??? and ??? to all those who are suffering in various ways.
I had a reasonably quiet day today. I made a batch of lemon ice cream, which is currently the family favourite. Then, I weighed out the dried fruit for the C cake and soaked it in rum. I will finish the cake in the morning. It’s only a five inch square cake but I always make a chocolate cake too for those who don’t eat rich fruit cake. OH had a doctor’s appointment - he sent an engage consult message at 8 am, the GP rang him at 11 am and he went to see her at 1 pm. Happily, the thing he was worried about turned out to be nothing. He’s now cooking dinner.

Your dear girl, Baggs. How brave she is being. flowers

I am sorry for the many sadnesses currently in the Kitchen, from illnesses to baby loss. Life certainly isn’t always a bowl of roses. flowers

Baggs it must have been the hardest thing for your DD and SIL to pass on the news to their sons. I can’t imagine how difficult that would be. They will need the strength you have all displayed to cope with this. Thinking of you all.
soop take care and a big hug.
Sorry about your friend annsixty
Bladeannie sorry about your DD2. It has happened to our family too. You will all recover but not forget.

brook2704 Mon 24-Oct-22 17:58:37

BladeAnnie for you and your DD ?❤️

brook2704 Mon 24-Oct-22 17:56:56

Such a shame about the lost portrait soop I know postal deliveries are taking a lot longer than usual due to the postal strikes, I think in the last fortnight there’s been 2 strike days so there’s probably quite a bit of a backlog, I really hope it turns up soon

BladeAnnie Mon 24-Oct-22 17:51:16

Just popping in to send lots of love and hugs to everyone not feeling quite 100%. I've spent today with DD2 who has had a difficult few months after sadly having a miscarriage in June. She's OK but still needing lots of support and TLC from her mum ?? TOYA ??

GrannyGravy13 Mon 24-Oct-22 17:26:37

Popped in to see how our dear soop is, sending (((hugs)))

Baggs your DD seems to be so strong in the most terrible old circumstances, what a star ?

Thinking of all our kitchen friends with illness and worries ?

It’s been a beautiful sunny day here, extremely mild for the time of year.

soop Mon 24-Oct-22 17:21:07

Thank you for making me smile, Baggs.
May I also comment on your dear daughter's positive frame of mind. It is true, we can only live one day at a time. My fond love to you all.

Chrissielou. Huge congratulations to your dear daughter. Her radiant smile must have made your heart dance with joy.

We have a friend in the village who has terminal cancer of the oesophagus and another awaiting a diagnosis. Also, a friend has secondary cancer and because her husband is poorly, has decided to delay further treatment until he can be properly cared for. It is a cruel illness. We must do our best to enjoy the moment. Again, One day at a time is most appropriate.

The pet portrait appears to be lost. On the day we posted it, our local post office was not operating as the computer was malfunctioning. We went into Tarbert and fitted in a few errands together with posting the gift to a friend. We have posted dozens of paintings and not one, other than this one, has failed to be delivered. We cannot find the receipt. We have been through all pockets and searched through clutter that we could have easily rid ourselves of. No joy! This is day 10. I put my address on the back of the parcel. Surely, if it had been wrongly delivered, some one would think to return it.

Hey ho! We have a new prime minister. Thank heaven it isn't blustering Boris.

A well-deserved group (*hug*). moon

Thank you Baggs for letting us know how your DD and family are getting on. Sending much love and support ❤️ Ps love the Puppy Put!
Sad news about your friends DH annsixty hoping some treatment can be found and things improve a bit
It’s been a lovely mild autumn day here, the sun has been shining and I managed an hour in the garden - my happy place. The leaves are starting to come down now thick and fast so there will be lots of tidying up needed very soon.
Soop ❤️?
Sending everyone a gentle hug especially those in need of some tlc

Chrissielou Mon 24-Oct-22 16:29:25

It's been a day of bright sunshine and heavy thundery showers. I've been in the office on one of 2 days in, the remaining 3 are working from home. Thank you to all the kind wishes over the weekend, my DD1 was looking radiant at her party, she was wearing a wig as her hair is only just starting to grow, but my how incredible modern wigs are nowadays! The colouring and style were similar to how her real hair used to be, it was lovely to see her looking so happy.
Sending my thoughts to all those who are struggling for one reason or another. How fragile life is, I believe we have to focus on today and be thankful for the 'now'.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 24-Oct-22 16:02:12

Baggs I can’t imagine and hope I never have to hear a conversation like that. Breaks my heart thinking of them all. You are obviously a family who are all there for each other. ?

annsixty I’m sorry to hear about your friend news about her DH. ?

