covid two years ago. I've got a pot cheerful violas to place at her headstone.
TOYA, especially those with worries, illness or sorrow. ??
Be thinking of you tomorrow blossoming, soon over now. Get better soon wishes to neine and everyone with health issues, life’s hard sometimes. Nothing wring with sardines on toast urms, I love it, suffice to say Mr C does not
.
Jogging along here. I’ll be in trouble with the hospital as my pain diary is late, must send it off this morning. The spinal injections haven’t helped as much as was predicted, see what the experts think when they see the diary. Our friends surgery went well yesterday. Her husband is likely to be an inpatient for some while which although the thought distresses her does mean she is released from day to day care while she recovers.
Not much happening here. We had an enjoyable couple of hours at Cardiff Bay after our trip to Companies House yesterday, the sun shone and it felt very warm. Mr C did all the driving, that man is a star, I was too anxious going and very tired coming back. Suspect he’ll have a well deserved snooze while I’m at a meeting this afternoon.
Take care everyone.
Just popping in to check that you are still here! Please don't forget to leave a trail to the new kitchen when you move.
TOYA
All the best for Friday Blossoming.
Jaxjacky, thanks for the info on fish fingers, but unfortunately we don`t like the taste of the omega ones.
Hoping everything goes ok on Friday Blossoming, I’m a regular visitor to the eye clinic here so I know exactly how you feel, it’ll soon be over though and hopefully a good outcome
Hope you’re feeling better soon neine but please get help if you can
I’ve had a busy day looking after our visitors, the meals seem to have gone down ok thank goodness. I always worry that they won’t like what I’ve cooked etc. … but I just pour everyone a generous G&T and it all seems ok! More of the same tomorrow but on Friday I’m escaping to DD1 in Cambridge so looking forward to that
Well done Jax in your Mum to the rescue role ? you sound like such a kind, caring mum x
I’d be ok with the eyes, but the idea of a CT, no way, I’ve sent you a pm Blossming, best of luck.
Oh Naughty that sounds horrendous, can you get help, 111 maybe? ?
I think Chrissielou if there’s rain coming the farmers use every hour.
Flu jab done this morning, all fine ?I was up early ferrying son to work, long story involving broken bike and being a Mum.
I’ll be off, last Doc Martin tonight. Enjoy your evening, if you possibly can x
Very brief drop in tonight...pain has taken over today... I've been on the verge of tears for the last few hours.
Blossoming ...very good luck for Friday...I hope it's one of those when you look back visits that you say.... That actually wasn't as bad as I thought!!!!
Blossoming I hope your appointment goes smoothly, it will soon be over and how relieved you will feel.
Just a work day for me, traffic into Oxford has been light this week because its half term.
Home for an easy tea; baked potatoes in the air fryer, delicious!
There is a tractor in the field next to our cottage, going up and down, its got all its lights on, why plough/sow or whatever in the dark?
Good luck on Friday, Blossoming. Hope all goes well.
Urms, DD1 used to love pilchards on toast for a quick tea before Guides. And an Ecuadorean friend loved the idea when he saw me preparing it one day. Memories...
Thanks Urms, he tries his hardest and I often think it can’t be easy being married to me
. I know Friday will soon be just a slightly unpleasant memory!
X posts Blossoming I can empathise with your anxiety about Friday’s eye procedure. Your husband sounds a darling, distracting you ... and those pies sound fab!
‘Evening All’
It’s been a warm humid sort of day over here. Not much in the way of sunshine but ‘sticky’. We went out for a long leisurely stroll along the paseo. The sky and the sea were melded together in a soft dove grey. Lots of holidaymakers down there in shorts, strappy tops and the de rigeur of the elderly - white trainers. No wonder the young choose neon green, blue or orange these days. They don’t want to be seen in what ‘us oldies’ wear! Unless of course it’s a young woman in a midi print dress. I like that look but I know several of my peer group say ‘oh why don’t they wear a nice pair of sandals with a pretty dress?’
?
Himself is getting ready to meet his pal from Glasgow. They are off to a bar to watch the Rangers game.
I’ve just fed us both. A culinary delight as I’m sure you’ll agree ... toasted slices of ciabatta topped with tinned sardines. Honestly I don’t know how I do it on the money.
#lazygran
Such effort from me if we’re not eating out!
Have a good evening dear kitcheners. I shall be settling down to watch a film on Netflix later after I’ve rung our Yorkshire Lass for a catch up. x
Hello everyone. Commiserations to those with forthcoming hospital appointments. OH and I had a lovely day in Oxford. A delicious lunch at Cote and then the Pre-Raphaelite exhibition at the Ashmolean, which was superb. Home by 6 pm and I don’t think we’ll want much dinner.
Good evening dear Kitcheners. Still no baking here
I confess I’m feeling anxious about Friday’s hospital day, the CT scan will be a doddle but I hate the eye exam, I would never wear contact lenses as I can’t bear anything touching my eye. I hate the eye drops, the bright lights and am generally being a big baby! Mr. B has noticed this and is doing his best to distract me, he has been to Lidl for the regular weekly shop and to the bakery to collect the bread order. He brought back two gingerbread men, which we had with afternoon coffee and two cheese pies to have with beans for tea. They’re basically meat and potato pies with cheese and onions instead of meat. Naughty, delicious and comforting! We have taken some things to a local charity’s shop but apart from that I have been pottering all day, must pull myself together tomorrow and make sure I have everything ready for an early start on Friday.
Sending positive vibes to you all, I hope any poorly people are on the mend. TOYA.
