Where’s Pantglas these days? ?
I haven’t seen her posting much since she came back from the Andalusian sunshine. Hope all is okay.

Marydoll Tue 04-Oct-22 08:20:49

Kalu, fabulous news! I am so happy for you and your DH.

Nan Kate, that's exactly what I want, want, want!!!!!!

Urmstongran Tue 04-Oct-22 08:20:29

Here’s Matt. Topical and witty as ever!

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry but windy. That said this little place still needs no heating on yet. I have bare feet but have slipped a cardi on over my pj’s!

Today I have Part 2 at noon of a deep clean with my dental hygienist, the gentle Eddie. I’m quite relaxed about it this time around now I know what is coming and that it doesn’t hurt a bit. Later I’m staying with L’il Miss to a class birthday. party. It’s only round the corner from me so I’ll walk across at 5pm and take over from her mum who can drive home and get the Boy Wonder sorted for his dad to take him to football practice. We are all missing grandad ha!

I’m watching “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Murders” on Netflix. It’s not for the feint hearted. So many missed opportunities to quiz this man a little deeper and apprehend him along the way. Sure the cops wouldn’t be so accepting of explanations nowadays. Demanding basic ID and “do you mind if we take a look around sir?” would have saved so many families such heartache. It’s tense and chilling in equal measure.

Your day sounded right up my street BlueSapphire - well the natter without the knitting! and then the pub lunch! Such a great charity to support Ashcombe. I was sponsored once for not drinking alcohol for a month and raised a goodly sum for a similar charity.

Just a quick Good Morning to all. Smallest DGS will be here for the morning in 10 minutes.
We are taking eldest DGS for lunch today as he has the day off work.
Will come back and read all the news later. Wishing all a good day.

Stilllearning Tue 04-Oct-22 08:17:29

Morning from East Ren. where the rain is battering off the windows.

September weekend meant that I hadn’t seen my two youngest DGC for a couple of weeks and I had a lovely evening with them last night, made ‘lava’ with DGS and helped DGD with her violin practice and lots of chat all round.

Glad everything went so well Ash, such a good feeling when that happens.

I too am visiting the optician Marydoll, in my case to pick up glasses with a stronger prescription, which, added to my laser treatment will hopefully make quite a difference to my vision.

This afternoon another visit to DD4 who is still laid low by the horrible virus she has picked up, I have never known her to need a ‘line’ to stay off work.

baubles I know several people with that awful cough, it’s definitely going around, I hope you feel well enough to go to work tomorrow, I know how much you want to.

Wishing you all the best day possible ???

GrannyGravy13 Tue 04-Oct-22 08:16:32

Morning Mick and all

Still very mild here in S E Essex, haven’t put a coat on yet. Off to the next town Gingster’s for flu jabs this morning, afterwards a wander in the shops ending with M & S Food Hall.

Picking up the 7yr old and The Imp after school/pre-school, the 7yr old will stay over and obviously be spoilt ?

Have your best day folks ?‍♀️?

Good morning from sunny Seville.
We are exhausted after our trip to Cadiz yesterday and not yet up. We were impressed by the journey. The trains are run like an airline with everyone having an allocated seat, which are comfy and air conditioned.
Cadiz is lovely, but a lot of it is under construction. The sea breeze was welcome but the heat got to me in the afternoon and we had to curtail our wandering for a seat in the shade. Worth a visit for a day unless you are a sun worshipper (of which there were many on the beach).
Today we are taking it easy as we fly home tomorrow. Souvenir shopping and packing. 34° forecast at 5pm.
Love to all ? x

Morning Mick, morning All from a grey, gloomy corner of Somerset.

Yesterday went well enough other than discovering the fridge freezer we (finally!) decided on is now out of stock everywhere. Thank goodness the one we have still works. Mr C made me laugh, he said it shows we made a good choice.

Today we’ll finish sorting the seasonal clothes change around. Currently four bags waiting to go to the charity shop. I need to remember to sort the grocery order or our menu will be ‘interesting’. Hope to do some dust removal as well. A mundane day I know but I’ll enjoy it.

Pleased your appointments are sorted mick, hope all go to plan. Your opening night sounded both fun and worthwhile ash. Your friend must be so relieved she has good people around her grandmattie. Enjoy your coach trip bluesapphire, another one here with good memories of Bourton. Guess you won’t have time for the quirky motor museum. Those medical appointments are stacking up ladylfl, wishing you both well.

Best move or nothing will happen here. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.

NanKate Tue 04-Oct-22 08:06:22

Goog morning Mick and All.

Cloudy day here in South Bucks.

If you want stand out glasses frames Mary try Ronit Furst. They have fab colours. I have 2 pairs but the frame is only at the top as going all the way round is a bit over the top for me. Prue Leith wears them.

I do envy the plays shown at your Theatre Ash. The 39 Steps is one of my favourites.

Quiet day watching the tennis.

Kalu Tue 04-Oct-22 08:05:41

Good morning all from a stinker of a day in Glasgow, very wet and stormy.

