Completed the London Marathon.
Aged 72, and I got a Personal Best time, beating my previous pb set in 2012.
I'm not what you would call a runner and I certainly didn't do any running until I prepared for my first LM in 2012---being encouraged by my 2 daughters to do it in Olympic year.
Then pauses ,with no running at all due to life getting in the way. Completed again in 2015 and 2017, then started serious preparation in January this year.
With my name on my charity top I received sooooo much support all around the course, and especially when I was struggling a bit towards the end.
Also huge cheers as I ran down the Mall to the finish.
Best one yet and definitely my last
I will stick to Half Marathons and below ftom now on.
Always good to go out on a high and kinder on my back
There are definite bonuses to being an old , crazy lady

I'm so impressed. I thought doing Zumba once a week and looking for a Pilates class was good mobility protection, and I'm 70. You put me to shame. ??

That’s marvellous, wonderful to hear of such fitness and mental determination. Very well done you!

Well done. I used to run 10k's, but now have motor neurone and just 'potter' round the house. I say to everyone 'do what you can while you can'

lincolnimp Go girl! So many people limit themselves by society's fixed expectations about age. We should have our white hair permed, wear sensible, flat shoes, pleated skirts with elasticated waists and a blue anorak. We can do housework and cooking, bend at the waist to pull weeds up, fade into the background and not have opinions about anything.

I'm a 5th dan black belt in Shotokan karate and train four times a week. I will continue to do so until the day I fall off my perch! ??? The photo is of me taking part in the Captain Tom 100 challenge during lockdown last year.