Soop ?

Love to you all ? x

annsixty Mon 24-Oct-22 15:51:59

You must be immensely proud of them Baggs
Their strength and stoicism will carry them on their journey.

Baggs Mon 24-Oct-22 15:43:00

annsixty, thank you for thinking of us. DD and partner told their boys of DD's diagnosis this weekend. There were tears and hugs and hot chocolate and then they went on with their day. This is how it must be. My admiration for the bravery and stoicism of DD and partner knows no bounds.

Baggs Mon 24-Oct-22 15:40:22

Here is something to cheer you up, soop. I keep watching it!!

Hellogirl1 Mon 24-Oct-22 14:43:42

Soop, over the years you`ve had many a kind word for me, so may I now reciprocate with hugs, hugs, and MORE hugs, bless your heart! xxx

annsixty Mon 24-Oct-22 14:41:07

Good afternoon all.
So sad that soop and others are having unhappy times.
I am no stranger to them myself especially these last few weeks.
So much sad news for so many, my brief sojourn in A&E scared me and made me aware of my age but having been told I was ok made me realise I must get on with the things I can do and not dwell on the things I can’t.

My dear friend of many years who I referred to recently, rang this morning to say they now have a definite diagnosis of cancer for her husband.
It was what they had been dreading but it is still a shock,
They go to The Christie tomorrow for a meeting with oncology which of course reminded of Bagg’s DD and I wonder how she and her family are.

I have had my haircut this morning, I have it done at home, so I look slightly tidier than I did.

I send my very best wishes to all not well or looking after dear ones not well.

I hope also that we have some stability in politics for a while so that it doesn’t add to our stress.

Blossoming Mon 24-Oct-22 12:40:36

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. I’m having a lazy day after a bad night of tummy collywobbles. It’s settled down now and I’m slowly making my way through a bowl of porridge. I’m feeling tired though so an afternoon nap is in order. The weather was horrible first thing but it’s brightening up now and the autumn leaves are looking so beautiful. I’m aiming to do a little cycling later and some balance exercises later.

I hope you all had a peaceful night and any under the weather are on the mend x

cornergran Sun 23-Oct-22 23:40:51

We’re all human soop and have some down times as I did a few days ago. Please don’t think you can’t share your feelings here, it’s only right you should make use of the safe space you have created. A warm hug for you.

Take care all experiencing storms. It’s not been a bad weather day here, some blue sky. We’re very pleased with ourselves as the curtains are finally changed and the carpet edges steamed. It’s only taken a week. Oops grin. Family here tomorrow so I’ll be sharing that happy tired feeling kitty. Enjoy the sunshine for us all please urms, those temperatures would be wonderful.

Goodnight everyone. Sleep tight.

Grannmarie Sun 23-Oct-22 23:27:29

Thank you, Brook, Jaxjacky and Grandmabatty. We're having a lovely time. We had a wonderful dinner and drinks but we brought our cheeseboard back to the room because I wanted to see the last episode of Bloodlands! Small pleasures indeed. Cliffhanger, no spoilers but I think there will be another series....

Take care in the storms, especially if you are driving, Jaxjacky. Our weather is quite mild, damp and drizzly.

Thinking of everyone, especially those with worries, illness or sorrow. NNGB. ??

muse Sun 23-Oct-22 22:18:48

Sorry to hear you're struggling soop. Take care. Perhaps Wallace and Gromit lifted your spirits a little. A hug from them wouldn't go amiss at times like this.

Superb meal LadyLFL.

I should imagine it was a tired but very happy feeling Chrissielou. 2 cakes - excellent.

Fingers crossed our carpenter is here tomorrow morning. Our alarm is set for 8:00am.

Doodle Sun 23-Oct-22 19:29:02

Dear soop you’ve been there for so many of us over the years. Lean on our strength now to keep your lovely kitchen warm and welcoming until you feel like joining in again.
Big group hug for everyone. ?

Jaxjacky Sun 23-Oct-22 18:48:24

You’re there for us, we’re there for you soop that’s how it works, take care.
What a lovely view from your window Grannmarie, beautiful.
I think it’s the weather Urms sun shining, people out and about, reminds me of our time in France.
Meanwhile..we’ve had storms, one woke me at 6:30 and I was driving in one this afternoon.
Gammon in the slow cooker, spuds on the go, we’ll eat soon as it’s a TV evening here. Enjoy yours x

BlueBalou Sun 23-Oct-22 18:36:25

Hugs for you soop and anyone else who’s finding that life’s buggerations get all a bit too much sometimes.