DH had his weekly visit it with his speech therapist yesterday. I was busy in the kitchen when he returned, effortlessly telling me his good news. He was using a hands free HME valve which means he no longer has to press his previous valves in order to speak. We both expected it would be into next year before he was ready for this next step and not knowing if he was a good candidate for this device, he passed with flying colours. He facetimed both our girls, all of us delighted to hear his voice again, there were many happy tears.

Pilates this afternoon is my only plan for today after which, we will batten down the hatches and coorie doon ignoring the awful weather.

Best wishes to all for a good day and wishing those with worries, an easier day.

NannyJan53 Tue 04-Oct-22 08:05:13

Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country.

Lovely walk yesterday in the sunshine, we were able to sit outside eating lunch, until it became very chilly around 3pm.

Off to visit a friend for a natter this morning, then onto Mums as she has an appointment for new NHS hearing aids at Spec Savers. We will go into town and have lunch there first.

Wishing you all a good day

Gingster Tue 04-Oct-22 08:04:57

Good morning All
and it’s a grey start here at the Suffolk seaside.
We travel back to Essex today , hopefully be back in time for my Bridge Club.

We have a tip time booked at 9 , so we can get rid of our rubbish and not take it home.

Always sad to leave but also nice to be back with family and friends.

Hoping all your days are good ones. ?

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 04-Oct-22 08:02:50

Good morning everyone from a dull Oxfordshire.
Conservatory floor is looking good, time to get some ‘Finish’ on it before the rains come tomorrow as the blasted roof has sprung a leak, timing is not good on this, anyway I have other things to worry about so I can’t stress about a wooden floor.

Shoulder is still a pain so sat and binge watched ‘1883’yesterday as we’ve just finished watching ‘Yellowstone’ and 1883 is a prequel . Both fab shows.

Today I shall mostly be reading and eating ready meals cooked in the dining room in the microwave and taking pain killers, instead of cleaning the house!

Mick MissOops has an op next week and decided to self isolate from yesterday ‘ just in case’. There is so much Covid about and she really needs the op.

Anyway have a good day everyone, let’s hope the sun shines.

Greyduster Tue 04-Oct-22 07:59:04

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Wyllow has our South Yorkshire weather bang to rights - not going to see the sun methinks. My failing hip seems to have hit another downward spiral if my broken night is anything to go by. These things are sent to try us, but nil desperandum. The business of trying to decide on a replacement for my current car is driving me up the wall. I am tempted to say I’ll keep the one I have but I know it’s not practical, so more homework today!
Have the best day you can folks.

brook2704 Tue 04-Oct-22 07:50:48

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and raining.
Good that you’ve got your appointments all organised now mick
Well done with the opening night Ash, such a worthwhile charity too.
I arrived back home yesterday from DD1s house after a good journey, I took the quick easy flight from Luton and DH picked me up from the airport. Today I’m catching up on a few household jobs and then helping out with the school pick up later
Have a lovely time in the Cotswolds BlueSapphire it’s a lovely area and I too remember Bourton on the water from years ago
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Marydoll Tue 04-Oct-22 07:49:18

Good morning all from a very wet Glasgow, where it's
a positively balmy 16°.
I'm glad to hear your friend is getting lots of support, GM.
Good to hear you are having your booster today Mick, especially when you have medical appointments in the next few weeks, you don't want to miss your appointments.
If were me, I would be cutting down my trips, prior to that, Covid is on the rise here, as I suppose it is everywhere else.

Yesterday turned out to be an easy day, with little paper work done! I spent a good part of my morning drinking tea and gossiping chatting with the PP ( it was his day off!, his house keeper and of course the dogs. ?
The gardener is Dollie's best friend's papa, so a lengthy chat, while he was cutting the grass, was in order, it would have been rude not to!
Mr MDoll had completed his round of golf and was back home and concerned that I had gone AWOL!

I checked my phone, to find Dollie was off school, with butterflies in her tummy. Eventually, we got to the bottom of it, she had a math's test and was worried about it. She had the same teacher for two years and the NQT she has now, has a very different style.
I have a bit of a dilemma. She is teaching something which is not quite right, but I don't want to interfere (#pushy gran) and confuse Dollie.
We had a long video chat with her, to reassure her, she is so sensitive and worries a lot.
She wasn't too happy with me, when I explained she had to go to school today!

I have a long opthalmic appointment today. My RA and medication play havoc with my eyes. I definitely need a new prescription and my cataracts monitored , so have decided to push the boat out and get stand out frames!
Topsy Irene, one of the Glesca Grannies wears fabulous glasses and I always have glasses envy, ? when I see her! ?
I bet I chicken out and go for boring!
We have decided to go for lunch afterwards, Chinese, so no cooking tonight! Yippee!!!

Good wishes for any medical appointments and for those on holiday, have a great time.

Wyllow3 Tue 04-Oct-22 07:36:45

Morning from a gloomy and windy S Yorks.

