I once bought one of those besoms at a crowded country fair. The stall holder asked me if I'd be okay getting it through the crowds to the car park. Quick as a flash, my husband replied, "oh, she'll be fine. She'll just ride it home."

I hope that you said yes ! A reception child asked an Ofsted inspector, quite casually "Are you a witch?" She did have rather a pointy nose..but I was a little concerned that it might affect the ladies' judgement.

Many years ago one of my teams renamed me as the Wicked Witch of the West after I left a pair of shiny red shoes next to my desk one evening. When I got to work the next day someone had drawn and hung a big puff of smoke above it. Wicked Witch of the West was later shortened to W-cubed and then W.

My daft DH once borrowed our DH plastic Halloween long nose and drove all the way to work across the city to work. The best reaction he got was at a school crossing when he got cheered by mums and children. When he told me I went crazy thinking of all the incidents it could have created.

Brilliant. You could have just left your DH in the shop and flown home on your broomstick.

I hope you turned him into a snail or something.