Yesterday it took nearly 3 hours altogether with sorting the next 2 year fixed deal on my mortgage - my the questions you have to answer for the tail end of a mortgage. Then a long Zoom. I was hoping to get out in the sun today therefore but…

Gym and then an other, shorter, but more demanding Zoom with my hat on as Governor on local NHS business.

Well done there BlueSappire for the sorting out. And Beechnut I keep making the same resolution.

All the best for matters medical and family today earlies.

monk08 Tue 04-Oct-22 07:32:08

Good morning all from the Black country.
Yesterday turned out better than expected. DH decided he wanted to view a new fishing venue, so we had a delightful walk by the water in the sunshine, then we stopped at a country pub on way back for our tea.
Ash nice to hear the play went well, and grandMattie glad others are helping and you have got time for yourself.
Flu jab this afternoon.
Enjoy your Tuesday everyone and may you all find some ?.

Beechnut Tue 04-Oct-22 07:25:14

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Dry here and rain forecast for later and the next few days.

I’m pleased to have my car back. I haven’t been walking anywhere since Covid started and I must try to do so.

Off swimming this morning and then back for house stuff. I’m running my freezer contents down this week so I can defrost.

Hope everyone’s day goes well ???

baubles Tue 04-Oct-22 07:08:14

Good morning all from dark South Lanarkshire, I think it’s dry outside.

Good idea to have a diary to keep you organised Mick.

Not a lot happening here today, I’ve been feeling rotten for a few days with a hacking cough, Sod’s Law as I’m going back to work tomorrow. DH is going to help DS with some household repairs so I’ll stay at home with the dog and my crochet.

Have the best day possible everyone.

BlueSapphire Tue 04-Oct-22 06:49:37

Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton. Hoping it stays dry as I am off on a coach trip today to the Cotswolds. Need to get an early bus to the pick up point.
One of our stops is Bourton on the Water, which brings back childhood memories of outings there.

Yesterday morning was unexpectedly delightful; my friend picked me up after yoga and took me to 'knit and natter' at a local pub. It was lovely, about 5/6 of us sitting with coffee and knitting/crochet, helping each other out withi tricky stitches. Afterwards my friend and I decided to stay at the pub for lunch!

The afternoon was spent re-organising my summer/winter wardrobes, which pleased the cats no end as they like nothing better than open cupboards and drawers to hide in. I decided to bite the bullet and remove most of late DH's remaining clothes from the wardrobe in the spare room ready to take to the charity shop. Felt quite sad about that, but it is well over 4 years since he died. ,

Must shake a leg and get showered and dressed ready for my excursion. Greetings to all for a pleasant Tuesday.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 04-Oct-22 06:46:03

Morning all from deep and darkest West Oxfordshire. I am driving OH to Oxford later for an appointment with his Urologist. It seems that he will probably have an operation sooner rather than later. This afternoon, while OH is attending a U3A talk, I will catch up on last night’s D Tennant/S Tucci programme. I went to bed early with a migraine. By dinner time I had six (6) different medical appointments set up for the next three weeks. Eek. At least my sprained neck is improving. I hope you all have a good day.

grandMattie Tue 04-Oct-22 06:23:23

Good morning from a dark, overcast E Kent. No sign of light yet.
I’m pleased your play went well Ash, and that you are all organised for the weeks to come, Mick.
My friend’s friend has been amazing at organising all sorts of things, things that I find very difficult, battling against bureaucracy, etc. We are to have a visit fromSS at some stage, which will be helpful, I hope. She’s already had two offers on her house, but seen nothing to buy. Everyone is very clear that she has to leave here by 1st December…
I have Tai chi and it’s lunch today. Her friend will be with her, helping me out. I refuse to be housebound with her, although it goes against the grain for me. She has loads of friends; they can come up and help!
I hope that Marydoll feels calmer today, and that today bring calm and peace to everyone. Carpe diem. ??❤️???

Ashcombe Tue 04-Oct-22 06:11:10

Good morning from a mild Torbay.

Our charity night for our opening performance of 39 Steps was a great success. Only four actors involved who had a very busy time, constantly swapping rôles, helped by willing backstage crew!

The charity raises money for a most worthwhile cause: funding holidays for families who have terminally ill members or other tough circumstances.

www.thhn.co.uk/

A couple connected with Toads, our theatre company, are involved with it. There was a great atmosphere and I won a raffle prize! A very sociable time in the bar afterwards left me too buzzy to sleep.

I hope today is kind to everyone. ?????

BlueBalou Tue 04-Oct-22 06:02:53

Good morning Mick, it’s a dry start here too. We had our jabs yesterday so pleased that we’ve ticked that off.
I’m glad you’ve sort your appointments out, it’s been a testing time for you with the missed ones etc.
Off to crafts this morning and DDog has dog water so she’ll be happy. I have no ide what DH is up to today, but I’m hoping he’ll mow the lawns.
Have a lovely day everyone x
